00:00I was really interested in the Iwa, how you showed the Great Mother,
00:04and if it was inspired at all by 2001.
00:07I just loved how you unfolded it in this film.
00:10I did. It's a really good question because I said,
00:13I want the luminous quality of the star baby at the end of 2001.
00:19I want to just, and we see that character sort of turning almost toward us, you know.
00:26But I said, but this is different because her hair is blowing in these kind of underwater currents,
00:32and is it leaves? Is it kelp? Is it seaweed? Sargassum?
00:35You know, what is it? We don't really know.
00:39And what does she look like? We see a big eye. We don't really know.
00:44And, you know, but I did want to tease to the fact that she's a real entity.
00:49She's a real being. She really exists, or at least she can manifest herself in some visual form.
00:55I always see the spirit world, which the Navi call the Oma,
01:00when they plug in and they can go there.
01:02They don't necessarily get to talk to her.
01:04They're not plugging in straight to Iwa anymore than,
01:07I can go online, I can email people, I can go to websites.
01:10All of those functionalities would exist in the kind of the Oma.
01:15Just because I'm in the Oma doesn't mean I get to talk directly to the President or the Pope, right?
01:21You've still got to go through some channels here, right?
01:24Now, Kiri obviously has the inside track with the Great Mother for reasons we don't quite understand yet.
01:30But she also is in a very fraught relationship where there's something that the Great Mother is hiding or concealing
01:36from Kiri
01:38that is not explained. There's one thing that's not explained in this movie.
01:41Everything else is explained in this movie.
01:44But, you know, there's also that idea of kind of hooking forward into the continuation of the saga.
01:51And if we don't get to continue the saga, I'll just, I don't know, I'll do a press release.
01:55Okay, here's the story. This is what we were going to do.
01:57Okay.
