00:30The forest is really unique. I think we managed to get a really nice height of the tree, being able
00:35to ride your mound through the forest without bumping into leaves everywhere. I think it's very nice.
00:40And what better way to keep exploring this new dappled forest than the new…
00:44Strawbed!
00:46So we know that players really like exploring all the biomes, especially the new dappled forest, yes. But the thing
00:53that stops them, it's nighttime.
00:54Yeah, and this is the problem that we aim to solve with the strawbed, allowing players to skip the night
01:00without having to set their spawn point. You will no longer have to worry, did I plop a bed down?
01:05Did I set my spawn point here? That's not my base. So we kind of want the players to get
01:10out of their comfort zone.
01:11Yes, and continue their adventure.
01:12Yes. Compared to the regular bed, the strawbed works slightly different. When you wake up after night, it breaks.
01:20The inspiration for the strawbed was trying to make things look really early game, and some of the earliest things
01:25that players craft is bread with the wheat.
01:27So it gives us sort of a familiar feeling because people have seen hay before.
01:32What is the recipe for the strawbed?
01:33You place three hay bales in a row. This will give you four strawbeds.
01:38Ooh, what a deal!
01:38So it's actually very cheap.
01:40I think the community will appreciate the strawbed because it encourages exploration and you're not as punished for leaving your
01:46base.
01:46But I also think we're going to see a lot of interesting building using the strawbeds.
01:51The strawbed really gives the players the opportunity and the freedom of going out to explore and also being able
01:57to skip the night and discover the dappled forest.
02:00One of the new additions to the dappled forest, the shelf mushroom, that grows inside of trees, introduces both new
02:06gameplay and avenues for building.
02:08The shelf mushroom is primarily decorative, but I could see people using it for parkour and other mini-games and
02:16stuff.
02:16Yeah, it has a slight bounce to it as well. And yeah, you can also use it for the stews
02:21now.
02:22I love the new poplar wood set. This warm gray color is such a nice complement to the different stone
02:29families that we have and pale oak as well.
02:31A lot of people have compared the poplar wood set with pale oak, first off. How dare they?
02:39The poplar wood set is obviously gray. Pale oak is obviously white.
02:43You tell me.
02:46You said something about the trapdoor.
02:49Yeah, it's described as a toilet seat with a hole in it.
02:53I've heard what the trapdoor looks like, but I don't agree.
02:56I didn't think that it looked like a toilet when I was developing it, but now that people point it
03:01out, yeah, it is a little toilet-like.
03:04So we left a bit of a mystery in the dappled forest, didn't we?
03:07Yes, players who explore the dappled forest will maybe come across a mysterious abandoned campsite.
03:13Ooh. So when you stumble upon an abandoned camp, what do you find?
03:16Well, you of course have the tent, and you have this put-out campfire and a campsite with some loot,
03:21and sometimes, if you're lucky, you'll even find a buried treasure with some better loot in it.
03:26The abandoned camp can be found in lots of different biomes, not just the dappled forest.
03:32Who built it? Who knows?
03:34I don't know.
03:35It'll be a mystery forever.
03:37We knew that we were making tents for the abandoned camps.
03:41Then we knew that, like, oh, we're adding wool stairs and wool slabs to this game drop.
03:45So, wool stairs and wool slabs.
03:47I love how that came to be in this game drop.
03:50This is one of the most requested features from the players.
03:54Yeah, I think it's what got the loudest cheer at TwitchCon.
03:59I won't be shy, but I think wool stairs and wool slabs is a game changer for building in Minecraft.
04:04Just a sheer amount of colors and new shapes that it provides.
04:08I understand why players have been asking for this for a long time.
04:11And now, after 17 long years of squatting against hard stairs,
04:15you'll finally be able to sit down and have a rest.
04:18We give you the cushion.
04:21For the last 17 years, Minecraft players have been solving the whole sitting-down situation
04:26by being created with boats and minecarts and other things.
04:29But now there's finally this straightforward way of just putting down a cushion and sitting down.
04:35The cushion is a new feature that actually allows our players to sit.
04:39And it comes in 16 different colors and you can place it on all kinds of different blocks.
04:44The inspiration behind the cushion in-game is real-world cushions,
04:48like this cute one we have here where there's a cute little button in the middle.
04:52To craft it, you use the 16 new different wool slabs.
04:58Well, that slabs is stairs, isn't it?
05:00No, it slabs.
05:01It slabs?
05:02Slabs to make the cushion.
05:04Oh no!
05:06I think the cushion opens up so many new possibilities for building
05:10that I won't even try to guess what the players are gonna end up doing with them.
05:14With this game ROPS players can expect adventures in the great outdoors,
05:18build using new blocks like the wool stairs and slabs,
05:21and of course, above all else,
05:22being able to properly sit down in Minecraft for the first time in 17 years.
05:28Here's some new ones in the top of the game.
05:29The end.
05:29The end.
05:37The end.
