The budget MacBook Neo is now less budget-friendly after a recent price hike. Is it still the best choice for students and those in the Apple ecosystem, or are you better off with a competitor? Let's find out.

00:00The budget MacBook Neo just got $100 less budget, so is it still worth your money?
00:05If you're a student that wants to be in the Apple ecosystem, the $599 base model is still
00:10probably worth it, as long as you're fine with 256GB of storage and no Touch ID.
00:16For everyone else though, you're now looking at $699 for the base model or $799 for double
00:21the storage and Touch ID, but you're still going to be stuck with 8GB of RAM, which is
00:26pretty lame for a device this expensive now.
00:28While this price hike has hit Apple's entire new lineup, you can still find solid deals
00:34on older MacBook Airs, which aren't just faster than the MacBook Neo, but could actually save
00:39you quite a bit of cash.
00:40But if you don't mind Windows, Dell's actually got their own budget competitor now, and thanks
00:45to Apple's price hike, it's way easier to recommend.
00:48The new XPS 13 matches the $699 starting price of the Neo, or $599 for students, but you actually
00:55get a slightly larger touchscreen, better IO, double the storage, and is thinner and lighter
01:01than the Neo.
01:01And it's the first budget Windows laptop I've tested in a long time that doesn't feel like
01:05junk.
01:05But let me know if you think the Neo is worth your money.
