00:00One of the most exquisite experiences I've ever had in my life is befriending a wild badger.
00:06This is Thomas, and I did make him a little sign for the entrance of his favorite land hole.
00:12He ended up showing up and digging a house literally right between my horse barn and my home,
00:19and everything that I was told about badgers did not apply to Thomas.
00:24He was sweet, he was curious, I would sit four feet away from him and read my book,
00:30he would love it, he would want to get closer and closer to me.
00:34Over time, I discovered that Thomas was curious, sweet, and wanted to be a part of the family.
00:40So, obviously, I included him, and I found out that one of his favorite meals is eggs.
00:47What's super cool about badgers is they crack a tiny hole in the egg, and then they slurp out the
00:52yolk.
00:53I thought he would be more brutal with the egg, but he was very, very gentle.
00:58Thomas also likes strawberries, and every time I would go out with the camera, he would get closer and closer
01:04to the camera.
01:06I'm pretty sure he might have wanted a kiss or a cuddle.
01:09I've definitely had dreams of cuddling Thomas, and our relationship kept getting deeper and deeper.
01:16He started coming onto my front deck and drinking water, eating the bird seed.
01:22He just kept getting closer and closer to me when everyone told me that badgers like their personal space,
01:28and they don't want to be in busy areas.
01:31Well, guys, Thomas was the exact opposite of that.
01:35He wanted to be so close to me and my cats and my horses.
01:41He stops by every single day, gets a little bit of a drink, eats some snacks,
01:46and most recently, he's been burrowing under the house.
01:51So every time that we go out for a walk, there's Thomas.
01:56He's very gentle with my kitties.
