00:00Bruce!
00:01Lucky for Banner, I showed up, because he'd be a smoldering pile of ashes by now.
00:06The way most people see the Hulk today is honestly very different from how the character
00:11actually exists in Marvel Comics.
00:13A bunch of MCU fans mainly know Hulk as this giant green rage monster who smashes everything,
00:19barely talks, and acts almost childlike whenever Bruce Banner loses control.
00:24That version became extremely popular because the movie simplified the character into something
00:29easy for casual audiences to understand.
00:33But the comics have always been way more complicated than that because Bruce Banner's mind is filled
00:38with multiple personalities and different Hulk identities, not just the calm scientist and
00:43the angry green monster.
00:45One of the most interesting personalities hiding inside Bruce Banner is the Grey Hulk, also known
00:51as Joe Fixit.
00:52Comic fans have loved this version of Hulk for years because he feels completely different
00:57from the classic savage Hulk people usually picture.
01:00Joe Fixit is smarter, more manipulative, morally questionable, and honestly much more dangerous
01:06in certain ways.
01:08He still has Hulk's strength, although not quite at the same insane level as the green
01:12version, but what makes him terrifying is that he actually thinks strategically.
01:17He's not just smashing buildings because he's angry.
01:20He plans things out, makes deals, manipulates people, and operates almost like a crime boss.
01:25That's exactly why so many fans feel the MCU desperately needs to introduce him sooner rather than later.
01:33Although Marvel has spent years developing Hulk on screen, the movies still haven't really
01:38explored the psychological complexity that makes Bruce Banner such a fascinating character
01:43in the comics.
01:44Instead, the MCU rushed through a bunch of Hulk storylines without giving them enough emotional
01:50depth.
01:50The Grey Hulk technically first appeared all the way back in 1962 in The Incredible Hulk
01:57Number 1, created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.
02:01What surprises many fans is that Hulk wasn't originally green at all.
02:05He was grey.
02:07But Marvel had trouble consistently printing the exact shade of grey back then, so by the
02:12second issue, they switched him to green because it was easier to reproduce in comics.
02:16Even though the colour change happened because of printing issues, the Grey Hulk eventually
02:22became its own separate personality years later thanks to writer Peter David.
02:26David completely reinvented Bruce Banner's psychology and confirmed that Banner suffered from disassociative
02:33identity disorder.
02:34Instead of Hulk simply being a transformation caused by gamma radiation, the comics established
02:40that Bruce had multiple personalities living inside his fractured mind.
02:44That decision honestly changed Hulk forever because it turned him from a straightforward monster
02:49character into one of Marvel's most psychologically layered heroes.
02:53The savage Hulk represented Bruce's childhood rage and innocence while Joe Fixit represented
02:59Bruce's darker impulses.
03:01Joe wasn't innocent at all.
03:04He enjoyed gambling, power, manipulation, and violence.
03:07He did whatever benefited him personally because unlike the classic Hulk, Joe didn't really
03:13care about being heroic.
03:14In the comics, Joe Fixit famously worked for the Las Vegas mob as a casino enforcer and nightclub
03:21bouncer.
03:22Just imagine Hulk walking around in expensive suits, working security for criminals, intimidating
03:28people with both brains and muscle.
03:30That concept alone already feels different from almost every Hulk story the MCU has told so
03:35far.
03:36And honestly, that's why the character could work so perfectly in the current MCU landscape.
03:42Marvel has already spent years showing the softer side of Hulk.
03:46By the time Avengers Endgame arrived, Bruce Banner had fully merged into Smart Hulk, which
03:52basically turned him into a calmer version of himself living inside Hulk's body.
03:57Some fans enjoyed Smart Hulk because it showed character growth, but a bunch of others felt disappointed
04:02because the savage and emotional side of Hulk almost disappeared completely.
04:08The biggest issue with Smart Hulk in the MCU is that he never really felt like a separate
04:13personality.
04:14In the comics, Professor Hulk is supposed to be its own identity with Bruce's intelligence
04:19mixed together with Hulk's power and confidence.
04:22But the MCU version mostly just feels like regular Bruce Banner in a larger body.
04:27The psychological conflict got simplified too much.
04:31That's why introducing Grey Hulk could finally fix that problem.
04:35Joe Fix It would allow Marvel to show audiences that Bruce Banner's mind is genuinely fractured
04:41and filled with different personas that each represent different emotional aspects of his trauma.
04:46Instead of another generic CGI monster fight, Marvel could finally tell a darker and more
04:52character-driven Hulk story.
04:53There are already rumors that Hulk could appear in Spider-Man Brand New Day, and that movie
04:59would be the perfect place to introduce Joe Fix It.
05:03The traditional childlike Hulk simply doesn't work as a true villain anymore.
05:08Audiences love him too much.
05:09Even when Hulk loses control, fans still see him as misunderstood rather than evil.
05:15But Grey Hulk is completely different.
05:18Joe Fix It absolutely could function as a dangerous antagonist in a Spider-Man movie because
05:23he's smart enough to challenge Peter Parker mentally, not just physically.
05:28Peter can usually outthink brute force villains eventually, but Joe Fix It is clever, manipulative,
05:33and street-smart.
05:34He understands criminal operations, intimidation, and power structures, so instead of simply smashing
05:41Manhattan apart, he could slowly take over New York's criminal underground.
05:46That setup would honestly fit perfectly into the grounded street-level direction Spider-Man
05:51seems to be heading toward right now.
05:53Especially because characters like Punisher are reportedly connected to the movie too.
05:58Frank Castle going after a crime-running Grey Hulk sounds like exactly the kind of brutal
06:03storyline Marvel could build an entire movie around.
06:06Imagine Spider-Man trying to stop a criminal empire led by a Hulk personality who actually
06:11knows how to manipulate people and operate strategically.
06:14That feels way more interesting than another giant sky beam or multiverse disaster.
06:21Joe Fix It could bring back the gritty crime-thriller energy fans loved in shows like Daredevil while
06:26still keeping Hulk involved in the story.
06:29Marvel has all the pieces already sitting there waiting to be used.
06:33The MCU just needs to finally commit to exploring Hulk properly again because the character has
06:38been strangely underused for years.
06:40A bunch of Hulk's biggest comic storylines either happened off-screen or got rushed through
06:46too quickly.
06:47For example, Hulk becoming a gladiator champion on Sakaar should have been an entire movie by
06:53itself.
06:54Instead, the MCU squeezed most of that storyline into Thor Ragnarok.
06:59Bruce becoming Smart Hulk also happened entirely off-screen between movies, even though that transformation
07:05should have been a massive emotional moment for the character.
07:08That's why fans worry Marvel might waste Grey Hulk too if they only treat him like a quick
07:14easter egg or temporary costume change.
07:17The character deserves an actual storyline with emotional depth because Joe Fix It isn't
07:22just another visual variation of Hulk.
07:24He represents Bruce Banner's darker side finally gaining control.
07:29And that wraps up today's video.
