00:0114 children were killed after the roof of a tutoring center collapsed in Pakistan's
00:06eastern city of Lahore on Tuesday.
00:09Punjab's emergency services said rescue crews recovered the bodies of the children, along
00:15with a 30-year-old female teacher, from beneath the rubble of the private after-school facility.
00:20Authorities said the victims were between 5 and 16 years old, with most of them under
00:25the age of 9.
00:26Punjab Information Minister Asma Bokhari said preliminary investigations found the tutoring
00:33center was unregistered and operating inside a privately owned residential building with
00:38a deteriorating roof.
00:40She said authorities would take strict legal action if negligence, carelessness, or violations
00:46of the law were found.
00:48The provincial government has also ordered inspections of unsafe buildings ahead of the monsoon season
00:54and plans to tighten regulations on unregistered tutoring centers and private educational
00:59facilities.
