00:06:57This is the fifth time this very championship has been defended at this historic event.
00:07:05And Miles Bourne has been proving doubters wrong his entire life.
00:07:10Can he continue to ride the wave of momentum, or will Tavion Heights finally reach that championship success he has
00:07:21been fighting for day in and day out since his arrival to the Performance Center?

00:08:20I want to go back to Tavion Heights for a moment, who has not taken his eyes off of Miles
00:08:24Bourne.
00:08:24This is Heights' first premium live event since No Mercy of last year.
00:08:28It just goes to show you, Wade, how truly hard it is to break through something you can certainly speak
00:08:35about.
00:08:36Yeah, so the climb, especially at this level in NXT, is never linear.
00:08:40You think, oh great, I've had my first PLE match.
00:08:43Maybe I've got a couple of wins here and there.
00:08:45It doesn't mean you're going to be guaranteed to be on every single PLE.
00:08:48You've got to pick your moments, and when you get them, you have to convert them.
00:08:52And this is not going to be easy for either man tonight.
00:08:55Spirit of competition certainly at a high point between these two.
00:08:58Third time, these two have gone one-on-one.
00:09:00For the record, Miles Bourne has won both of those.
00:09:03How does that weigh on each competitor?
00:09:06Well, nobody is owed a win in this game, but for somebody like Tavion Heights, you lose.
00:09:12You go 0-3 against the competitor, you simply have to face facts that at this stage in your career,
00:09:18and for both men, it's still the early stages of their career, he is just the better man.
00:09:22Really imperative that Heights gets the win tonight.
00:09:25I don't know if Miles is going to succeed trying to out-wrestle Heights.
00:09:30Calls himself the Olympic kid, representing Team USA at the 2020 Summer Olympics,
00:09:35a gold medalist at the Pan-American Championships in the same year.
00:09:39And certainly this is going to be right up Heights' alley, a peak performer growing week in and week out,
00:09:45a five-tool player, if you will.
00:09:47And Miles Bourne trying to switch things up here for a moment, and Heights just holding on.
00:09:51Well, Heights has it all.
00:09:52What he hasn't had yet is that big career win that puts him on the map.
00:09:57He is one breakout win away from being a top-tier NXT star, and this is the win.
00:10:04If he can get this done, if he can grab gold from someone as accomplished as Miles Bourne,
00:10:10then yeah, put Tavion Heights on the map for good.
00:10:14Two biggest crossover athletes still to come for the NXT Women's Championship.

00:10:19There's now both men getting a little bit gritty, getting a little bit nasty in the center of the ring.
00:10:27Well, there's that brotherhood, that respect that has turned antagonistic.
00:10:32Nice job by Miles Bourne, great core strength, trying to get a backslide, quickly blocked, though, by Heights.
00:10:37Man, I'm a massive fan of Miles Bourne.
00:10:38I have been from the day I met him.
00:10:40Oh, oh, oh, oh, backslide this time.
00:10:42Rolling right through his Heights, right back to his feet.

00:10:45When it comes to Miles Bourne, you might.

00:10:54you simply won't meet anybody who can outwork Miles Bourne.
00:10:58Let's take another look at this, though, because, I mean,
00:11:00a little head-to-head, completely unintentional from both men, and both men are now rocked.
00:11:05That little double noggin knocker, so to speak, and a dropkick taking Heights all the way to the outside,
00:11:10right here in front of us, and the action's starting to spill out, and look,
00:11:13sometimes brothers fight the most.
00:11:15Yeah, Bourne's got culpins here, too, right up.

00:11:41Well, it doesn't surprise me, because there is respect, there is love for one another, however,
00:11:46they are two alpha dogs chasing the same bone, and it'd be interesting to see if that respect
00:11:52is maintained as we start to get towards the deeper waters of this one.

00:12:00Pace starting to quicken the smack talk, picking up, and look at that takedown, and quickly,
00:12:05though, right back to the mat, floating right over into a cover, and again, I don't know if
00:12:08the strategy of Miles Bourne to want to try to outwrestle an Olympian is the strategy.
00:12:14Well, I think it's an ego thing, and obviously they've trained a ton together, and you have to think
00:12:18that Miles Bourne knows exactly what Tavion Heights has got in his locker when it comes to
00:12:24wrestling, and feels today that he can put a statement wink down by outwrestling this genius
00:12:29level wrestler that is Tavion Heights.
00:12:31Oh, Miles was looking for that snap power slam.
00:12:36Tavion, of course, knew what was coming as Bourne saw that kick coming in.
00:12:40Oh, that was unique from the outside to the inside for Miles Bourne.
00:12:46Fool me once, shame on you.
00:12:47You're not going to fool me twice.
00:12:48He was able to connect the second time, and a big suplex fisherman style still doesn't get
00:12:54the three as that left shoulder off the mat, but I believe Miles has now caught Tavion two times
00:13:00by surprise.
00:13:01Well, a couple of brothers who know each other inside and out, who've trained together for
00:13:05years, who know their strengths and weaknesses.
00:13:08The question is, who has the ability to change it up more and catch their brother by surprise,
00:13:14and right now you've got to say it's the champ Bourne.
00:13:17Well, it's hard to argue because Miles is certainly in control right now of the situation,
00:13:22controlling the body of Tavion at this junction.
00:13:26Great job by our official.
00:13:28What a night it has been here at the Great American Bash.
00:13:31First premium live event since Stan and Deliver, and Miles Bourne had a big moment at Stan
00:13:37and Deliver in St. Louis when he was able to retain his North American Championship.
00:13:42And for Miles Bourne, he was starting to show heights the path, so to speak.
00:13:46That goes back to when they were in the no-quarter catch crew.
00:13:48Yeah, and clearly Miles Bourne felt like he was stagnating in that group, which is why he
00:13:54stepped away and proved positive that it was the right decision is the goal that he now carries.
00:13:59And I think that has lit a little fire inside of Tavion heights.
00:14:03And I hate to say it, but the word really is jealousy or envy, I suppose.
00:14:08That heights wants what his brother has got and starts to resent, in a way,
00:14:13Miles Bourne, because he doesn't have that too.
00:14:15Well, also, I go back to Miles giving heights the blueprint, so to speak,
00:14:20was the first one to break away from the no-quarter catch crew.
00:14:23We saw Ren Sinclair earlier pop Charlie Dempsey in the jaw.
00:14:26I'm sure these two would love to do the same thing.
00:14:27It's from behind, shoulders down.
00:14:29And a kick out from the challenger champion getting right back up to a front face line.
00:14:33And again, being overpowered for the moment.
00:14:35Now literally overpowered all the way to that top rope, sitting on the turnbuckle.
00:14:39As heights now, trying to pull out all the stops.
00:14:41I mean, you might need to pull out a cheap shot at some point.

00:17:16He's starting to get a little frustration at this point,
00:17:18because things are simply not going as smoothly as he would like.
00:17:21He's got the upper hand, but simply Bourne is too tough to stay down.

00:17:36You know, you used the word just moments ago here to talk about heights.

00:17:43Do you get a sense there's a lot of frustration that has been built up in the
00:17:47challenger here tonight, who has continued to lock in submission after submission on the champion?
00:17:52Yeah, you don't want to come across as the bitter guy, the resentment.
00:17:56Look, there's still love between these two.
00:17:58But really, if the bitterness is coming from anywhere, it's the man who has been left behind.
00:18:02The man who doesn't have the spotlight.
00:18:04The man who doesn't have the gold.
00:18:05And that's Tavion Hikes.
00:18:07You can turn it all around tonight in a tap out or a three second pitch.
00:18:12You're starting to wonder if anything's wrong with Myles Bourne.
00:18:14You see Bourne's the color of Bourne right now.
00:18:17He's been in so many different submissions.
00:18:19It looks like he's certainly straining right now in this matchup.
00:18:23You got to wonder if maybe the air has been taken out of him,
00:18:26going back to that nasty spill just a few moments ago.
00:18:30Well, not even that.
00:18:31Earlier on in the match, it was a double head collision between the two of them.
00:18:34I guarantee you they both have cobwebs from that.
00:18:37And sometimes it's difficult to shake that off.
00:18:39And you know if anyone can, it's Myles Bourne.

00:18:43And a kick out.
00:18:45Bourne helped Hikes become the number one contender, by the way.
00:18:47Only for Hikes to turn around and just shout at him several weeks ago.
00:18:51Yeah, look how rugged Myles Bourne is.
00:18:54His nose.
00:18:55Oh, that was a nasty shot right to the throat by Hikes.
00:18:58And the gloves truly are off now.
00:19:00And did you notice Myles' body just almost giving out on him?
00:19:02Could have been a knockout blow.
00:19:03And Tavion following right up.
00:19:07And you've got to go low sometimes.
00:19:09You have to fight dirty.
00:19:11And Myles Bourne was not expecting this from Hikes.
00:19:14And it goes back to what we were talking about.
00:19:15Change it up.
00:19:16Throw something at your brother, at your former partner.
00:19:20This guy you've respected for so long and trained with that he's not anticipated.
00:19:24Cover for the championship and a kick out.
00:19:27Myles Bourne right now is hurting.
00:19:29The champion is wounded.
00:19:31He is an inspiration to many all over the world.
00:19:34He will never break.
00:19:36But his limits are being tested right now by Hikes.
00:19:40The same man in Hikes who knows him so well.
00:19:42Who has been just trying desperately to put gold around his waist tonight.

00:19:48Yeah, seriously debilitated now is Myles Bourne.
00:19:51It's not often you can say that in a match of his.

00:20:52You saw Hikes in his early days inside the Performance Center here in Orlando.

00:20:58He's only missing one thing.
00:21:00Because he has literally all the athletic tools and discipline any man could ever want.

00:21:08The only thing Hikes is missing is that career credibility that gold will bring you.
00:21:14That a moment like this defeating a competitor like a Miles Bourne will give you.
00:21:20That spotlight will stay on you for good.

00:21:25But there's only one way to get it and tonight it's the hard way.
00:21:29Floating right over into another cover is the champion to retain.
00:21:32And couldn't get it done.
00:21:34And you truly believe if if Hikes wins this match there will be a.
00:21:37Almost like a weight that will come off his shoulders.
00:21:40Oh no doubt about that.
00:21:41Look this guy is he has all the tools.
00:21:44He has everything you could ever wish for.
00:21:46But now he's in his own head about am I really as good as Miles Bourne.
00:21:51The guy who I was on par with for many years.
00:21:54Well yeah you certainly are if you put him away now.

00:22:18So I certainly wouldn't begrudge the frustrations of Tavion Hikes right now.
00:22:23And this is something that shows you the growth of heights.

00:22:28He goes immediately to that same shoulder after the kick out.
00:22:33Continue to apply the pressure.
00:22:34Nice counter though and a counter for a counter.
00:22:36The knee though was blocked right into a hip toss.
00:22:38Which was countered into an arm drag.
00:22:40And another submission locked in.
00:22:42Bourne trying to hold on.
00:22:43And remember the damage that's been done to that shoulder.

00:26:34And a nice show of sportsmanship between these two.
00:26:40Tavion will take his career to new heights.
00:26:44Tonight wasn't the night, however.
00:26:46And I can feel you.
00:26:48Your heart goes out to the challenger.
00:26:50But a lot of respect goes to the man who is still champion.
00:26:59Myles Bourne, congratulations on retaining your NXT North American Championship.
