01:28I'm pretty sure most of us have heard about the movie Smile that came out last year, but did you
01:33know it originates from this short film?
01:35It's called Laura Hasn't Slept, and it's about our main character Laura who visits her therapist to try and make
01:40sense of the terrifying nightmare that plagues her dreams.
01:43Laura is talking to her therapist about the reoccurring nightmare she's been having all week about the same man.
01:48Every time she sees him, he chants her name over and over again.
01:51He also has a different face every time, but he always has the same horrible eyes.
01:56He's trying to show Laura his original face beneath all the ones he wears, but Laura's convinced that if she
02:01sees his real face, she'll die.
02:03Because of this dream, Laura hasn't slept in the past two days.
02:06I guess the doctor has heard enough because he shuts his notebook and asks Laura why she's really here.
02:12At first, Laura's confused, but then he asks if she's certain they even met.
02:15Is she sure she's not in a dream right now?
02:18The room changes, and suddenly it goes dark.
02:20The therapist has a creepy smile on his face as he chants her name.
02:24His body clicks and snaps as he stands.
02:27He pulls his face off to show Laura what's beneath, but she covers her eyes.
02:30When she finally decides to look, she's in a whole other room.
02:34And when the man jumps in front of her without warning and reveals his bloody face,
02:38Laura screams and starts ripping hers off in panic.
02:42This short film is so creepy, and I love how they kept pieces of the original concept in the film.
02:46I sort of like the idea of a nightmare man with no face better than a creepy smile,
02:50but I understand why they made the smile the focal point and how it symbolizes
02:54the psychological and mental conflict happening with the main character.
