March for peace in memory of the victims of the Srebrenica genocide

Several thousand people gathered in Bosnia and Herzegovina on Wednesday to take part in a peace march in memory of the victims of the genocide and the survivors who fled the town of Srebrenica in July 1995.

00:01More than 6,500 people gathered at dawn on a Wednesday in Bosnia to set off on a march in
00:09memory of the victims of the Srebrenica genocide. They came from Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as
00:15from abroad to pay tribute not only to the victims but also to those who walked for days
00:21to save their lives in July 1995. Over three days, the workers taking part in this 22nd edition
00:49of the peace march will cover 100 kilometers to reach Potokari near Srebrenica on July the 10th,
00:56the eve of the commemorations of the genocide. In July 1995, the Bosnian Serb army overrun
01:03Srebrenica and brutally murdered more than 8,000 men and teenagers there. The remainder of the
01:10Bosnian Muslim population present in Srebrenica, approximately 25,000 women, children and elderly,
01:17were forcibly transferred out of the enclave.
