00:01Hello, and welcome to your Monday edition of It Takes Two, live on BBC Two and iPlayer!
00:07It's a fresh new week, yet we're still riding the highs and lows of the weekend's emotional rollercoaster,
00:13and now we're diving right into the best week of all, Blackpool!
00:18Yes, we'll be serving up all the pre-Blackpool backstage gossip that's whizzing in faster than the Big Dipper on
00:24double speed!
00:24Ha ha! So let's buckle ourselves in and take a look at what's coming up on tonight's show.
00:32Despite fearing their journey had been derailed, Valvinda and Julian are here to chat about their dance that's left them
00:38American smooth sailing securely on their way up north.
00:43Still not over that group dance? Join the club.
00:45Luckily, we've got some behind-the-scenes footage of how Jason Gilkerson and the Diversity Crew whipped up that spectacular
00:52number.
00:53And we've got Giant Clifton in the house, ready to dance next Saturday's performances.
01:01Fabulous.
01:02Plus, stay tuned, as I'll be revealing something very exciting later on that you definitely won't want to miss.
01:09And don't forget, you can send our couples your questions, so if you're wondering what Val and Jules' Blackpool road
01:14trip essentials are,
01:15then you can WhatsApp them on our number 0800-022-3801 or just scan the QR code on your screen.
01:24This weekend, we sadly said goodbye to Vicky and Kai.
01:27They can't be with us tonight, but will be joining us later on in the week.
01:31But there were still lots of other things to celebrate.
01:33Amber and Nikita topped the leaderboard for the first time since week two.
01:37Three tens were dished out and seven of our couples made it through to the sandy shores of Blackpool.
01:42And the judges seemed super excited, especially Craig.
01:46Let's take a look back at it all.
01:49Tonight, our eight couples danced to their place in Dutchpool.
01:54Oh, showbiz, baby.
01:59I loved it.
02:05You are absolutely gorgeous.
02:08I just adore this partnership.
02:11There was pure magic.
02:13You just sent goosebumps all over.
02:15And I think you're fantastic.
02:16The feeling and the emotions behind it then, this was really beautiful.
02:23For me, moving across the board, it was a little safe.
02:26I just needed just a little bit more power.
02:28I thought I could have done with a little bit more retraction.
02:31But you played that character brilliantly.
02:37I thought it was tremendous and you are getting better and better and better.
02:42Ten!
02:45The drama in that was absolutely magnificent.
02:47This is absolutely stunning.
02:50Yay!
02:54I found the whole thing very, very exciting.
02:59On Saturday night, Lewis and Katia performed the sultry tango that was anything but somber.
03:04Here's a reminder of their dance.
03:09I've been a judge for 18 years.
03:11I don't think there's ever a man that could dance a tango like this.
03:14I had goosebumps.
03:16Your arms give me the arm.
03:18If you don't do anything else, just walk around the floor with great arms.
03:21I'll give you 25.
03:22Because you are almost as perfect as you can be.
03:25I thought it was tremendous and you are getting better and better and better.
03:33Give it up for Lewis and Katia!
03:36Okay, before we get stuck in, on Saturday, you compared yourself to Claudia.
03:40And I think now we can see why.
03:42Oh.
03:43Well, he didn't compare.
03:44I think he passed out for him.
03:46Wow.
03:46Do you think you'd suit a fringe?
03:48I do, actually.
03:48It's kind of doing all right, though, isn't it?
03:50Well, what it was was Katia came back from makeup and she had the eyes.
03:54And I was like, you can't be the only one that's unfunnier.
03:57So I asked for the guy liner.
03:59You're like, I want to be in on it, too.
04:01You didn't want to have the FOMO.
04:02It's been good, didn't you?
04:03On a night full of big props and CGI, you did a strip-back tango.
04:08How much did you enjoy the intensity of this routine?
04:11I loved it.
04:12I thought it was very dramatic.
04:13I loved how, you know, they worked with the lighting and made it very focused.
04:17And it was just about two people dancing and, you know, no frills.
04:21And it was quite nice to just dance like that, actually.
04:24It was crazy because, I mean, big shout-out to Bish and the whole team.
04:30Yes, big up.
04:31Because it was spectacular.
04:32We worked together.
04:33You know, I had to bear in mind when choreographing, the spotlights are going to pop up and down.
04:37How are we going to be invisible in the transition?
04:40Oh, yeah, of course.
04:41But on Friday, we did it for the first time, right?
04:45They turned all the lights off to create this mood, right?
04:48So no speakers.
04:49We couldn't see anything.
04:51We literally were like, where are you?
04:53I'm coming for you.
04:54I can't see you.
04:55And it really put us off, didn't it?
04:58But then it was nice because they found the balance.
05:00It was great.
05:00It was impressive to see.
05:02It was amazing.
05:03And the intensity was definitely there.
05:05I mean, you held the last pose for like 10 seconds.
05:09You were so in it.
05:10Bang!
05:11Boom.
05:12Look at that.
05:13I was like, yes, stretch.
05:14I think I was enjoying the stretch, yeah.
05:18Just stay a little longer.
05:19How difficult was it to hold an intense pose like that, especially where you can hear the roar of the
05:24crowd behind you?
05:25Do you know what?
05:25I didn't even think that we were holding up for that long.
05:28Ah, okay.
05:28I think we were just in the moment.
05:30We were kind of in the mood.
05:31We were soaking up the atmosphere.
05:33And it just felt nice.
05:33And actually, I think I was just having a nice stretch.
05:36It's just stretching the arm out.
05:38Actually, my shoulders need this.
05:39I love that.
05:40Now, your aim last week was to try hard to not look like you were trying hard.
05:44So, how hard was it to try and do that?
05:47It was hard.
05:50It was, well, we try to just try very hard.
05:56In the rehearsal room.
05:58And then just try to relax for the night.
06:00That was kind of the game plan, wasn't it?
06:02Yeah.
06:03By Friday, you know, I was like, I can't keep giving him any more information.
06:08I just had to let him enjoy it and embrace that moment and just do whatever he can possibly.
06:16Because, yeah.
06:18Yeah.
06:19You're like, yeah.
06:20Yeah.
06:20He's like, yeah.
06:21Okay, well, it's time to let go of the tango.
06:23Yeah.
06:24You are through to Blackpool.
06:25Yeah.
06:25This is so exciting.
06:27You'll be doing a Charleston.
06:28You're doing a Charleston.
06:29Yeah.
06:29To a version of this.
06:30I bet that you look good on the dance floor.
06:35I hope we do.
06:35I think we do.
06:37Well, that's what I want to ask.
06:39Because it's early days.
06:40Yeah.
06:40But what does Lewis need to do to make sure that he looks good on the dance floor?
06:44Not much.
06:46Now, do you know what?
06:48I think Charleston is a perfect dance for Blackpool.
06:51But also, like you mentioned, for a few weeks, we really have stripped back all the, you know,
06:58the props, the big tricks, and we've done quick stuff, we've done chacha, we've gone straight tango.
07:04He really has been just getting stuck into the technique of every dance.
07:10So it's time for him to just let loose big energy, big moves.
07:16And I'm really looking forward for you to feel, because it's a celebration of how far they've come,
07:21making it to Blackpool.
07:22Yes, it's amazing.
07:23And I said, we're taking them not as contestants anymore.
07:25They're our dance partners now.
07:27Oh, they're real dancers.
07:29And I really want you to just feel free, you know.
07:33And that's what we're going to do.
07:34Fun, energy, of course, it's going to be precise, because that's what we do.
07:41Lots of hard work will go in.
07:42But I just want you to really remember that moment, you know.
07:46Yeah, and soak it all up, because it's really exciting.
07:48It's so cool you got to this point.
07:49Last week, you described the tango as the strict one.
07:52Yeah.
07:52How would you describe the Charleston?
07:54I think it's exactly what you said.
07:56It's the free one, I think.
07:57I mean, of course, there's so much, you know, placement and technique and keeping in time
08:02with the music, because you have to kind of be on the beat all of the time and not let
08:05the music run away from you.
08:07So there's all of that to worry about and to, you know, fix and do.
08:11But I think, you know, you can open up a little bit.
08:15I'm not going to have to do this for 90 seconds in a squat.
08:18So I think it'll be good to just kind of let loose.
08:22And then Katya.
08:23Yeah.
08:23Katya, I mean, Lewis has probably heard all about this, how springy the floor is in Blackpool.
08:28How perfect is the floor for a dance like this?
08:31It is if you're in sync, because if you're not the other person, it's like a trampoline.
08:36Yeah, and good luck to the front row as well, because there will be some cool moves.
08:44I'm letting him go rogue and loose.
08:46I'm yet to see them.
08:48I can't wait to see the free one.
08:50I can't wait to see you springing all over the floor.
08:52Best of luck in training.
08:54It's Lewis and Katya.
08:59All right, time to take a look back at when backflips met ballroom.
09:03Here's some behind-the-scenes footage of how Jason Gilkerson and our Strictly pros teamed
09:07up with Ashley Banjo and the Diversity crew.
09:12Diversity and Strictly are getting together to do something pretty incredible.
09:16Maybe there's almost like a moment where we're all rounding in a circle, party moment.
09:20They accept the catch.
09:21Yeah, that makes sense, totally.
09:23I can't believe we haven't done this before.
09:24It feels a bit more like, yeah.
09:28Over the years, we've never managed to find our way to Strictly, so to be here is amazing.
09:33Well, I can do that.
09:34Believe it?
09:39We're in the really early stages of rehearsals.
09:42Five, six, seven, and one.
09:44If you have an idea, you can just put it in.
09:47You can actually start to work out what that might look like.
09:50I love this stage.
09:52One, two, three.
09:55Ashley and Jason actually work really well together, even though their styles are very different.
09:59Those two girls could be coming through and around to the boys.
10:03To see them combining their ideas and, like, moulding it into one, it's very inspiring.
10:09Oh, I have a goosebumps.
10:12The energy's wicked in the room.
10:13This is why we like working in these environments, especially with people who are as talented as the Strictly Pro.
10:19I'm enjoying not just rehearsing, but also being entertained by incredible dancers.
10:28We've been really clear of the whole narrative of the routine, but the one thing that has sort of escaped
10:33us is how it ends.
10:35We've got some big ideas that we're still yet to weave in.
10:38If we can, it's going to be a banger.
10:44We're just a day away from it being ready for a performance, so that's an exciting place to be in.
10:50When this starts, you can start going.
10:54So if we can set them at the top, leave everybody.
10:57You can rehearse as much as you want, but actually being here with the lights and the cameras, everything changes.
11:03Stop, stop, stop, stop.
11:05The girls can't cross, otherwise they'll be running in front of Luba.
11:09I think we need to push the floors generally, Matt.
11:12This is so complicated, because there's just so many people on the floor doing so much.
11:15There's clearly a lot of work to be done in terms of our lighting cues, but it's going to be
11:18absolutely amazing.
11:20Okay, we're going to the end of this sequence now, so Yvita and Perry on centre.
11:24After persevering, we actually do have an ending now, so it's just a case of putting it on the stage.
11:29I think it's going to work, it's amazing.
11:32We are this close to being finished.
11:34Fingers crossed.
11:37Fingers crossed.
12:12Well, diversity has certainly finally crossed paths for a moment.
12:20Now the moment you've been waiting for, it's time to reveal our exclusive news.
12:27For one night only, on Saturday the 29th of November, our couples will take part in a brand new challenge
12:34called Instant Dance.
12:38After all our remaining couples have performed, they'll return to the floor for a second round of dancing to a
12:44star that they've already performed this series.
12:46But here's the twist.
12:47The couples won't know what dance, what costumes they'll be wearing, or even what song they'll be performing to until
12:55moments before they start.
12:58They'll then have just 40 seconds to perform their instant dance, and the judges will, of course, be watching and
13:05will award extra marks to the couples from six to one.
13:08Awarding a maximum of six to the most impressive couple, and a minimum of one to the least.
13:14Marks that could flip the leaderboard completely on its head.
13:19That's all going to be happening live, and it's going to be so much fun.
13:23You won't want to miss it.
13:26Now, if anyone's more excited for Blackpool than me, it's Blackpool royalty Joanne Clifton.
13:31She's so iconic there.
13:32Even the seagulls asked for her autograph.
13:36It's time for Choreography Corner.
13:55OK, let's get straight into Saturday Night's Dance.
13:59Let's start with Lewis and Katia and the tango.
14:01Now, both Anton and Shirley agree that Lewis needs to work on his arms.
14:05How would you help him improve?
14:06Well, as we can see from the clip, what he's doing is pulling his right arm, the one around Katia,
14:11he pulls that one back, and his left arm goes forward.
14:14Right, so when you're a beginner at Ballroom, we tell you to do the hot cross bun kind of thing,
14:20and we even tie a broomstick across your elbow so you get your elbows back and up.
14:24But let me get my diagram, because I think he is now a level up.
14:28I do love your drawings.
14:30Right, yeah.
14:30So what he's doing here is pulling back his right one, squashing Katia,
14:35and that way she's pulling his left arm forward.
14:39What we need to do is actually have the left elbow in line with his shoulder,
14:43and it's the right one that comes five or six centimetres forward,
14:46so it goes around Katia like that.
14:48The shoulders are parallel, and we've got that in a good frame.
14:52Like a tuna sandwich, here we are, Lewis's body, Katia, Lewis's arm.
14:57That's how you should hold her like that.
14:59If you do this, she's going to fall out.
15:00OK, thank you. Such an artist.
15:04On to Alex and Johannes. Let's talk about the waltz.
15:07Now, Motsi described this dance as pure magic.
15:10What did you enjoy the most about this routine?
15:12I actually got quite emotional, because it's a song that myself and Kev
15:15had probably danced to since we were like four or five.
15:18Now, I had some British coaches called the Grovers who would tell me,
15:23your best friend is the floor, and I agreed with the judges.
15:27She used that floor with her feet and legs,
15:28and so her top line looked effortless,
15:31but she did get some criticism in the pivots, especially head position,
15:35so let's do that in demo time.
15:38Come on, sir.
15:39Right, come here, you.
15:40Right, we're going to do the pivots, OK?
15:43Back on your left.
15:44We're going to go one, two, three, one,
15:48and two, three, still got it, still got it, still got it.
15:51Now, what Alex is doing,
15:54she had her head positioned here through the whole time,
15:56and it looked a bit stressed, and the shoulders came up.
15:58I know why she was doing that,
16:00because if she looked over to this way to her left too much,
16:03the shoulder would go,
16:04so Johannes obviously had her there.
16:06I want somewhere in between.
16:08I want a soft neck that actually on every count two moves,
16:12so it's one, two, three, one and two, three,
16:16so it's actually doing this and not involving the shoulders.
16:19She's got to think about the chinography as well, then.
16:22OK, on to LaVoie and Aliash and the couple's choice.
16:25Now, Craig felt LaVoie's footwork was a little haphazard and messy.
16:29Do you agree?
16:29I wouldn't say it was messy.
16:31I did see some moments like this, for example,
16:33her feet are not together, so it's not quite precise,
16:36but it wasn't all the time.
16:39Now, even there on the outs and ins,
16:40what I would have liked maybe from her feet
16:42is to be a little bit sharper.
16:45I think what she was doing a little bit was like,
16:47ba-ba, ba-ba, ba-ba, ba-ba,
16:49because that's the steps.
16:50But if she was just slightly sharper and more precise,
16:53da-da, da-da, da-da, da-da, da-da, da-da.
16:55And it would give some speed changes to the thing
16:58and just make it a little bit more exciting.
17:00But she told the story.
17:01I really, really loved it.
17:02It was just missing da-da-da, da-da, da-da.
17:05On to Karen and Carlos and the American Smoothie,
17:07that Anton and Craig felt this dance was a little brittle and spiky
17:10and they wanted more softness and fluidity from Karen.
17:13So how can she work on this?
17:14Right.
17:15Brace yourselves.
17:15I'm going to get scientific here.
17:17Oh.
17:17Because I actually studied this in Italy where I trained
17:20because we studied with the IOC,
17:23Italian Olympic Committee,
17:24about athletes and they came in and spoke to us about dancers.
17:27Right.
17:27And they were talking about fibres in the muscles.
17:29Now, there's two types
17:31and you can have more or less of one or the other.
17:33There's the fast twitch muscle fibre,
17:36which is basically it reacts quickly to the messages coming,
17:40what your brain is telling it to do.
17:41And it's very fast.
17:42But that could come across stiff in these types of dances
17:45and spiky, you know,
17:47and even a little bit ahead of music.
17:50The other one is the slow twitch muscle fibre.
17:53That you can fill out the music more.
17:55It can be a little bit softer,
17:56but it makes you less reactive to, say, leads and stuff like that.
17:59So she's definitely got that, the fast one.
18:02And in, like, together with her training with football,
18:05where, oh, the ball's suddenly over there,
18:06she's got to react quickly.
18:07She would have trained and done all the exercises for that.
18:10I think that's what the problem is.
18:12Now, you can train it a little bit with really slow stretches.
18:16You can jump and focus on a really slow landing into the knees.
18:21But I think, like, for the competition,
18:23all she has to mainly think about
18:24is filling every millisecond of that music
18:26and making everything the longest distance from A to B.
18:31OK, on to George and Alexis and the rumba.
18:34Shirley pointed out that George went slightly out of sync,
18:37something the judges have mentioned in the past.
18:38So how can he improve his coordination and his timing?
18:41Well, if we look at the clip,
18:42you will see some hip actions in a second
18:45where they go slightly out of sync.
18:47It's here, look.
18:48Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.
18:50Because it wasn't quite together.
18:51Now, I think for non-dancers,
18:53the hard thing about rumba and cha-cha-cha
18:55is that the first step, a lot of the time,
18:58is on the two rather than the one.
19:00I get that because when I do tap in musicals,
19:03they do a time step and they start on the eight and one.
19:05And I'm like, why?
19:06Because I just want to start on the one.
19:07So I think they have that.
19:09And you could see with his hip action,
19:10he wanted to go on the one,
19:12but then, oh, no, I should go on the two.
19:14So a way of kind of getting that into your brain
19:16is going with the words of the music.
19:19Now, that particular piece of music,
19:20the count two,
19:21when he should have done that hip action,
19:23was on the word complete
19:24and it was on the word comp.
19:26So, da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da,
19:28maybe complete.
19:30So he needs to find the words
19:32and the beats in the music
19:33that will absolutely make it clear
19:35when he's got to do it.
19:36Yes, okay.
19:37On to Balvinda and Julian and the American Smooth.
19:40Lotsie felt a carefulness
19:41when Bal and Julian danced together
19:43that held back Bal's performance.
19:45Did you agree?
19:45Did you see that?
19:48Well, first of all,
19:49here, there was a little bit
19:51where she was nearly going to go ahead with the music,
19:53but then realised,
19:55and, oh, and her eyes went down.
19:56Okay, and maybe that's what she saw,
19:58but I actually,
19:59what the do-do saw, I mean,
20:00but I actually thought it was intentional,
20:02the kind of like cutesy, subtle, understated,
20:05and I thought she did that beautifully.
20:07However, in Blackpool now,
20:08what we need to do,
20:09we need to get those eyes
20:11right up to the first balcony,
20:13there,
20:13if there's like out-of-hold things,
20:16we need this sternum,
20:17a spotlight to shine up to the first balcony
20:19to just give the impression,
20:21even if she is nervous or does slightly go,
20:23oh, the judge has seen it,
20:25but it gives the impression that she's confident.
20:26Mm-hmm.
20:27You've always got to be wrong and strong.
20:28Always wrong and strong.
20:29On to Amber and Nikita and the Paso Doble.
20:31Now, they topped the leaderboard,
20:32but Craig and Shirley both wanted more shaping
20:35in Amber's torso,
20:36more extension beyond the frame.
20:38How can she work on that?
20:39Well, I actually wrote,
20:40the first thing I wrote was,
20:41when she was in the picture frame there,
20:43right at the beginning,
20:44I was like, oh, great shaping.
20:46But here, you can see she's inside the frame.
20:49She's actually doing what I call the Shirley head.
20:50When Shirley judges,
20:51she gets into it,
20:52and she puts her chin down like this.
20:53So she's doing the Shirley head,
20:56and so her head goes inside the hula hoop
20:59instead of keeping it out.
21:00And what I would love as well
21:01is for her body to have a little bit more torsion in it,
21:04like wringing a wet towel,
21:06wringing that water out
21:07so that we've got stretches going on inside there,
21:11inside the torso.
21:13Lovely.
21:13Well, thank you so much.
21:14I love the demo time,
21:15and you brought us some science today.
21:16Are you happy to do it next week?
21:18Yeah, definitely.
21:19Let's hear it for Joanne Clifton!
21:24Up next,
21:25Valvinda and Julian are here
21:26to chat about how sweet,
21:28their sweet as pie American smooth
21:30took things from pretty in pink
21:31to rocky in red
21:32that nothing anyone could do
21:34could take away their fighting spirit,
21:36and they've secured their place
21:37in the Tower Ballroom.
21:38Here's a reminder of the dance
21:40that got them there.
21:43I thought you had lovely musicality,
21:45lovely characterisation.
21:46I thought you sold it beautifully.
21:50The minute you guys get together,
21:52there's a slight carefulness,
21:54and that takes it a little bit away
21:56of your performance skills.
21:58You always dance with conviction,
22:01and you're the most beautiful storyteller as well.
22:12What do you make of the fact that you're going to be dancing
22:18in the iconic Tower Ballroom bow?
22:21I couldn't believe it when I heard we got through.
22:23I mean, I wasn't expecting to get this far
22:25in the competition, to be honest with you.
22:26It was never in sight.
22:28I just thought, we'll go as far as we go,
22:30and we'll see what happens.
22:31So, it's a beautiful surprise,
22:34and I can't quite compute it.
22:38Yeah, it's so exciting.
22:39And Jules, this is a first for you as well.
22:42How excited are you,
22:43especially because you're going to be sharing
22:44that experience with Bona?
22:45I mean, everything is a first, you know, this year,
22:49and to be able to go through it together
22:50is just amazing.
22:52I'm so excited to see...
22:54I've been saying, like, even all day,
22:55like, I can't wait to actually experience this week
22:58because everyone's been talking about
23:00how amazing it is, how big it is,
23:02the energy in the room, all this stuff,
23:04and, yeah, I'm just...
23:05I'm absolutely buzzing to be out there.
23:08I'm excited for both of you.
23:09It's going to be so much fun.
23:11Now, back to the weekend
23:12and your American Smooth that got you to this point.
23:14You mentioned struggling with some of the footwork,
23:16but you were really excited about the lift.
23:19Yeah.
23:19Did you think you'd ever be saying that,
23:21especially at this point in the competition?
23:22No, I didn't.
23:23I didn't.
23:23But that just goes to show
23:25how this partnership is working,
23:27that I put so much trust in Jules.
23:30Eventually.
23:31Yeah, eventually.
23:31And first, because...
23:32Totally.
23:32Because she loves...
23:34So, Bona's been talking about this last lift
23:36that she loves so much,
23:38but when I was telling her about it in the first place,
23:41she goes,
23:43have you got another option?
23:45Have you got a plan B?
23:46Yeah.
23:46And I was like, no.
23:47No, I do not.
23:48No.
23:49And so I was like, okay, cool,
23:50because I knew the answer would be no.
23:51I thought I'd ask anyway.
23:52But then I was like,
23:53you know what?
23:54I'm actually...
23:55Monday, Tuesday was a little bit difficult
23:56and I thought, oh, gosh,
23:57this is going to really, like...
23:58It's going to kill me.
23:59And then I thought, no, you know what?
24:00I'm going to go in on Wednesday
24:01and I'm going to play.
24:03I'm going to play with Jules
24:04and I'm just going to let go and be free.
24:07And we did.
24:07Yeah, it's like kids in a playground.
24:09And it was beautiful.
24:10And that last lift...
24:11I love it.
24:12It's my favourite lift ever, ever.
24:15I've watched it a hundred times.
24:16I just keep going.
24:17That's me doing that.
24:19That's amazing.
24:20But you did ultimately find yourself
24:21in the dance-off with Vicky.
24:23I'm sorry to bring it up.
24:24It's part of the journey.
24:26How did you navigate a moment like that,
24:28especially because it was your full time there?
24:29What was going through your mind?
24:30So, okay, what was going through my mind
24:33was I knew we were going to be in the dance-off.
24:35There was something in my heart
24:36that just went,
24:37we're going to be in the dance-off.
24:37Then when I saw who was lined up,
24:40I was like, this is awful.
24:42And then they announced Vicky first.
24:44And I don't know if you've seen me in the...
24:45You know, I just was like, I can't.
24:48Because we became quite close.
24:50We were quite good friends.
24:52She's always been there.
24:53And our journey together has been really solid.
24:57And we've got a solid network.
24:58And I just thought, I don't want to be the one...
25:03To knock your friend out of a competition.
25:04Or her knock me out.
25:07It was horrible, horrible.
25:09It's horrible with anybody,
25:10but someone that you've got close to
25:11is not the way you want it to, you know, play out.
25:15But...
25:15It's just the nature of the competition, unfortunately.
25:17It's unfortunately how the strictly cookie crumbles.
25:19I know.
25:19It's how it goes.
25:20But to be honest, like, kudos to Bao
25:23because it was gut-wrenching and it was terrible.
25:25But, you know, obviously the experience
25:28of having done it a few times, I think,
25:30you know, came into play as well
25:32because Bao was just...
25:33I'd never seen her in the dance-off so confident.
25:37And so I was just like, you know what?
25:39I've got a second chance.
25:40I'm just going to go out there.
25:41I'm going to apply the feedback.
25:43And what will be will be.
25:44And so well done to you.
25:46You absolutely smashed it.
25:47And do you know what?
25:48You actually had a lot of fun last week
25:50because we saw that you took Jules to work with you.
25:52Oh, yeah.
25:52So we thought we'd give you the opportunity, Jules,
25:55to try and audition for a role in extended.
25:59Oh, yeah, OK.
26:00Yeah, you up for it?
26:01Come on.
26:01Do you want to see it right now?
26:02OK, you're lying.
26:03Right now, right in the second.
26:04OK, yeah, right now.
26:05Right there.
26:06There's your lines.
26:07Take it.
26:07All right, all right.
26:08Jules, you can't dance your way out of this one.
26:10Not on my square.
26:12Bao, if I can face Craig's scores,
26:14I can face anything you throw at me.
26:16Then step sharp, Jules,
26:17because tonight one of us leaves
26:19with more than just glitter on our hands.
26:23All right.
26:26Yes!
26:28See, incredible.
26:30OK, let's look ahead to this week.
26:32That was so good.
26:33We can exclusively reveal
26:35you'll be dancing an Argentine tango.
26:37Yes!
26:40The logical song, Super Tramp.
26:43Very, very nice.
26:44Now, as a Strictly super fan, Bao,
26:46you've been really excited to do an Argentine tango.
26:48I can't tell you.
26:50My whole reason for coming on Strictly
26:52was to do the Argentine tango.
26:53Oh, really?
26:53Yeah, yeah, yeah.
26:54I was like, and I don't mind where it comes.
26:56One, two, three, four.
26:57For however long I'm in the competition,
26:58please let me just do the Argentine tango.
27:01How lucky am I that it falls on Blackpool week?
27:05I know.
27:05Like, the stars have just aligned for us this series.
27:08I'm like, I can't,
27:10I don't know who's pulling the strings up there,
27:11but I feel incredibly blessed.
27:13Yes, it's very cool.
27:14And you've got Leandro Maria
27:15popping up with the choreography.
27:17Jules, how do you approach training
27:18when you've got extra choreographers?
27:20Honestly, you just try and tap into their expertise.
27:23I mean, you know,
27:24things like Argentine and Charleston,
27:26or, you know,
27:27depending on your couples choice genre as well,
27:29you know,
27:29they're obviously outside of the,
27:30you know,
27:31the normal,
27:32I would say,
27:32ballroom and Latin dancers
27:33that, you know,
27:33we're trained in.
27:34So to have people like them,
27:36you know,
27:37helping us with the choreography
27:38and to tap into their knowledge
27:40is so invaluable.
27:42I could take a little bit of a backseat.
27:43Yeah, exactly.
27:44It's a nice moment.
27:45It's a nice moment.
27:45I can relax.
27:46I'm like,
27:47Leo,
27:47I think she needs to practice it with you again.
27:49I'm having my coffee here.
27:50Honestly,
27:51I'm so excited to see you
27:52on the Blackpool floor.
27:53But you know what as well,
27:54on that,
27:55like,
27:55you're really excited
27:56to be doing the Argentine tango as well.
27:58Very much so.
27:58to see your face light up
27:59in a way that I haven't,
28:00because you're always going,
28:01you're like,
28:01you're drilling the...
28:02I can't wait to see the Ganchos,
28:04honestly.
28:04Good luck, guys.
28:05My God.
28:05Get some Blackpool rock as well for me.
28:07It's Barbenda and Julia.
28:10That's it.
28:10I'm back tomorrow
28:11with hair and makeup royalty,
28:12makeup designer Lisa Armstrong
28:14and hair designer Lisa Davey.
28:15They'll be here sharing their insights
28:17on their favourite looks of the series.
28:19See you tomorrow.
