00:01Mandeluyong City's Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit confirms a local case of MPOX, a contagious disease caused by the monkeypox virus.
00:08While it has not revealed more information about the case, the Mandeluyong CESU says it has taken initial measures to
00:15contain the spread.
00:16MPOX is a viral infection in the form of a rash that can spread between people, mainly through close contact.
00:22It can also be transmitted from infected animals to people.
00:24MPOX usually causes mild illness, including fever, headache, muscle aches, low energy, and swollen glands, and may dissipate within two
00:32to four weeks.
00:33But it can be severe and fatal if it is transmitted to children, pregnant women, and people with weak immune
00:38systems.
00:39Meantime, DOH Undersecretary and Spokesperson Albert Domingo assures the public there is no outbreak or uptick in MPOX cases nationwide.
