00:01surprise surprise okay now welcome back um i guess we can assume that you're fit and firing
00:11and ready to go for tomorrow yeah absolutely um yeah been put through my recovery paces um
00:18and yeah i suppose worked really hard to to get myself to this position um and the sport science
00:24medicine team have too so um yeah really so really happy to be sat here can you just talk us
00:31through
00:32the recovery a little bit what it entailed whether it was touch and go or it's all gone smooth just
00:37talk us through it um yeah everything has gone to plan um as well as it could do really um
00:44we use
00:45various different methods um to get the recovery right um there's a lot about inflammation um so
00:55yeah doing doing the best we can for that and eating the right things um taking the right supplements
01:00etc um sitting in machines oxygen tanks um yeah i suppose just everything that we could do um
01:09to get to this point and if you can say you don't know if you can but um who goes
01:14out because someone's
01:15going to make way um i won't say until tomorrow um at the toss um but yeah obviously our team
01:23has
01:23been really successful um and lots of different people have stood up um so yeah someone's going to
01:31be really disappointed tomorrow um but yeah i suppose that just shows what a great position we are in as
01:37a side that um yeah so many different people have put their hands up um but yeah sadly someone has
01:43to
01:44miss out um did you use magnetic resonance therapy as part of your your uh rehab i've been reading
01:52maybe there was an there was an acronym um and if that fits then yes what did it involve um
02:02sitting
02:03for an hour and not moving with my leg in a horseshoe shape thing in is it quite a big
02:10machine or is it
02:11um transportable no and how not like an mri i'd say right and how often would you do that then
02:17uh i did seven hour sessions so you you've clearly done everything you possibly can yeah even things
02:26that you know have a small chance of um working um yeah obviously there's a bit of research out there
02:33about m b st i think that's right um but yeah we we literally threw everything at it and how
02:43hard
02:43have you tested the calf in terms of explosivity and running um we've tested it enough to to be
02:49comfortable um and yeah i suppose um what will happen out on the pitch will happen um and yeah
02:58i'm really happy with where i am at um physically i guess there's always a risk isn't there with these
03:03things but you feel there's when you weigh up the balance it's worth taking that risk given where you
03:08are in the tournament and everything else um yeah i mean the myself and the medical team are really happy
03:14with where we're at um physically i'm you know able to take part in all of the games so um
03:20yeah i
03:22suppose from that point of view i'm really happy and for you and the team how important that you get
03:27past this hurdle um much has been made about 2017 and not winning a world tournament since then this
03:34seems like a real a really big moment for the group yeah it is um i suppose our first um
03:42goal
03:42starting the tournaments to qualify for the semi-finals um and that set us up with a huge match against
03:48south africa someone who we've played in a few semi-finals recently um and yeah obviously you know
03:54the end goal is to try and get to the final and to win the whole tournament but um i
03:59suppose for now
03:59we are focusing on tomorrow and doing everything that we can to prepare ourselves the best way we can for
04:06for playing against south africa um this whole um world cup has been a huge opportunity for us and
04:13and our team and to try and inspire as many people as we can and um i think along the
04:18way we've we've
04:19done that um and we get another chance to to try again um tomorrow night here at a ground that
04:24has
04:25um been successful for us in in the past um and has great energy in the crowd so we're looking
04:32forward to
04:32it and you've lost to south africa four times in world tournaments does that leave any mental scars
04:38um i think the the the group of players that we have here are quite different to you know times
04:45before i suppose there are people that have played in all of those games um but they're they're a world
04:50class team um and have made it to lots of the finals in in previous world cups not quite obviously
04:56got
04:57over the line but um they're a team that are extremely competitive and and ones that we've had
05:02a great battle between um in the last few years and in an ideal world would you have had more
05:08tests
05:08or tougher tests leading up to this point in this tournament do you feel that you've been really
05:12pushed so um yeah i think in certain uh times in games we have been really pushed um yeah i
05:20suppose
05:21much has been made of you know which teams are in which groups and and things like that um but
05:26yeah
05:26we're we're certainly prepared for the test against south africa and um yeah we've we've shown some
05:34great composure in some key moments in games so far in the tournament so um yeah we're hoping to use
05:40that experience hey nat um just in terms of the group stage you've obviously been watching on the
05:47games that you weren't involved in what what's your analysis of kind of both the positives and any areas
05:53that kind of you need to just be a bit more clinical on um uh and kind of what you've
05:58what
05:59you've made of uh particularly that game in against island when when you went off that was that was a
06:03bit tougher wasn't it but coming through that was i suppose a a a sign that you can get through
06:09kind of when it's got a bit shaky but so what have you made of the group state um yeah
06:13i think it's
06:14been really enjoyable watching we've had some brilliant batting partnerships um we obviously had some
06:20times where um we've you know had some tricky periods and had to rebuild a little bit as a batting
06:27group um and yeah there are times where we would have wanted to be a bit more clinical in in
06:33the chase
06:33um but yeah i suppose circumstances like me walking off with an injury um doesn't always happen so um yeah
06:41i suppose can take a little bit of time to to um settle again from that um but yeah i
06:49think as a
06:50group we've played some brilliant cricket we've shown some great composure in moments like that and um
06:58you know the first game against sri lanka um i suppose when we've had such a build-up um
07:05of anticipation for before the world cup started um i mean that first game feels like about a month
07:11ago now um but yeah well i think as a group we've we've learned a lot about the different conditions
07:18that we've played in um obviously have to adapt to what is given to us again tomorrow night and being
07:24the third third game in that wicket as well um so yeah i think as a group we've sort of
07:31covered a lot
07:32of the bases that that we might be um or situations that we might be thrown um in the game
07:39tomorrow
07:39night um so yeah i suppose everyone is prepared really well for what would be a massive game
07:47now just going back to the island game was from the point that you went off then to where we
07:52are now
07:52was was this timeline ever in doubt and initially it was a two game the two game break then then
07:58the
07:58new zealand game came big soon were you when you went off then were you confident that you'd be
08:02back in this tournament um i guess walking off not really knowing what has happened um i suppose
08:09knowing something has happened but um getting the scan results and you know everything unfolding
08:16we always had this game in mind um so yeah obviously like you said the new zealand game came a
08:22little bit
08:22too soon um because time is our friend so um yeah i guess that yeah this game was the target
08:30so um
08:32yeah i suppose things went to plan and did sunday australia and india that was that game quite big
08:38for you and if there's welding would have played the semi-final yesterday would that have come too soon
08:43for you what or would you have been good to go for them um yeah i mean obviously the circumstances
08:50are
08:50that we we had the second semi-final in the end um i mean i was watching through obviously massive
08:56interest in in the world cup and and the cricket as well as what game we were playing obviously
09:02just so happens that we're sort of waiting on that result to know when we're playing um but yeah i
09:08suppose plans would have been a little bit different if it was on on tuesday um but yeah the the
09:15goal was
09:16to be ready for a semi-final uh be it tuesday or thursday and obviously you'd rather not have
09:21had the injury at all back in back in april but do you look back over the last two months
09:25as you
09:25you're a better team for having had to work it out without you both in that series against india and
09:30then then these games the group stage with i suppose the world where charlie wouldn't have
09:34skipped it again for england's pre-world cup if that hadn't happened in the first place um yeah i suppose
09:38if if that was the case we would have had to manufacture you know a game where charlie might have
09:43led
09:43um you know in the warm-up stages or um yeah something in in the other series that we had
09:49before the tournament started um yeah i suppose it's funny how it works itself out um lots of people
09:57had a great chance to have experience out in the middle um certainly with the bat um and yeah i
10:04suppose
10:05missing out is never nice but i guess seeing people grow in confidence and getting the chance to show
10:10their skills with a little bit more time at the crease has been really special um and yeah i
10:16suppose just the the enjoyment that everyone gets out of the game it's really nice to watch on the
10:20sideline it's infectious so um yeah i'm really excited to be able to join them again hi nat um after
10:29the
10:30sort of roller coaster of the last couple of years um how does it feel to go into a semi
10:35-final as as very
10:36clear favorites is that is that slightly strange um i suppose timing is everything right um the the 50
10:47over world cup i just sort of started my journey as captain and um i see a bit of change
10:52in leadership
10:53and the coach as well so it sort of feels now that everyone is sort of settled into
11:00the way we're doing things and um have really grown in confidence in their abilities um and i
11:08think that has been shown out on the pitch with different people you know choosing their moment to
11:14to shine and and to show people what they can do um so yeah i suppose it's i mean it's
11:21a different
11:22it's a different time to how we felt you know in the previous world cup or um you know since
11:29the
11:30you know the last two years um yeah i suppose as a team you go through you know different ups
11:36and
11:36downs as you go through tournaments but um yeah i suppose the the vibes are high
11:45how has been the experience of playing at home you for you and the other girls in the team as
11:50well
11:51uh it's been brilliant um i guess when when you're at home you get a chance for your family to
11:57come
11:57and watch you at most of the games and um you know see those familiar faces out in the crowd
12:02but also
12:04experience a crowd that are really behind you and want you know the team to do well so um
12:10yeah it's been it's been great playing at familiar grounds and um yeah i suppose the experience has
12:16been has been nice we know where all the good coffee spots are as well in each of the
12:20cities um so yeah well i mean so far we've had a great time at this one
12:28and that was there ever any conversation about letting charlie stay on as captain just to give
12:32you one less thing to worry about um no i guess i'm really comfortable in in that leadership role and
12:41and coming back in um i mean it hasn't been too long since i last played um and being around
12:48the team the
12:49whole time i suppose gives me a chance to you know think about my captain's role in different ways
12:55so um yeah i i will hopefully slot slot back in nicely she said she didn't want to do it
13:00either
13:01did she mean it who charlie she said she definitely didn't want to do any media more media so um
13:08i'm here
13:10um yeah no she's yeah she's um obviously done really well in the role and um she is happy to
13:19pass it
13:19but i think bad okay thank you so much thank you very much
13:23you
13:23you
