00:00It's Benzinga, bringing Wall Street to Main Street.
00:02Investor groups supported keeping quarterly reporting requirements for publicly traded
00:07companies as the SEC considers allowing companies to shift to semi-annual reporting,
00:12according to Reuters. Most public comments submitted by Monday's deadline backed the
00:16current requirement. Investors said regular corporate disclosures are needed to make
00:21informed investment decisions and outweigh potential cost savings for companies.
00:25The investment company Institute said 91% of surveyed members managing $6.1 trillion in
00:31assets consider quarterly reports important. The SEC said semi-annual reporting could reduce
00:37compliance costs and short-term decision-making, but warned it may leave investors less informed,
00:42weaken market fairness, and reduce oversight. The proposal followed President Trump's call
00:47for companies to report twice a year. The SEC did not immediately respond to Benzinga's request for
00:53comments. For all things money, visit Benzinga.com.
