00:04This week our celebs are evacuating the dance floor here at Elstree and they're heading up north to dance in
00:10the iconic Tower Ballroom instead!
00:13What a weekend it promises to be and here's what I've got lined up for you on this terrific Tuesday.
00:21It was so close to picture perfect for Amber and Nikita on Saturday as their intensity and frame led to
00:27two more tens.
00:28Now they've gone from dream on to dreaming of that fresh seaside hair.
00:34They made their waltz in the woods look like a walk in the park.
00:38Alex and Johannes bounced back in style on Saturday and secured a spot in Blackpool with a tremendous routine.
00:44And they're the glam squad behind some of the most iconic Strictly looks.
00:48I'll be brushing up on how hair and makeup's Lisa Davey and Lisa Armstrong make the magic happen.
00:54But first tonight it's time for the Strictly musical chart that has more ups and downs than our crew have
00:59to do flights of stairs to get all the kit into the Tower Ballroom.
01:02It's time for Top of the Box!
01:10Welcome to a very special Blackpool edition of It Takes Two's Top of the Box!
01:16In case you missed it on the results show, here's a rundown of the songs our couples will be dancing
01:20to at the famous Tower Ballroom.
01:22So, in no particular order, just like a rollercoaster, here's who's up and who's down in this week's Top 7.
01:30Straight in at 7, a logical choice for Balvinda and Julian who will be dancing the fifth Blackpool Argentine tango
01:37to the logical song by Supertramp.
01:41Down 1 at 6, it's Double Trouble for Alex and Johannes as they dance to both Look At Me and
01:46History Repeating.
01:48But will Blackpool history be repeating with the couples choice taking the top spot for a fourth consecutive year?
01:55At 5, it's Party Time for George and Alexis as they're doing a Salsa to Rock This Party by Bob
02:01Sinclair.
02:01They'll be hoping the party doesn't stop in Blackpool.
02:06A returner at 4, Amber's quick step will be to 90's classic S Club 7's Reach.
02:11But will she reach for the stars and the top of the leaderboard up north?
02:17Now the moment you've all been waiting for, it's the Blackpool Top 3, again in no particular order.
02:24On the rise at 3, there's something in the seaside air.
02:28La Voix and Aliash will be sambering to this.
02:32That's John Paul Young's Love Is In The Air and La Voix will be hoping her dance gets some love
02:37from the judges on Saturday.
02:40At 2, Lewis and Katia will be hoping they look good on the dance floor with a Charleston to this.
02:47That's the Arctic Monkeys 2006 breakthrough hit, I Bet You Look Good On The Dance Floor.
02:52It's one and only previous Strictly outing was in the final for Joe Sugg's show dance with Diane back in
02:58Series 16.
03:01And claiming that number one spot, it's Karen and Carlos.
03:04They'll be dancing a Paso Doble to a version of this.
03:09Instantly recognisable, full of drama, perfect for a tower ballroom pato.
03:14This will be the song's fourth time on Strictly, but will Fortuna favour the brave this weekend?
03:20And that's it for this week's special Blackpool edition of Top of the Box.
03:28Right, from chart toppers to table toppers, Amber and Nikita led the way on Saturday night after a Paso that
03:34can only be described like this.
03:36So it's all dramatic here and you wander around over there and it's all like that and it's suddenly like
03:40wha!
03:41And then you walk away over there like that and give it a bit of that frocky frocky frocky.
03:44I love that and wham the back bend over there.
03:47Beautifully put.
03:51I love the fact that every single dance looks so different.
03:55This is absolutely stunning.
03:58I would have liked to have seen a little bit more side stretch so that your head is outside the
04:02frame.
04:02Having that aside, the way you use your arms when you turn, you demonstrate it exquisitely.
04:09The drama in that was absolutely magnificent.
04:11You danced with purpose. I thought it was brilliant.

04:25Yes, it was very nice. It was very nice.
04:28It's the first time I've seen it actually.
04:30Oh, was that your first review?
04:31I just watched it now on the screen actually.

04:34I've watched it about 47 times.
04:36Okay, so Amber, where does this rank for you compared to the other dancers you've done so far?
04:41It's top.
04:43Really?
04:43It's 100% top.
04:45The week we had, like, he's literally, his passion is infectious.
04:53Like, the way he spoke about the Paso, I couldn't help but love it myself.
04:57Okay.
04:58Before we even started, you know.
05:00And it was very different to what we've done before.
05:03Yeah, very different.
05:04So, even the way, like, your body moves and the shapes that you do, it was a bit like that.
05:10Yeah.
05:10And so, you know, I kind of liked to go there because it was uncomfortable.
05:16So, yeah, I loved it.
05:17I loved last week.
05:18You smashed it.
05:19You really smashed it.
05:20I hope we can keep the positive vibe for Blackpool.

05:28Nikita, you mentioned to Claudia that this wasn't a Paso song.
05:32Why wasn't it a Paso song and how did you adapt the style?
05:35No, of course not.
05:36Oh, he's never going to let me down if I can forget that.
05:39Yeah, so it wasn't a Paso song.
05:42Yeah, why wasn't it and how did you adapt it then based on the music?
05:46We, you see, I couldn't use any of the basic figures.
05:51Therefore, I was bouncing a little bit more of the voice of the crescendo of the drums,
05:57of the little nuggets of music and everything.
05:59Because the rhythm was different.
06:00The rhythm was completely different, yeah.
06:02Because Paso is ta-ka-ra-ta-ka-ra-ta.
06:04And this was one and two and four.
06:07And four.
06:08So you either go.
06:09Yeah.
06:10Did you like my notes?
06:11I liked it.
06:12A little singing queen.

06:16So you either could go really fast or really slow.
06:19And the most important thing, I think, in either one of those options,
06:23it was embracing the depth, the character, the kind of like the intensity.

06:37And I was just seeing, you know, like you could see it in real time.
06:40And I could see Amber just going into those shapes.

08:27And to bring, that's going to be our goal, isn't it?
08:30Bringing the party and the positive energy to the ball ring.
08:33And I think even today when we're rehearsing, you naturally smile dancing that song.

09:00How do you go about that in training, Nikita, when you're thinking about the space?
09:05Well, you sort of improvise and you hope that the training room is as big as it can be.
09:11But I think that's the wonderful thing about Blackpool, isn't it?
09:14Just being able to run.
09:17Yeah.
09:18Honestly, it's been a dream of mine to do a quick step in Blackpool and to run across that ballroom.
09:25I mean, I cannot wait to dance with you.
09:29I cannot wait to show you Blackpool.
09:31I know.
09:31You know what I mean?
09:32It's just...
09:33I'm excited, excited, excited.
09:35And I've heard about this bouncy floor.
09:36Yeah, bouncy floor.

09:42You performed in some incredible places though, Amber, but how does it feel to add the Tower

09:51I feel like the fact that we've even got to Blackpool is like a dream come true.
09:56And, you know, this has been such a special and incredible experience.
10:01The fact that we get to do a quick step there, it's like, you know, everything else
10:06is like a bonus now.

11:29I'm now joined by Strictly makeup designer Lisa Armstrong and Strictly hair designer Lisa Davies.
11:37I'm coming to you first, Lisa Armstrong or Lisa A for the purposes of today, we've got Lisa Squared.
11:43We've now lost over half of the celebs in the competition, but have your Saturday slowed down as well?
11:48Not at all, not at all. It just gets busier and busier.
11:51And obviously we're heading off to Blackpool this weekend.
11:53So, so many more group dances, music act numbers.
11:57You know, it just gets bigger and better every year.
11:59So, still as busy, you know what it's like in the makeup room.
12:02There's always a buzz.
12:03Always a buzz.
12:04It's so much fun. That's where you get all the buzz.
12:06Okay, over to Lisa D.
12:07So, we've just mentioned we're going to Blackpool.
12:09There's limited space in the Blackpool Tower.
12:12How do you deal with that?
12:13Well, I mean, there's 20 of us all together.
12:16We're all squished into this, like, long corridor of a makeup room.
12:19And, yeah, I mean, we, like, have the itinerary, get everything sent up the week before with the prop boys.
12:24And then we get there and try and unpack it in this, like, really small space with all of us.
12:28It's quite a lot.
12:29But, you know, we make it work.
12:30We've done it every year.
12:31So, it's all good.
12:32Yeah, you know what you're doing.
12:33We know what we're doing.
12:34Well, we found two more models for you today that, thankfully, are not bears.
12:38Yeah.
12:39So, we've got Molly and Zara, students from Elstree Screen Arts Academy.
12:45Yeah, yeah.
12:45And you're going to be recreating two looks with them.
12:49Yes.
12:49So, Lisa, you're going to recreate Lauren's look.
12:52Yes.
12:52From the Wicked group number.
12:53Yes, that was our pro number on Movie Week.
12:55So, I just thought that we'll recreate that number because it's so current and so on trend at the moment.
13:00And just to show the viewer, as well, how you can use colour and make it look fabulous.
13:04Okay.
13:05Nice.
13:05And, Lisa, you've chosen to recreate Amber's Argentine Tango look.
13:09Similar, really.
13:10It's like party season, isn't it?
13:12So, this is something that people can do themselves.
13:14It's really easy.
13:15You don't need many products to do it.
13:17So, I'm going to show you step by step how to create this.
13:20Yeah.
13:20Well, let's do it.
13:21Take us through it.
13:22So, obviously, this is, here's one I made earlier.
13:25This is done.
13:26But, literally, it's just section by section.
13:29So, start at the bottom.
13:30So, let me just turn around Zara here.
13:34So, if you take a section at the bottom.
13:36And the really important thing is, is to get the gel and the product in at the nape.
13:41And each section, as you go up, you flatten to the head, flatten to the head.
13:45Use water, gel, a little bit of hairspray and a comb.
13:49And that's it.
13:49You're away, really.
13:50These clips at the side, they're just to sort of, like, keep everything in.
13:54So, obviously, when I take this out, this sets.
13:56You can use a hair dryer as well, just to sort of set it in a little bit.
13:59That just keeps it nice and tight to the head so that you just get that really nice shape.
14:04And, obviously, if this loosens up a little bit, it doesn't matter because you kind of want that.
14:07But, you know, the initial shape is just to get that nice and tight to the head.
14:11And then, in a minute, I'm going to add a little, you know, touch, party touch that you can do
14:16at home.
14:17But you'll see that at the end.
14:18Very exciting.
14:19Okay.
14:19So, while you continue with that look, I'm going to go over here to Lisa Armstrong.
14:23So, talk us through what you're doing over here.
14:26So, basically, we've just done a wash of green over the eye.
14:29And then, we've added a darker green in the contour of the eye, see there, just in the socket line.
14:35And then, we've done some individual gems under the eye just to make the eye pop.
14:38And now, clever little trick.
14:40We have this gorgeous little diamante on a strip to make it nice and easy so it's not so fiddly.
14:47So, basically, if you just close your eyes for me, babe, you literally just go into the socket line there.
14:51And then, you just place right there in the socket line over where you've done your contour and boom.
15:00Oh, beautiful.
15:01We have a little glittery eye.
15:02See that?
15:03I'm glad you've shown me that because it's quite fiddly when you're trying to do things like that.
15:05It is quite fiddly and like with the eyelash glue and like not getting too much onto the tweezers to
15:10apply.
15:11So, a great way just to kind of like cheat it but still gets that absolutely brilliant sparkly look.
15:16So, nice little tip for you there.
15:18How did Laura react when you finished the look on her?
15:21Oh, they all love it.
15:22They all love it.
15:23I mean, it's one of their favorite places to come into the hair and makeup room.
15:27So, everyone, we've done everyone different.
15:29So, everyone has a little take on a variation of the looks from Wicked.
15:33And again, people at home can try different variations.
15:35It's not like a set look.
15:37You can literally put the gems any which way you want, like one in the corner, one on the outer
15:41corner.
15:42You even can do it on the lash line.
15:43So, it's literally really adaptable.
15:45And obviously, with Christmas coming up as well, you can like play with the colors.
15:49This is perfect.
15:50Okay.
15:50I'm going to go back to Lisa Daly and see how she's getting on.
15:54So, what are you doing here?
15:55We're on the gold leaf.
15:55So, I'm using gold leaf here.
15:57But I mean, you can use anything that you want really.
15:59Just use a little bit of gel on the hair to make it stick.
16:02A little bit of hairspray.
16:04Just get a little brush like this.
16:06And then you just kind of dab it on where you want it to be.
16:08Wow.
16:09I mean, as much or as little as you want really.
16:11But what's also really nice, if you are going to a party or going out somewhere, you can
16:15also bring it down onto the face, into the makeup a little bit.
16:18Just to, you know, make it a little bit more fancy.
16:21But it just, as you can see, it's like really, really effective.
16:24Is gold leaf expensive?
16:25No.
16:26Online, you can get it.
16:27Yes.
16:27Really quite cheaply.
16:29And you just kind of pat it in.
16:30And then once it's on, and to set it, a little bit of hairspray and that will just set that
16:34in.
16:34But like I said, you can go, you know, you can go as much as you want or as little
16:38as
16:38you want.
16:39And it's just really super effective.
16:41How easy is that to remove afterwards?
16:42Just wash it.
16:43I mean, probably the gel's probably harder to get out than this, to be fair.
16:47But yeah, you know, to be fair, I've mixed the gel with an oil-based product just to
16:52make it a little bit easier so that you've got a bit of movement still in the hair.
16:56So that's a good tip as well.
16:57Honestly, being on Strictly, the best moment, one of the best moments is being in the hair
17:02and makeup chair and seeing that transformation.
17:04Like, do you ever get over that feeling, like when you see the celebs react for the first
17:09time?
17:09No, it's really nice.
17:10And obviously, like, there's a build-up.
17:12Because when people first come, we have to kind of like, you know, build them up to
17:16the certain look.
17:17Some people are like, yeah, we want this, we want this.
17:18Other people are like, not so sure or have to like talk them around.
17:21But it is really nice to see the transformations.
17:23And the best ones for me are like the last minute ones when you have to change something
17:26and pull something out of the box really quickly and just turn it into something, you know,
17:30amazing.
17:31So, yeah, we're lucky.
17:33You are, you are.
17:33It's amazing.
17:34It's an amazing job.
17:35I'm going to go back to Lisa Armstrong.
17:37So, where are we at now with these eyes?
17:38Ooh.
17:39I've gone a bit rogue-flur.
17:41I'm adding.

17:43You're just going.
17:43I'm just going for it.
17:45So, literally, now I've just put a little corner one there.
17:48It's quite pretty.
17:49But like I said, again, very versatile.
17:51You know, there's no rules.
17:52There's no right or wrong.
17:54Literally, just have a little play and just like, yes, sparkle away.
17:57It's kind of like that though, isn't it, in the Strictly experience?
18:00Because we as celebs, we just sit in the chair.
18:02Yeah.
18:02And then we kind of just let you go to work.
18:04And like you've done here, you kind of improvise in the moment as well, right?
18:07Yeah, exactly.
18:08And everyone wants an individual look.
18:10And as well, with the choreographer, especially with that wicked number,
18:13he wanted everyone to be different.
18:14So, yeah, we just like have a little play around and use different like shades
18:18and tones of the colours.
18:19But again, like I said, you know, you can use any colour on this.
18:22So great for like Christmas parties, like the, you know, the burnt orange, the dark burgundy,
18:27the reds, the golds, the bronzes.
18:29So any colours you like, just a wash of colour over the eye, like I said in the first place.
18:33And then you just take your little thin brush and just got a darker colour
18:37and then you just blend it through here.
18:39Just following the shape of the socket line, shape of the eye,
18:42and then just bring it to the inner corner of the nose
18:44and then just naturally where the eye socket is.
18:47And then, there you go.
18:49Bit of liner.
18:49Always a lash fleur.
18:51Always a lash.
18:52Always a lash.
18:52And then we've just finished off with a nice brick lip liner
18:56and filled it in with some cloth.
18:57That's beautiful.
18:57Any tips to keep the gems on?
18:59Well, you can use a bit of eyelash glue, but little, little amount
19:03because you don't want to like it to splosh into the skin.
19:06So just a tiny little bit on the back of like your tweezers.
19:09Put it on the back of your hand, take the tweezers, tap it in.
19:12We had fun and games with that earlier, didn't we?
19:13Trying to get them precise on.
19:15But a little bit on with the lash glue and then just like pop and then press and you're done.
19:19Right.
19:20Okay, Lisa.
19:21Let's have a look at this final look and see how it matches up to Lauren's wicked look.
19:27Oh, beautiful.
19:29Look at that.
19:29We've added a few more.
19:31Yes.
19:33We've got Gem happy here.
19:34I love it though.
19:35That is gorgeous.
19:36But again, just to show you how you can use the different colour crystals.
19:39I just thought you'd be able to see more for this environment with the silver crystals.
19:44So, hence why I put like the little individual green just to show you again how you can sort
19:49of mix and match.
19:49And then we've done with the silver crystals on the top in the socket line.
19:53I love this.
19:53I'm getting all my inspo for Christmas.

19:56Okay, and over to Lisa David for the final result.
19:59Yeah.
19:59Let's see how this matches up against Amber's Argentine tango look.
20:03Ooh.
20:04Look at that.
20:06Beautiful.
20:07But as you can see on Amber, we kind of brought it down onto her face a little bit which
20:10I
20:10was explaining.
20:11Like you can bring it down into your makeup a bit if you want to or you can just leave
20:14it in the hairline and you can go down as far a little as, you know, or as much as
20:19you want to.
20:20Well, both Zara and Molly look gorgeous.

20:31Right, on Saturday night, Johannes overcame his fear of the woods as he and Alex waltzed
20:36through an autumnal forest.
20:38And we couldn't believe how beautiful it was.
20:43You know, it's not very often I sit here and think, oh, I'd love to trade places and
20:47dance with Johannes, but that feeling you gave me today.
20:49Beautiful footwork.
20:50No errors in footwork.
20:52You just sent goosebumps all over me.
20:54I think you're fantastic.
20:55You two were absolutely dancing beautifully together.

21:15A return to form on Saturday.
21:18How comfortable were you out on that dance floor, Alex?
21:21It was really important to me this weekend, this dance, because I psychologically needed
21:30to put the week before aside.
21:33And I needed to be able to get on that dance floor and enjoy a dance and come through it
21:41to just sort of, in a sense, get all the cobwebs of doubt out of my system.
21:46And so it was massively important.
21:50And yes, and we just said to each other before it started, we just said, it's just you and
21:56me on the floor.
21:57This is for us.
21:58Yes.
22:00And, yeah, it was wonderful to just have that experience and to then, and to get over
22:07the kind of the doubts.
22:09Yes.
22:09And Jojo, you look like you had a lovely time too.
22:12Although Alex looked like she hardly broke a sweat.
22:15Couldn't say the same for you.
22:19You were dripping.
22:20You came through dripping.
22:23What was going on?
22:24It's always been painful.
22:26And as you would know, before we go on stage, we normally rehearse the numbers, isn't it?
22:31But Alex is flawless like that.
22:35And there I was going...

22:42That's me every day though.
22:44I don't even know how to explain that.
22:46I think I'm going to keep an electric fan under my dress.
22:50Just whip it out.

22:53But all of the ankle work has paid off and no gapping as well.

22:58How pleased are you to receive all of that praise from the judges?
23:01I was beyond proud.
23:04And I thought, I hope this, this, it validates you and lets you know that you are on the right
23:12path because she's really been working hard.
23:16But when I tell you the woman is resilient, I mean it.
23:19You know?
23:20I've never seen anything like it.
23:23And it's Alex's discipline that I honestly admire and I'm in awe of.
23:28And that is what...
23:29I was like, it's going to be good.

25:11But we had a chance to do the big group number rehearsal.

25:18And my goodness, I came away from that day so excited.
