00:00I'm originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
00:03It is my absolute honor to bear this once-a-day lifetime event,
00:09America's 250th birthday.
00:13I will describe for you today a demonstration of precision freefall
00:19as performed by members of your United States Army parachute team,
00:25The Golden Knights.
00:32At this time, members of the Golden demonstration team are circling high overhead.
01:27The American heritage, born of fire and sky, either command ready and break, and the jumpers
01:35will separate for two soft sand-up landings in the target area.
01:44With a quick pull-of-a-handle, Staff Sergeant Jonathan Pemberton will release the past 5,000-square-foot American
01:53flag.
01:55To keep the flag properly oriented, a 35-pound weight is attached to the log, adding a total
02:03of 150 extra pounds to the jumper.
02:07The flag is securely passed to the front of the jumper's harness, flying over attachment
02:13points, requiring exceptional skill to pilot both the parachute and the massive flag.
02:21Ladies and gentlemen, this concludes our performance for the day.
02:26Flight controls, we can move left, right, forward, backwards.
02:29Any orientation you can picture, that's how we can fly.
02:34Awesome.
02:34And then as he gets closer down to the ground, at about what altitude will he deploy his parachute
02:40as he makes his way in?
02:41Yeah, so Sergeant Eric Garcia was the wind dummy today, and he just deployed his parachute
02:46at approximately 3,000 feet.
02:48Wow.
02:49What a beautiful sight here over in the skies of our nation's capital, ladies and gentlemen.
02:53The United States Army Golden Knights with all glory flying on the canopy reading of the
02:59parachute there.
02:59Nate, what a beautiful sight we've got there.
03:02Yes, sir, Rob.
03:03It is actually so.
03:04When he deploys the parachute, the flag doesn't come down right away.
03:08On the parachute itself, we have what's called the flag up from the back.
03:13After we're in the canopy, Rob, we then deploy the 200 square foot American flag, making
03:19for a wonderful vision.
03:21Wow.
03:21That is absolutely spectacular.
03:23So how far do you think, Nate, until we see the next pass when we'll see some more
03:28jumpers at least going to the Navy?
03:29Sure.
03:30So on the next pass, you're going to see the Navy human frogs.
03:34And then on the third pass, we'll do a full demonstration from the Golden Knights,
03:39a full demonstration.
03:40Perfect.
03:41So how far do you think the second pass is?
03:44I will say the frogs will be 30 seconds.
03:47Okay.
