00:05There's a pretty interesting rumor going around right now and it involves Tom Holland possibly
00:10stepping into a completely new kind of role. According to multiple reports, he's currently
00:15in talks with Sony Pictures to star in a brand new live-action Tarzan movie. If this actually
00:21happens, it would be the latest attempt to reboot the classic Jungle Story, especially after the
00:27legend of Tarzan tried to bring the character back to modern audiences. Now this isn't
00:32just some random idea out of nowhere, because Tarzan as a character has been around for a
00:37very long time. He was originally created by Edgar Rice Burroughs way back in 1912 and since
00:44then there have been a bunch of adaptations across movies, TV shows, books and basically
00:49every type of media you can think of. So in that sense, it makes total sense why a studio
00:55would want to revisit the character again, because the name alone still carries a lot
00:59of recognition. At the same time, casting Tom Holland as Tarzan is kind of unexpected, because
01:06most people still strongly associate him with Peter Parker from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
01:11He's had massive success playing Spider-Man, and that role has basically defined his career
01:16so far. But it also looks like he's trying to branch out and avoid being stuck in just
01:21one type of role, which is something a lot of actors try to do once they reach that level
01:26of fame.
01:27If you look at his recent projects, it's clear he's been experimenting more. He starred in
01:32Uncharted, where he played Nathan Drake alongside Mark Wahlberg and Antonio Banderas. That movie
01:38leaned heavily into adventure storytelling, and it had a very similar vibe to classic treasure
01:44hunting films like those inspired by Indiana Jones, originally played by Harrison Ford. So
01:49when you think about it like that, Tarzan isn't actually that far off, because both fall into
01:54that same broad category of pulped-style adventure stories.
02:05And that's where things start to connect in an interesting way.
02:08Back in the early 20th century, Tarzan stories were incredibly popular, especially in serialized
02:15formats, which is very similar to the kind of storytelling that inspired movies like Indiana
02:20Jones later on. So in a way, this potential casting feels like it's tapping into that same
02:26adventurous spirit, even though it's being reimagined for a modern audience.
02:30But even though the idea makes sense on paper, it does raise a big question. Do audiences actually
02:36want another Tarzan movie right now? While the character is iconic, there have already been so
02:42many versions over the years that it might feel a bit overdone. And that's where things get a little
02:46risky. From Sony's perspective, they're probably looking at the long history of Tarzan and thinking
02:53that it's a safe bet, because people recognize the name. That kind of built-in familiarity can
02:58definitely help bring in viewers. On the other hand, there's also the possibility that people
03:03have simply seen enough of this story already, which could make it harder for a new version to stand
03:08out. A good example of this is The Legend of Tarzan from 2016. That movie had a really strong cast,
03:16including Alexander SkarsgΓ₯rd and Margot Robbie, along with big names like Christoph Waltz and
03:21Samuel L. Jackson. It even made a decent amount of money at the box office. But even with all of
03:28that, it didn't really leave a lasting impression. It kind of came and went without becoming a major
03:33cultural moment, which is something studios always worry about. And because of that, there's a real
03:39question about whether a new Tarzan movie can actually break through and feel fresh. It's not just
03:44about casting a popular actor like Tom Holland, it's about giving audiences a reason to care about
03:49the story again. Another thing that makes this tricky is the character itself. Tarzan's story,
03:56at its core, is about a British aristocrat who grows up in the jungle and becomes this larger-than-life
04:02figure. But in today's world, that concept can feel a bit outdated or even problematic,
04:07depending on how it's handled. So if Sony is serious about this reboot,
04:17they'll need to rethink certain aspects of the story and make it more relevant and respectful
04:22for modern audiences. And then there's another comparison that people keep bringing up, which is
04:27John Carter. That movie was also based on a character created by Edgar Rice Burroughs,
04:33and it had a similar kind of premise and outsider becoming the most powerful figure
04:37in a completely different world. Even though it had a big budget and a lot of hype, it ended up
04:43being a major box office failure, which shows how risky these kinds of projects can be.
04:49So while a Tom Holland Tarzan movie has potential, it's definitely not guaranteed to succeed. It would
04:56need the right creative vision, the right tone, and a strong story to really stand out.
05:02Now, on top of all this, there are also rumors floating around that this reboot could go even
05:07bigger with its casting. Some reports suggest that actors like Henry Cavill and Scarlett Johansson
05:13might be involved in some capacity. That hasn't been confirmed, but if it turns out to be true,
05:18it would definitely make the project feel more high profile. When you think about it,
05:24adding names like that would instantly raise the stakes. Henry Cavill has experience with larger-than-life
05:29characters, and Scarlett Johansson has proven she can handle both action and emotional depth. So
05:35bringing them into a Tarzan reboot could help give the film a stronger identity and make it feel more
05:41like a major event rather than just another remake. But even with big names attached, the movie would
05:47still need to figure out what makes it unique. Because audiences today have so many options when it comes
05:53to entertainment, and they're not going to show up just because a character is familiar. There needs
05:59to be something new, something exciting, something that feels worth the time. And that's probably the
06:04biggest challenge facing this project. It's not just about rebooting Tarzan, it's about reinventing him,
06:11in a way that connects with modern viewers while still respecting the original idea.
06:21That's not an easy balance to strike, especially with a character that's been around for over a
06:26century. For Tom Holland, this could be a really interesting move in his career. It gives him a
06:33chance to step outside of the superhero genre and prove that he can carry a completely different kind of
06:39franchise. But at the same time, it's also a bit of a gamble, because if the movie doesn't land,
06:45it could end up being one of those projects that people quickly forget.
06:49So right now, everything is still in the early stages, and nothing has been officially confirmed.
06:55But the idea of a new Tarzan movie with Tom Holland, possibly alongside actors like Henry Cavill and
07:02Scarlett Johansson, is definitely something that's getting people talking. Whether it turns into something
07:08big or fades away like some previous attempts really depends on how the studio approaches it.
07:19In the end, this feels like one of those projects that could go either way. It has the potential to
07:25be a fresh and exciting take on a classic story, but it also carries the risk of feeling outdated or
07:31unnecessary. And because of that, all eyes are going to be on how Sony handles this reboot,
07:37because if they get it right, it could be a major success. But if they don't, it might just become
07:43another forgotten chapter in Tarzan's long history. And that's that for today's video.
