00:05Living in the basement it's been really hard getting it finally finished and looking amazing
00:11it's gonna be superb my dad would probably flip his lid if he saw this he's very much a perfectionist
00:22don't turn too early never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that something like this would be a
00:36reality in I mean it's definitely become way more than we had planned right well it's almost like
00:49you don't need the rest of the house we've only got a week until the kitchen is arriving so all
01:00of this needs to be done before then walls and ceilings are really important actually underrated
01:07sometimes good boy what keeps us going in between the highs and lows of the whole renovation project
01:17is when we can get together and do things as a family oh they're bringing it out I'm getting
01:23nervous now I think it's a crazy idea that's the end whose idea was is about a hundred feet of
01:31lights
01:33disaster with some guests coming in a few weeks it's going to be really nice to have the Sun Terrace
01:51finished the clock is ticking on the Costa del Sol for Jasmine and John's renovation there's just a few
01:58weeks to go to get everything finished in time for a special gathering that's been organized for close
02:04family and friends we wanted to do a nice little housewarming party to invite everyone back to see
02:11how things have progressed but everything's delayed we're still hoping to have everything done by then
02:24it will be challenging but with the invites already out and flights booked a last-minute cancellation is not an
02:33option and while the
02:34entertainment room in the basement is now fully operational a lot of the family's home is still a building site
02:40I knew when we took on
02:42this project that we would have to be living here whilst the renovation was going on but I think what
02:47I didn't anticipate was that it would be so dirty
02:56so noisy so noisy so overwhelming so many people in the house and so many different demands on my headspace
03:13I think we're kind of at the pinnacle at the moment of the most stressful time and
03:21hopefully we get over this peak and then it starts getting easier and it starts getting more finished
03:26and you start to see more progress so that's what I'm hoping
03:31right now one of the biggest challenges for Jasmine is that John is away from home filming in Wales in
03:38an extreme location
03:39I'm currently working at Mount Snowden which is it seems like and is a long way from Jasmine kids
03:45in the south of Spain feels it feels weird I'm into about 10 days of being away from them and
03:52there's a lot going on at the house and I feel slightly helpless there's certain bits that I thought I
03:58would be doing certain bits that I would be finishing
04:01but we're really up against it time wise so jazz is having to crack on but needs must I have
04:08to work I'm looking forward to getting home and grafting and putting in a stint of trying to finish the
04:13house
04:14even in summer temperatures can be close to freezing on the peak of Mount Snowden
04:21while in Spain Jasmine's team of builders are laboring in 40 degree heat
04:30I bought a watermelon yesterday me and the kids ate about a quarter of it I've got so much left
04:34and I thought I need to give some to the guys it's so hot today I thought a nice cold
04:40watermelon out of the fridge would be refreshing
04:43oh absolutely beautiful look at you absolutely sweating I think here because of the heat and the temperature you know
04:53you wouldn't really be wanting a cup of tea and a biscuit
04:57take some of that and then take some of this something really cold and refreshing like watermelon straight out of
05:06the fridge is much more appealing
05:17at the moment the renovation team's main focus inside the house is the kitchen where the laying of the marble
05:24floor tiles has just been finished
05:27otherwise the kitchen is little more than an empty shell
05:30that kitchen just no walls no ceiling it is depressing to look at but once the plasterboard goes up then
05:43you can start to really visualize how it's going to come together when it's finished
05:48walls and ceilings are really important actually underrated sometimes
05:58plasterboarding will give the kitchen a basic shape but there's a long way to go before it's ready for jasmine's
06:03new units to be installed
06:06the kitchen is going to be delivered in a week's time
06:12all of the electrics need to be finished the plumbing the plastering the painting
06:21i don't know how they're going to do it all in a week
06:29apart from hitting the kitchen deadline jasmine's also on a mission to give the sun terrace a complete makeover
06:36originally the idea was to install solar panels up here but that would involve big structural changes with a hefty
06:44cost attached
06:44so the plan is on hold for the foreseeable future instead the terrace has been serving as a utility area
06:52i was happy for the sun terrace upstairs to be somewhere for laundry because most of the time it would
06:59be too hot to sit up there in the sun
07:01but john was adamant that he really wanted it to be like a lovely entertaining area
07:06so the idea up here is to create a really chilled ibiza kind of vibe
07:15with lots of greenery some nice lighting lots of natural textures
07:23i got a roll of wicker fence panels to attach to the wall just to give it a bit more
07:30natural texture
07:31and i think it will be quite a nice backdrop because it is going to be so bright up there
07:37i think the dark colour will actually just be a little bit less intense on your eyes
07:42the garden isn't ready it's still a building side
07:47so i've got some slight concerns about having a nice usable space for the housewarming party
07:54so getting the rooftop terrace up to speed and transforming it into somewhere that we can enjoy
08:02being outside and entertaining guests is really important
08:07it's not simply a case of getting the sun terrace ready in time
08:11there's also the matter of budget
08:14i bought a load of furniture from a friend when we first bought this house
08:19and one of the things that was in the bundle was a dining table
08:26eight chairs and three sun loungers all for outside use
08:30i'm going to have sun loungers over there on that side
08:35obviously minus the washing
08:36you know if we're actually lounging up here i won't have all
08:40everyone's smalls hanging up
08:43and then the tech this is a great big area
08:45and it could easily fit this big table that we've got
08:48so the only downside is the table has got a glass top
08:54so i've asked the guys to see if they think they could get that glass top up here
09:00either up the stairs which i'm not sure it's a very big piece of glass
09:06or up the outside of the building
09:08so we're going to see if we can do that
09:10fingers crossed it will work
09:13because then i won't have to buy any new furniture for up here
09:18to help come up with the plan jasmine is bringing in head builder dominic
09:23we've been looking at various solutions trying to get it up inside the house
09:28i don't think it will go up the stairs
09:30because of the size of it
09:32and that would be fine because we can very easily take it up the outside of the building
09:37if only the tabletop itself
09:41wasn't glass
09:43because it's extremely heavy
09:46do you think it's possible
09:48if we pack it with something
09:50i think it's possible but risky
09:52i'll tell you why because the hardest bit is
09:54getting over
09:54over the very lip at the top
09:56one little dink on that
09:57yeah and it will explode
09:58so i think it's easy just to pass it and hope someone grabs it
10:01and because that's the problem you're reaching like this and it's quite it's quite heavy
10:04two guys can actually stand closer to the edge
10:07and you've got a hell of a lot more chance than taking it up through
10:11okay
10:11that's a rope as well
10:13just in case we're securing the ladder as well
10:15i don't really have a solution for the tabletop yet
10:19we'll do it don't worry
10:40outside the house jasmine and her team have been brainstorming
10:44and now the lifting of the second-hand table to the sun terrace can get underway
10:49the plan that's been devised
10:51is to attempt hoisting up the glass top
10:53using a rope and pulley system
10:55so first one of the builders
10:57liam wants to try it out
10:59using a wooden pallet as a standard
11:01yeah just keep pulling it up
11:05so the guys are just having a little test
11:09to see if it's going to be possible
11:11the tricky part is going to be getting it over those roof tiles
11:14which we've got going up the house
11:20we're trying to figure it out
11:21this is me trying to be eco-friendly
11:24reusing recycling stuff that i've already got
11:26not spending money on new furniture
11:27getting it in place
11:29but if it's going to take five guys half a day
11:32to get it done
11:32then it's not worth it
11:34the worry is unlike the pallet the sheet of glass is heavy
11:38weighing in at nearly 40 kilograms
11:42hold on tight boys
11:43when you are pulling down on this rope
11:47straight down like that
11:48the pressure is not so bad
11:49but the trouble is the ledges on the roof
11:52if the glass hits that
11:54it's just going to shatter
11:55so we need a second rope
11:57to pull it outwards
11:58outwards
11:58and then that's got more pressure
12:00which can cause it to pop out
12:03you've got your swimming pool
12:05underneath
12:06yeah
12:06I don't want the swimming pool full of glass
12:10as the team sorts out the extra rope
12:13Dominic directs the lifting of the table frame
12:15which is being done by hand
12:30the frame
12:32up to the roof terrace was easy
12:34the guys just sort of handed it to each other
12:36from one balcony to the next
12:37until it reached the top
12:38the glass table top
12:40was obviously a completely
12:42different scenario
12:46with the pulley system in place
12:47and a second rope to hand
12:49Dominic wants to reassess the situation himself
12:53Dominic I'm not sure
12:54he'll grab it
12:55what you've got to watch out for Ryan
12:58watch that wall
12:59that's the dodgy pit
13:00we don't think we can do it
13:02we won't
13:02okay yeah
13:03because also the neighbours
13:04I don't want them to get their garden
13:06showered in glass
13:07Dominic felt quite confident
13:09that we could get it up there safely
13:11and he really wanted to give it a go
13:13oh they're bringing it out
13:16come on in mate
13:18just bring it out
13:19it's heavy
13:19it's heavy V does
13:20Dominic I
13:23it's gonna
13:24just don't worry about it
13:26I think it's a crazy idea
13:28hold on let me
13:30don't worry about it
13:31it's too
13:32it's too risky
13:34what I like about Dominic
13:35is he
13:36doesn't let anything beat him
13:38he's very can do
13:40and I could see he didn't want to let that glass table top beat him
13:46he's determined isn't he
13:48I'm very good at physics but this one's pretty heavy
13:51no but I don't want it to end up in there everywhere in the pool
13:54do you know what I mean
13:55I'm gonna go down and tell him
13:58because to reach that high you've got to be holding just the bottom foot
14:01and that means you've got no control over it
14:04we'll come up with prototype number two don't worry
14:06do it now we have to do it now
14:07no no we'll get some suckers
14:08no no no no
14:09I'll get Steve's sucker on it
14:10you can put it in the skip
14:12okay
14:13I think we're gonna bore
14:15as much as I wanted to recycle and reuse that table
14:20when we got the glass table top in place
14:23I think we all realised that it was far too risky
14:28and that we'd have to find another solution
14:32what I'm thinking is that we could maybe just get some wood
14:37and create a table top of our own up there
14:40so we can make a nice easy table out of that
14:42we'll get some UPVC decking
14:44got the frame
14:45just cut it like that
14:46trim it and put it on top
14:47it doesn't matter
14:48I'm happy
14:49that frame has gone up there
14:51I'll have a look at it
14:52yeah don't worry about it
14:54just leave it like that
14:55there's a lot of excitement
14:56but nothing happened
15:00as well as project managing the renovation
15:02Jasmine is also now single-handedly looking after daughter Joy
15:07and son Albion at home full time
15:11we have really tried to minimise the amount of disruption for the kids
15:15which is difficult when you're living on a building site
15:18and now they're broken up from school
15:21and they're at home much more of the time
15:22it's even more difficult
15:24because they want to play outside
15:26they want to go for a swim
15:28or they want to have their friends over
15:29and all of that is not really possible
15:31because there's just work going on everywhere at the moment
15:35I mean at the end of the day
15:37they are very lucky kids
15:39you know they've got a lovely life
15:41and at the end of this process
15:43they'll have a beautiful home
15:45and it will all be worth it
15:46but it's tough actually
15:49for kids to deal with this sort of thing day in day out
15:53it's tough for adults as well
15:56with John still away filming in Wales
15:58and so much going on in the house
16:01Jasmine's decided it's time
16:03she and the children had a short break
16:05hey guys
16:07who wants a pan au chocolat?
16:10me, me
16:12nice holiday treat
16:13you want to come sit up at the table
16:16the kids and myself are in a lovely little holiday apartment
16:22on a resort just down the coast a little way
16:24I just needed to get out of the house
16:26it was getting too much
16:28the noise, the dirt, the constant decisions
16:32I don't think I realised how much it was getting to me
16:36until I actually arrived here
16:38it's nice and quiet here isn't it?
16:41compared to at home
16:42and way less dusty
16:44way less dusty
16:45oh it's been so nice
16:47to be able to chill out
16:50have fun with the kids
16:52come on are we?
16:54want some noodle or a ring?
16:59it's cake
17:03when we first arrived
17:04I looked out of the window
17:06and I saw the pool right outside
17:07I said kids come and look
17:09and we looked it
17:11and then we just rushed to get our swimming things on
17:13and we all piled out and had a lovely swim
17:15ready?
17:16let me throw these in the pool
17:18so if we can jump into the hoops
17:23I'm going to jump into the swing there
17:25three, two, one
17:32it's so nice
17:34it's so relaxing
17:36I just feel like
17:38instead of being at this level of intensity
17:42I've just been able to come down
17:44to a normal, even keel
17:47where I feel like
17:48I can cope again
18:03down on the Costa del Sol
18:05while Jasmine and the children are away
18:07the renovation team are working hard in the kitchen
18:10to meet their deadline
18:13one of the jobs on the list
18:15is preparing the marble floor tiles for polishing
18:19called grinding
18:20this process removes blemishes
18:22for a smooth, shiny finish
18:24and it's a dirty job
18:26so Dominic was keen to get it out of the way first
18:30the plan for today was
18:31the marble guy
18:32is
18:34everybody's got to get out
18:35and let him do his thing
18:36but it's all gone a bit peaked on
18:38the grinder for the floor marble
18:40can't come
18:41he's
18:42someone's ill
18:42so now we've got to
18:44basically shuffle it all around
18:46although it's not ideal
18:48with so much to do
18:49in a short space of time
18:51Dominic's cracking on
18:52with the next task
18:54I'm boarding this wall up here
18:56in the kitchen
18:56rather than
18:57lose the day
19:00I just stab my finger
19:03and the guys are filling
19:05sanding
19:06it's getting there
19:06so
19:07loads of little jobs
19:09do you want to do a bit of this ceiling fella
19:10that's how good you're at balancing boards
19:13not really
19:14you can still adjust it later
19:16here we go
19:27from the hotel she's staying in
19:29Jasmine is keeping up to date
19:31on the latest developments
19:34today
19:34they're plasterboarding the kitchen
19:36so that is ready for the plasterers to come in
19:38the plaster needs a few days to dry
19:41before we can paint it
19:42we've only got
19:44a week
19:46until the kitchen
19:47is arriving
19:48so all of this needs to be done
19:50before then
19:53her priority is reworking the schedule
19:56starting with rebooking Juan
19:58the marble polisher
20:15there are a lot of processes that are all dependent on one another
20:19so
20:20so I can actually have the headspace
20:22so I can actually have the headspace to do the work that I need to do
20:24to get this project across the line
20:27just by not being there and doing it remotely
20:30the problem is the kitchen is being delivered on Wednesday
20:36unless he wants to come on the weekend
20:41I was actually amazed at how productive I was able to be without people asking me different things every five
20:49seconds and I was able to focus a lot better
20:52my to-do list was going down instead of up
21:01it's now nearing the end of the family's mini break
21:04so before heading home
21:06they're exploring the nearby seaside town of Cala de Mijas
21:11hey look at that little
21:14hola
21:15la Cala de Mijas is a really buzzing place
21:19it's a very popular holiday resort
21:23and somewhere that lots of people really enjoy
21:26there's loads going on
21:28there's a beautiful beach
21:29you can go and just enjoy
21:30feeling like you're on holiday
21:32chocolate
21:33oh joy that looks good
21:35you can have mango and fresa
21:38thank you
21:40this looks yummy
21:41because the weather is so warm here
21:45we quite often get an ice cream
21:48when I think back to my childhood
21:50an ice cream was
21:51for only special occasions
21:53very rarely when the ice cream van came around
21:57but living here
21:58I think we've been having quite a few ice creams
22:00but you know it'd be rude not to wouldn't it
22:03how's yours kids
22:06yummy
22:08I think
22:09if I remember rightly from my last visits here
22:11it was built in around the 1500s
22:15and it used to be a pirate watchtower
22:17and there's this funny story about
22:20one night a pirate who tried to come
22:24ashore
22:25and instead of shooting him with bows and arrows
22:27they threw like hard loaves of bread at him
22:31and he ran away
22:32I can never quite switch off entirely from what's going on back at home
22:37because my phone never stops ringing
22:39pinging
22:40and problems and decisions
22:43and this that and the other
22:44but it is nice to just pretend for a minute
22:46that we're on holiday
22:48and have a nice little relaxing afternoon
22:52do you like it here
22:54it is very pretty
22:55it's lovely isn't it
22:57I can't believe it's
22:58so warm isn't it
22:59the ice cream's melting so fast
23:01I think the break was really needed by everyone
23:06probably even the builders
23:08they just could crack on
23:10with anything they needed to do
23:12so yes
23:13for the kids
23:14to have fun
23:16and be somewhere
23:18where they can just relax on their summer holidays
23:21for me
23:22where I can be less stressed
23:24I think it was as much for them as it was for me
23:33after her time away off site
23:35Jasmine is rejoining the build in person
23:39first she's checking in with the team working on the kitchen
23:42where plastering has begun
23:43the ceiling and one wall are already nearly completed
23:48oh that's looking good guys
23:51god it's amazing the transformation it makes isn't it
23:55so what is the plan
24:02the rest of that wall up there and flatten that as much as we can ready for tomorrow
24:05and then tomorrow will come
24:06that ceiling that wall that wall
24:08and then bits over there
24:10those bits over there
24:11yeah
24:12there are now only three working days left
24:15before the new kitchen units arrive
24:17so to prevent damaging or spoiling them
24:20any job involving plaster
24:21paint or other chemicals
24:23must be finished
24:24that includes prepping the marble floor
24:27so I'm thinking if the
24:29floor polisher guy
24:31wants to come
24:31would he be able to start in one area
24:33that's not in your way
24:34I'm not joking
24:35it'd be wasted
24:36as soon as there's a poor plaster
24:38it's going to go in the air
24:40and it's going to be all open for it
24:41Tom said maybe
24:42get into a weekend on Saturday
24:43let's try and figure something out
24:45I can't delay the kitchen
24:47because otherwise I won't get the worktop
24:50because they all shut down for the summer
24:54the kitchen delivery deadline has become all the more important
24:57because of another complication that's arisen
25:00it's vital
25:02that the kitchen is ready
25:05on schedule
25:06because we have got the worktop company coming
25:11on the very last day
25:14before they close down for the summer
25:16so if it's not done on that day
25:19we will have to wait until after the summer
25:21to get our kitchen worktop
25:24with a kitchen installation deadline
25:27they can't afford to miss
25:28they can't slow down
25:30but they need to come up with a solution
25:32for getting the kitchen tiles polished too
25:35the kitchen has to come when it's coming
25:37there's no backup plan for that
25:39otherwise we completely miss the window
25:41of getting the worktop in
25:43yeah
25:44he said he can come at the weekend
25:45oh happy days then
25:48but because the marble polisher
25:50can work at the weekend
25:51while they are off site
25:53dominic is having a rethink
25:55if he comes and does this side
25:58and concentrates on this side
25:59then when we come in monday
26:01we're going to be painting
26:03cutting the electric sockets
26:04and things like that
26:06and hopefully he's finished this area
26:08and he's over there
26:09because it's quite a messy process
26:10that's the problem
26:11there is mess everywhere
26:13having the plasterers here
26:15at the same time as the floor polisher
26:18it's not ideal really
26:19because they need to be able to
26:22have the space available
26:24to do their work
26:25but we're trying to
26:27coordinate everything
26:29so that they can do
26:30one area at a time
26:32and then they can swap
26:33so in that respect
26:34you know we're finding solutions
26:37so that everyone can
26:39get their jobs done
26:42moving on
26:43next on jasmine's to-do list
26:45is the sun terrace
26:46and the dining table
26:48we decided that we would try
26:50and make an alternative
26:51tabletop for up here
26:53to save having to buy
26:54a whole new set
26:55because all these chairs
26:56and the lounges and everything
26:56all go together
26:57so this nice wooden table
27:00was able to come up in pieces
27:01and be assembled up here
27:03and it's just a really nice
27:05natural wood
27:06I think it looks even better
27:08with a little bit of this varnish on it
27:10and it will just be really
27:11hard wearing and durable
27:14it's actually quite therapeutic
27:17relaxing this kind of thing
27:21to be up here
27:22and no one talking to me
27:23no decisions to make
27:24just doing this
27:26you could get quite into DIY
27:30better late than never
27:37it's now been nearly two weeks
27:39since jasmine has been project
27:40managing the renovation on her own
27:44in the kitchen
27:45the time-saving strategy
27:47she and dominic came up with
27:48has been put into play
27:51we've resolved the marble
27:53and the plasterers
27:54they're working together now
27:56half the front will niche
27:57so it's working
27:59they seem relatively happy
28:01even today
28:02I didn't know they were going to plaster a whole lot
28:04so they've gone a little bit extra
28:06so brilliant
28:07we will hit the target
28:11so the kitchen will be able to go in
28:13the good news continues for jasmine
28:15with john's time away filming in wales
28:18finally coming to an end
28:21I find it really difficult now being away for work
28:23and I sort of hate leaving jazz
28:25and the kids
28:26and leaving jazz
28:28with everything to do at the house
28:29but the plus side is
28:31to get home
28:32and sort of see the fruit of jazz's
28:34hard work
28:35and stress
28:36is amazing
28:38and it is energising
28:39you kind of come home
28:40and you see
28:41what has changed at the house
28:44there's just so much going on
28:46that it's hard
28:47to keep on top of everything
28:48on my own
28:49so having john back
28:50is a huge help
28:51and it's also so nice
28:54to be able to have
28:55family time
28:57you know I think that's what keeps us going
29:00in between the
29:02highs and lows
29:03of the whole renovation project
29:05is when we can get together
29:07and do things as a family
29:10so before returning to the renovation
29:12john's joining jasmine and the children
29:14with one of their friends
29:16on a visit to a local dog rescue centre
29:18which as dog owners themselves
29:20they're keen to support
29:22we're all animal lovers
29:24although I have to say
29:25I'm slightly nervous
29:26that the kids are going to want
29:27to take another dog home
29:30it's not the right time for us
29:32because we're living
29:33on construction sites right now
29:36Joy's friend Asha
29:38is tagging along with us as well
29:39the kids are just desperate
29:41to come and walk the dogs
29:43morning
29:44even though they're not adopting right now
29:47the family have offered their help
29:48to exercise the dogs
29:50on a voluntary basis
29:51welcoming them
29:52is the rescue centre's president
29:54susie
29:55would you like to see a new puppy
29:57that's just arrived
29:58yeah
29:58yeah
29:59call us we'll take you in there
30:00we'll catch up with you in a moment
30:02lovely
30:03so how long have you been
30:04running this place
30:06about three years
30:07but I've been a volunteer here
30:09for about 23 years
30:10really
30:10yeah
30:11how long has the charity been going
30:1233 years
30:1333 years
30:15how many dogs have you got in there
30:16we've got about 150 at the moment
30:19150
30:19yes
30:20and so the dogs come from
30:22mainly the streets
30:23like dogs that are found on the streets
30:24yeah
30:24all the dogs here
30:25all but a few
30:26are just abandoned
30:27we find them hanging on trees
30:29we find them in rubbish bins
30:30we find them in sacks
30:31and things like that
30:32we never put a dog to sleep
30:33unless it's terminally ill
30:35and we can't do another thing about it
30:37and believe me
30:38we bend over backwards
30:39to make these dogs better
30:40if a family like ours
30:41wanted to adopt a dog
30:42what's the criteria
30:43what do you look for in a family
30:45well we always ask you
30:46to come and see the dogs first
30:48I would say half of the time
30:49the dog you think you want in your head
30:51isn't the dog you really need
30:52so it's always better to come here
30:54meet the dog
30:55take them for a walk
30:56then you can get to see the personality
30:57then you'll see
30:58oh that is the dog for us
31:05their new arrivals
31:06these dogs are being kept separate
31:08from the others
31:09so they can be put on a controlled diet
31:11to feed them back up
31:12to a healthy weight
31:14oh they're super hungry
31:16the problem is
31:17their tummies will just be tiny
31:18because they're not used to eating
31:19so we can only give them
31:21little bits at a time
31:22go on baby
31:24we're going to rehabilitate these
31:25we're going to get them well
31:26and we're going to find
31:27new homes for them
31:29and when you've done that
31:30it makes everything
31:31all worthwhile at the end of it
31:33yeah yeah
31:33it's amazing work that you do
31:35thank you
31:36we're proud of it
31:39because we can see the transformation
31:40I know
31:42I know
31:42I've been going sad
31:44yeah
31:48how did you get on with your letter
31:50to get a taste of what it's like
31:52being a voluntary dog walker
31:54Jasmine and John have been paired up
31:56with two of the centre's residents
31:58Clancy and Summer
32:01he's a good boy
32:02yes
32:03Summer
32:05Summer's such a pretty name
32:20he's happy
32:23oh look at you
32:25yes
32:25the dogs love the water
32:27especially on a hot day like this
32:29you're living your best life
32:32now you've given me a little shower
32:34I think the dogs are ready now
32:36to head back
32:38there were two lovely dogs
32:40that were just sweet-natured
32:44just need someone to give them some TLC
32:49Munch
32:50no Munch
32:52there's a dog in there called Munch
32:54and annoyingly has slightly stolen my heart
32:59do you need someone to rescue you
33:01going into the evening
33:03I should be thinking about what we're doing for the renovation tomorrow
33:06but I'll probably be thinking about what Munch is doing here
33:09and how much Munch would benefit from a loving family like ours
33:12but I'm not sure the house is ready for another big dog yet
33:16there's 150 dogs or so in there
33:19all looking for a home
33:25you know
33:26it's quite upsetting to see them all
33:28every single one of them
33:29you know looking at you like pick me pick me pick me
33:33these wonderful people are picking up the pieces of all these poor dogs
33:37that someone else has abandoned or abused
33:40I'm glad we came
33:41and I think we'll come back again
34:00the summer sun is shining on the Costa del Sol
34:03and it's a big day for Jasmine and the renovation team
34:07the new kitchen units are arriving
34:09and inside everything is primed for their installation
34:14seeing the space where the kitchen's going to go
34:17now it's all been painted
34:18and it's starting to look more like a liveable space
34:22it's great
34:23and the kitchen's been delivered
34:25I think it's going to look amazing
34:27I can't wait to get it installed
34:30so it seems like everything is falling into place
34:36is that the whole kitchen?
34:37no there's still more coming
34:38oh look the tall columns just fit
34:41it's so nice to see the kitchen coming together
34:45because at one point
34:47when they ripped it all out
34:49there was no floor
34:50there was no walls
34:53and no ceiling
34:56and it was kind of terrifying
34:58but step by step
35:00everything is coming together
35:03and being put in place
35:09very exciting
35:10it looks beautiful
35:12it's almost better than I remember
35:14now I see it here in the house
35:16the handles are lovely
35:17the colour is absolutely gorgeous
35:19I'm really looking forward to having a functional dishwasher again
35:25because we haven't got one downstairs in the basement kitchenette
35:28and yeah I can't wait
35:31I love my dishwasher
35:33the day also marks an achievement for Dominic and his builders
35:37they've taken an empty shell
35:39and constructed new walls and a ceiling
35:41all plastered and painted within a week
35:44we've hit the kitchen target
35:45which was great
35:47a bit of stress
35:48a little bit of stress
35:49so it's all ready to go for them
35:52we've still got the splashbacks
35:55the painting
35:56the decorating
35:57final touches
35:58bits of skirting board
36:01they're all little jobs
36:03but because they're finishing jobs
36:05they're quite slow
36:07and quite
36:07you know
36:07it's got to look perfect
36:08so
36:10you know
36:11we're getting there
36:13however
36:13the pressure has now shifted
36:15onto the kitchen installers
36:16to keep to schedule
36:18the plan is
36:19that over the next two days
36:20they are going to fit the kitchen
36:22and
36:23the kitchen fitters
36:25have to finish
36:26the kitchen on time
36:28because
36:30the
36:32worktop company's
36:33final day
36:34for measuring
36:35is in two days
36:37so they have to do it then
36:39in order for us to get the worktop
36:41fitted
36:42before they go off on their break
36:44so there's no margin for error
36:46at all
36:49with the worktop company's holiday deadline in mind
36:52Jasmine brings in kitchen designer Rebecca
36:55to run her installation team herself
36:59all the furniture's here
37:01as you can see
37:02they arrive already assembled
37:04the guys are here now working
37:06and I've just been through with them
37:08the design
37:09so there's no question about
37:10what's on the plan
37:11and what's not on the plan
37:13fingers crossed
37:14everything goes smoothly
37:15I'm sure it will
37:16everything seems to be as it should be
37:18and tomorrow will be finished
37:21I'm kind of entrusting everything
37:23to the kitchen fitters
37:24and hoping they get it all right
37:28there's no reason why they shouldn't get it right
37:30because I've been through it enough times with Rebecca
37:32and she's very meticulous
37:36leaving the kitchen installation
37:38to the person best placed
37:40to manage the process
37:41Jasmine enlists
37:42John's help to focus
37:44on another key area of the build
37:46the top sun terrace
37:47which they need to have finished in time
37:49for their housewarming party
37:51with some guests coming in a few weeks
37:53it's going to be really nice
37:55to have the sun terrace finished
37:56because the house is south facing
37:58I've always envisaged
37:59that once the sun is off the garden
38:01we'll spend the evenings
38:02with the last bit of sun on the roof
38:04we've had some guests in the past
38:06and I've slightly always hankered
38:08that we could take them up there
38:09for an evening drink
38:10but now I feel like the space
38:12I feel like we're proud enough of that space
38:14to sit and happily have some drinks in the evening
38:18it was originally John's idea
38:19to transform part of the sun terrace
38:22into an Ibiza style lounge stroke chill out zone
38:25but in his absence
38:27Jasmine's been making the design decisions
38:30there's yet another delivery to our house
38:34I mean I don't really order much
38:36I can't keep up with how much stuff
38:38Jazz has ordered that's arriving at the moment
38:40I dare look at our bank account
38:42I keep seeing boxes round the house
38:44I'm like what is that?
38:45What's that for?
38:46Why is that?
38:48Oh these are much smaller than I was hoping for
38:51anyway never mind
38:55where's the end?
38:57coming off
38:58coming off
38:58this is a mess isn't it
38:59put it on here and untangle it first
39:01oh my god
39:04who's idea was it's about 100 feet of lights
39:08and then they're all tangled up
39:12this is a disaster
39:15surely they should have opened up easier than this
39:18this is going so badly
39:21I mean it's fine rolling out of the lights
39:23we haven't actually got the
39:24I haven't actually put the post up
39:25we have to hang them on
39:36it's not long until another one of Jasmine's purchases arrives
39:41to fit in with the bamboo covering
39:43she's put up on the wall
39:44she's chosen soft furnishings with a similar beach club vibe
39:48oh look at that
39:50they just expand
39:51two in each
39:51yes that's eight
39:54yeah they love a vacuum bag
39:55that's satisfying opening
39:57that is so satisfying
39:58they look nice
39:59this house needs storage just for Jazz's cushions
40:02I have gone a bit overboard with cushions
40:06it's starting to shape up up here isn't it
40:08yeah it's good
40:09having our roof terrace
40:12as a usable space
40:14not just for laundry
40:16it will be really nice
40:19it's just such a lovely spot
40:20beautiful views of the mountains
40:23and all the surrounding greenery
40:25so yeah I'm really happy
40:29downstairs in the kitchen
40:31work is progressing rapidly
40:32and after a day with no hitches
40:34the fitters have downed tools
40:36so Jasmine and John are taking a sneak preview of the units
40:40that were once the showroom's display model
40:46oh my gosh
40:47it is better
40:49I love it
40:51look at that
40:52oh
40:54oh it looks so nice
40:57do you like it?
40:59yeah I like it
40:59colour
41:00really looks better in our house than it did in the showroom
41:03it's way better than it did in the showroom
41:06oh it looks so nice
41:09all that's missing
41:11it's the worktop
41:12it feels like quite a long time ago
41:13that we were looking around kitchen showrooms
41:15I vaguely remember being on crutches
41:18and probably not paying quite as much attention as I should do
41:21so I had forgotten
41:23what the kitchen really looked like
41:25so when the units had been fitted
41:28and we were sort of 70% there
41:29it was impressive
41:31it looked good
41:31I was like wow
41:32we made the right decision
41:33the colour is amazing
41:36it's beautiful
41:37I absolutely like
41:39it looks like the kitchen should be on target
41:43while up on the sun terrace
41:45Jasmine and John's creation has finally come together
41:51it's not bad is it out here
41:53I mean you could make so much more of it
41:55be careful because it's full of dirty water
41:58oh god
42:04now after adding a few finishing touches
42:06it's time to find out if it meets expectations
42:14finally
42:15yeah
42:18and you took out the washing line
42:20I've always championed this roof terrace
42:23yes
42:23you always I will never use it
42:25it'll be too hot
42:26no we'll use it every single day for hanging out laundry
42:29but you had that clever idea of the quick release washing line
42:35so you're not just a pretty face are you
42:37this is one of my favourite spaces in the house
42:40and I know that it's the one we've spent the least money on
42:43but that is
42:44makes it slightly more satisfying
42:46yeah exactly
42:47I mean
42:48I want to reuse all the old lounges that we got
42:51second hand with that bundle of furniture
42:54and the table
42:56and eight chairs
42:57they're all perfectly alright
42:58just new cushions
42:59upside from the table was a stroke of genius
43:02the wooden tabletop I think looks nice and rustic
43:07I'm actually really happy to be able to reuse the stuff that we already had
43:13and it still looks nice
43:15I love a fairy line of festoon
43:17I still think I could sneak some more in here in the next few weeks
43:20oh knock yourself out
43:22whatever floats your boat
43:25actually I think from the initial idea that you had
43:28you wanted to make it like chill out Ibiza
43:31and I was like no we'll never use it
43:33let's just keep it as a laundry area
43:36it's kind of a happy medium isn't it
43:38yeah
43:38because it's lovely
43:41but we can still
43:42it can still be practical
43:44laundry
43:45I sound like I'm obsessed with laundry
43:47I mean
43:48but yeah
43:49well I'll openly admit
43:50the speed at which you could dry clothes up here is amazing
43:54but this is way better
43:56well done
43:56well done you
43:57it would just be a laundry area if it was down to me
44:00so it's good
44:10that's leprechaun green
44:11beautiful colour I love the colour
44:13it's not a share but
44:14but yeah it's not
44:15it's too bright
44:16intensity at the moment
44:18so close to the end
44:20is ridiculous
44:23well if he doesn't do it on Thursday
44:24it won't be done in time
44:26no
44:27because he's only got Thursday in front
44:29it's pushing it already
44:31I'm just having to leave it all
44:33in John's hands
44:35I don't know
44:35it just couldn't be worse timing really
44:41you'll do it
44:42it'll be fine
44:43I think it's pretty touch and go
44:46as to whether everything will be finished on time
44:49for the housewarming party
44:51it's too close to call
44:55so
