Bright skies greeted the start of early voting in the Johor state election on Tuesday (July 7), with security personnel turning up from 7.30am to exercise their right to vote.

00:02Polls opened for early voting in the Johor state election on Tuesday morning,
00:06with security personnel arriving as early as 7.30am to cast their ballots.
00:12The favourable weather helped ensure a smooth start at polling centres for the voters and election commission staff.
00:19A total of 64 polling centres opened to accommodate 24,751 early voters,
00:27comprising Armed Forces personnel, police, General Operations Force personnel and their spouses.
00:35Many voters were seen streaming in at the polling centres,
00:39including the Johor contingent police headquarters and Makota Kluang Camp.
00:44Election personnel appeared to be well prepared to ensure the smooth voting process.
00:49Johor Police Chief Commissioner Datuk Abdul Rahman Arsad said
00:534,257 or 36.3% of the early voters from the police had fulfilled their voting responsibilities as of
01:0110.30am.
01:03More than 2.7 million registered voters are eligible to cast their ballots in the election,
01:09with 172 candidates contesting 56 state seats.
