00:02Toyota said Monday it will invest $3.6 billion to move production of the Tacoma midsize pickup
00:08from Mexico to its San Antonio, Texas, manufacturing campus, according to CNBC.
00:13The investment is expected to create 2,000 U.S. jobs, add a second assembly line,
00:18and nearly double the size of the plant by 2030.
00:21Toyota said the expansion will raise annual capacity from about 200,000 to 350,000 units.
00:27The company said it will maintain operations in Mexico as Tacoma production shifts from
00:31Tijuana to Texas over the next four years.
00:33The move comes after the Trump administration said it would conduct annual reviews of its
00:38trade pact with Canada and Mexico instead of extending it.
00:41Toyota will continue making Tacoma pickups at its Guanajuato plant.
00:45Toyota said the announcement is part of its plan to invest up to $10 billion more than
00:49previously expected in the U.S. through 2030.
