00:09BOMBISPRE BARCELONAS
00:13I think the priority is the way to play in general,
00:19to be able to do this experience, see how it goes.
00:23After which position, I don't know yet, I can't tell you.
00:28But I wouldn't take any risks for anything else than general.
00:35I think if we do it in a good way, without having this negative energy,
00:40it's good for both of us and for the team.
00:43So I think we both really want to do what we did already in the past,
00:47to be on the podium behind Tadej and Jonas.
00:51It's been an amazing year for me so far.
00:54So, yeah, looking forward to hopefully continuing.
00:58The Tour de France is still the biggest race.
01:01It's still the race you really want to win.
01:05Competition between me and Jonas, of course,
01:07the last few years was spectacular, I would say.
01:11I think there's quite a few guys here that can aim for the victory.
01:17This guy next to me.
01:23What can you learn from each other in riding skills but also on personal skills?
01:31Was that the question?
01:32Yeah. What can you learn from each other in riding skills and also personal skills?
01:37It's because you seem that you are completely different riders and persons.
01:42I think that's why we don't need to learn from each other, no?
01:45Just be yourself and...
01:47I mean, it's like I would ask you,
01:50what do you want to learn from this journalist?
01:52Then I say to you, you're a bad journalist.
01:56It was a strange question, but...
01:59Thank you very much for this conference.
02:08The time for the team has taken on the first rider from the team to cross the line.
02:14Historically, a minimum of four riders had to cross the finish line together.
02:18Everyone will have kind of like their own finish line that they have to get to,
02:22they have to contribute to the team until that point,
02:24and that's where it's a lot more fun to think about strategically.
02:27The biggest difference is that you have a bit more the technical aspect
02:31of riding with eight guys and not alone.
02:33Stable speed is the most important,
02:35and the stronger guys, they should not go faster,
02:38they should go longer.
02:40With the typical final like we have here in Barcelona,
02:42with the uphill finish, obviously we need guys who have that uphill punch.
02:47It's the day you can either lose some time or win some time.
02:50They need to be as fresh as possible
02:52so they can deliver the best performance on the last climb.
02:55So it is obviously a focus point for us.
02:59It's a team time trial on paper, but actually it's a big lead out
03:03to get your first guy of the team as fast to the finish as possible.
03:13The first team time trial of the tour since 2019 when Visma triumphed in Brussels,
03:19this time in Barcelona, a shorter, more intense examination up to Montjuic.
03:24Teams won't have to finish as a group, the time marked by the rider who finishes first,
03:28but a warning for any left behind, they'll be awarded their own time when they cross.
03:33An intriguing debut to the tour in Catalunya.
03:38Wild card Caja Rujal Seguros out first, one of only two teams riding on home roads.
03:44Led by two-time tour stage winner Fernando Gaviria,
03:48but early on some teammates were having trouble keeping up.
03:52The two ascents up to Montjuic also proving problematic for the other Spanish outfit.
04:00Movistar have a problem here because Kierne Utebroek has blown up in this team time trial.
04:06On day number one, Kierne Utebroek could be shedding a significant amount of time.
04:12A big, big surprise for Movistar.
04:16One of the teams expected to set an early marker,
04:19yet Movistar's young Belgian not enjoying his first Tour de France experience.
04:24Net company Ineos arrived with a change of plans given Oscar Onley,
04:29fourth overall last year, was ruled out after crashing last month.
04:33A mechanical saw Kevin Vauclan wave the rest of the British train on.
04:37And with a two-time World TT champion in their ranks,
04:40no surprise, it's an Italian that set the first true marker of the day.
04:45Filippo Ganna, will he swap the tricolore for yellow?
04:50Wow, into the hot seat by 31 seconds.
04:55Here we go, into the line for Paul Sexas and he finishes exactly as Nico said,
05:0130 seconds down on Net company Ineos.
05:04Yeah, they did a very, very solid, I was going to say last three kilometres.
05:09The first threat to Ghana in Net company Ineos came from Lidltrek,
05:14matching their outputs at the second and third intermediate checks.
05:17Mateus Vacek proving the support before leader Juan Ayuso went solo.
05:22Yet it was not to be for the Barcelona-born rider as he too came up short.
05:27But he's going to be outside the time of Filippo Ganna.
05:31Ganna stays in the hot seat, Ayuso is going to go into second place.
05:38Lipovic is struggling right now. He cannot stay with Remco Avnipol and I think Remco's not even a look around.
05:46He's going to go all the way to the line now and just say,
05:49Lipovic, you want to be here, you need to survive.
05:52Remco Avnipol now sprints for the line. He's outside the time of Ghana.
05:56The Italian champion stays in the hot seat.
06:01Remco Avnipol is going to bring Red Bull Bora-Hansgrohe to the line with the third fastest time.
06:14Yet there remain two beasts left out on the track.
06:17Visma Vinogor and Pogacar's UAE. The great Dane ahead.
06:22The defending champion trying to make up time. A thrilling finale.
06:27This rider has already won the Giro d'Italia.
06:30He wants to send out a big message on day one of this Tour de France.
06:35Wengergaard is starting to tie up a little bit as well.
06:3821.55.20 into the virtual hot seat.
06:44And Del Toro's going to try and stay with him as long as he can, but he's unable to.
06:49Pogacar now starts to move.
06:51He gets out the saddle in that trademark style as he rocks and rolls a little bit.
06:58Wengergaard will be in yellow tonight.
07:00What has Pogacar got in answer?
07:02How many seconds is he going to lose to the Dane on day number one?
07:07It's going to be somewhere around 10.
07:09Pogacar finishes 11 seconds down.
07:21A stunning finish from Jonas Vidogor and success for Visma.
07:27The great Dane already with a Giro in his pocket.
07:29Now targeting a return to the top on the Tour.
07:33It's the perfect stuff to take the stage win for us and to take the yellow jersey.
07:38Also for me personally after a few years without it, a few hard years, it's nice for me to experience
07:47it again.
07:59Well the last team time trial on the Tour was won by Visma in Brussels seven years ago.
08:05The Dutch crew triumphant again in Barcelona.
08:07Visma led for the second intermediate checkpoint, Vidogor kicking to a seven second victory over Ineos in Ghana.
08:14And back in yellow, the first time for the Great Dane since he clinched the last of his two Tour
08:19titles in 2023.
08:24Egan Bernal, the first in green after Ineos were the fastest over the first section of the course.
08:30He may have missed out on his prized jersey, but the quickest up the climb gives Pogacar the polka dots
08:36for stage two.
08:39Why don't you sew in the white jersey for the best young rider a proud moment to earn in the
08:44city of his birth?
08:45And the youngest participant in almost a century, French Hope Paul Sexass at 23 seconds.
08:50This only the start of what promises to be another sensational Tour de France.
