President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. described the Philippines new 'upper-middle-income' status as a “vote of confidence” in the country’s future. In his video message Thursday, July 2, the President said this validates the administration’s policies and will attract more investments, create better jobs, and bring tangible progress to Filipino families.

The World Bank confirmed the milestone on Wednesday, July 1, marking the end of almost four decades as a 'lower-middle-income' nation. (Video courtesy of Bongbong Marcos via FB, Betheena Unite | MB)

00:00Grandang araw sa aking mga minamahal na kababayan.
00:03For years, Filipinos have worked hard to build this country.
00:07Today, the world has taken notice.
00:10The Philippines has officially become an upper-middle-income country.
00:15After nearly four decades as a lower-middle-income country since 1987,
00:20this milestone affirms that the economic policies that we have pursued over the past four years have been effective.
00:27Our steady economic growth, broadly stable currency, and long-term reforms have strengthened our economy even amid global uncertainties.
00:37It validates the progress that we have made and the resilience of the Filipino people.
00:42It is also a vote of confidence in our country's future.
00:46Greater confidence means more investments.
00:49More investments means more businesses, better quality jobs, and more opportunities for Filipino families.
00:57This is worth celebrating because economic progress is not meant to stay on paper.
01:02It is meant to open doors, put food on the table, and give every Filipino the chance to build a
01:08better life.
01:09That is the work that we will continue to do until every family feels the benefit of our country's progress.
