00:02um beth obviously there's been a few semifinals over the past couple years that haven't gone to
00:08plan how nice was it to have a a really comprehensive bowling performance and getting
00:12the job done fairly comfortably with the bat as well yeah it's a much better way to be sitting in
00:17a press conference after a semifinal that's for sure but um yeah it's been well documented we
00:23haven't quite got over the line in those big games in the past so um even chasing 125 it's
00:28it's never over till it's over so you want to make real sure of it and um thankfully we're able
00:33to do that both with the ball and the bat was the last couple of years spoken about specifically
00:38before this game at all or were you was the team confident that the work that you'd sort of done
00:43in the past 12 months would put you in good stead for this game not specifically before this game
00:48but certainly spoken about um you know in the lead up to this tournament and how we can manage
00:53ourselves better in in big games and in pressure moments so um you know individually and collectively
00:58we've done a lot of work on on how to manage that and and how best to present ourselves and
01:03and show
01:03our skills um when it matters and fortunately fortunately today pretty much everyone nailed
01:09their role and um yeah we came away with what we came here to do and that was to to
01:13be at the final
01:14lords on sunday and just for yourself personally we've seen um at the top of the order your batting
01:19strike rate almost go up a fair chunk over the last sort of 18 months or so how much of
01:24a concerted
01:24effort has that been to really target the power play as a team and and what work have you done
01:29on yourself to try and help that tempo be lifted yeah we've discussed that that's a pretty um
01:36important phase of the game to try and attack and and obviously with george aval at the top of the
01:40order it makes it pretty easy to do that but um i guess from a personal point of view um
01:46i've i've
01:46certainly got the control and the skills to be able to take the game on a little bit earlier um
01:52um and played a lot of cricket and have a lot of data behind me to back up um the
01:57fact that i i can
01:57make good decisions and know what i'm doing every now and then it's not going to come off all the
02:01time
02:02but i think that's the way forward in t20 cricket is to to really attack the power play if you
02:07can and
02:07um adjust where you need to along the way but um certainly batting with elisa healy for a long time
02:13and now batting with george aval it does make it easier to to get ahead of the rate um whether
02:19you're
02:19chasing a lower total or a big one
02:27yeah but uh how important was ashley gartner's belt today as a bowler
02:33for australia the way she's born back to form with the ball and then you had a great partnership
02:38with her as well if you could tell her on both those things yeah she's been a um critical player
02:44for us for a long period of time ash and um you know she obviously batted beautifully against india
02:50at lords the other day so um i think as she spoke about in the post match she she gets
02:55a lot of
02:55confidence from that and i think we saw that today with the ball she um bowled beautifully and took
03:00wickets at critical times so um we know the threat that she poses to other teams and we're very lucky
03:06to
03:06have her at our disposal in our team and um certainly going into the pointy end of the competition we
03:11you know it's always good to have all your players in good form and debate hey bet um can i
03:23just get
03:23your thoughts on elise perry obviously uh she went off um retired hurt can you tell us anything about
03:31how she is and what was going through your mind at the time when she went off yeah she's she's
03:37fine i
03:37think it was just a little bit of minor quarter awareness um obviously there's a lot on the line
03:41now for us um and perhaps at that point in the game there wasn't too much um in the way
03:46i think
03:46we needed less than five and over um so it was very precautionary and you know my own mindset didn't
03:52change i was trying to smack some boundaries and still tried and didn't do that so successfully after
03:57she got out but ash came in and did that for me so um yeah no concerns there with pez
04:01i think it was
04:02the right call to get her off and make sure she's right for sunday thanks uh beth you won't have
04:15heard but hayley just came in and did quite like a emotional press conference about the state of the
04:21game and the difficulties that a team like west indies faces when they come up against you you've
04:26obviously seen them at their very best go back to 2016 um how important is it and what can be
04:32done
04:32to promote the world game so everyone can kind of hit those levels yeah it's a tough one i think
04:39um
04:40you know as we saw today they've got some world-class players i think you know hayley stays out there
04:45for
04:45five or ten more overs and it's a different story we're probably chasing 150 or 160 um you know i
04:51certainly think that part of our job as you know athletes is to be ambassadors for the game um not
04:57just in australia but around the world and and for us that's about making sure we show up for
05:01bilateral series um across the globe no matter who it's against and that's one of the beauties of
05:07playing the the icc odi championship is making sure that we we play every team and and give them
05:12the opportunity to come up against the top nations and also maybe the less resource nations as well
05:17um you know i think that's been a real bonus for for teams like you know ireland and the west
05:23indies
05:24and they they can play quality cricket throughout the year um i'm not across their financials and
05:30their spreadsheets but um i'm sure there's you know the challenges of having a lot of different
05:36countries into to one team makes it very difficult to get the team together a lot to train but yeah
05:41i
05:42can't comment too much on what that looks like but i do know how lucky we are to to play
05:46for australia
05:47and we certainly don't take that for granted beth has it been as easy to get to the final as
05:53you've
05:53made it look it's never easy in the c20 world cup um you know not too dissimilar to that comment
06:00you don't take these tournaments for granted i think um t20 world cups are bloody hard to win
06:05there you know you have to have things go your way and have a bit of luck along the way
06:09and you
06:09just have to be ready when it comes so um you know it hasn't all been smooth sailing i think
06:15uh you know india really pushed us in that game at lords the west indies could have gone either way
06:20today certainly we certainly didn't take them lightly either so um just feeling really proud
06:25of the group and and grateful that we're in another world cup final thanks
06:33i think georgia warham's got the highest batting strike rate in the whole tournament and the second
06:37lowest bowling economy rate how important has she been as an all-rounder in her development in that
06:42space and how important has she been with the ball this tournament yeah wolf's been unreal i think
06:47um not too many cricketers float around the the world stage having the skill set that she does and
06:54the the nous of the game and the i guess calmness so um it's probably been a little bit of
07:01time in
07:01the making for wolf i think she's been given different roles along the way but um really come
07:06into her own in that number six role with the bat especially and and also um just nailing it with
07:11the
07:11ball so um she's the all-round package wolf bat ball field um great temperament great human so
07:17um another player that is probably the envy of world cricket and she's in our team so now i'm very
07:23lucky that i get to have the best seat in the house both um behind the stumps when i'm keeping
07:27and obviously seeing her do her thing with the bat so um hopefully she's got one more very good
07:33game in her and um can help us get on the right side of the result on sunday just a
07:39very simple
07:39one any preference about who you'd like to face in the final no preference i think um world cup
07:46finals are the games that you play for and it just matters who shows up on the day so hopefully
07:50we can
07:51have a couple of days off now and um you know move back across to to lords and really enjoy
07:57the
07:58atmosphere and the occasion i think the team that does that and um embraces that will will come away
08:02with the win um this has been your first tournament opening and wicket keeping full time how have you
08:11found that workload particularly when you've had the back niggle and then the dislocated fingers
08:15the other night oh yeah i didn't enjoy the dislocated fingers um but thankfully haven't had too many
08:20more knocks on them but um yeah it's been good it's been nice to have some consistency with it
08:26um i feel like the bowlers have a lot of confidence in me to come up to the stumps or
08:30sit back if i
08:31need to so um happy to have been able to contribute um behind the stumps and and really you know
08:37drive
08:38the energy in the field as well so it hasn't really done too much to my workload other than um
08:43you know
08:44probably be out be out on the field a bit longer um it's probably the bus rides that haven't helped
08:48my
08:49back too much so we'll make sure we get a private jet or something next time hey
08:55thanks everyone
