When "Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man" premiered on Netflix’s schedule, it marked the end of Tommy Shelby’s story. In a tragic, yet fulfilling way, we got to see the iconic gangster’s final stand, and CinemaBlend asked Cillian Murphy about watching his character’s last moments. In response, he told us what it felt like to see Tommy die “about 500 times.”

00:00I was so moved by the ending of this movie and the carriage burial.
00:04I was curious what it was like to film that moment
00:07and how it felt for you to say goodbye to Tommy in that way.
00:10It's an interesting exercise because I produced the film as well.
00:14Like, I must have watched it about 500 times,
00:16so it kind of takes the curse off it a little bit.
00:21Or, you know, it wasn't like when you see a film that you're an actor for hire
00:25and you turn up and you watch it the first time, it has a big impact on you.
00:28But when you're looking at it over and over again,
00:31I don't know, you look at it in a very clinical kind of a way.
00:34But I was seeing it through these guys, you know,
00:37their performances around Dorado and everything,
00:40and that was very, very moving because they're all fucking incredible actors.
00:46But you kind of see it reflected through their eyes, I suppose.
00:50And that voiceover that Steve wrote, which was really beautiful.
00:56But I hadn't really thought about it.
01:00Like, it was that, their performances, the visuals, and then that Lancôme song,
01:06which is just a heartbreaker in Ray D. Pete's voice.
01:09Absolutely.
01:10So everything, all the elements were there,
01:12but I was just trying to, like, look at it very much from a storytelling point of view.
01:16Let me see if you're on me.
01:19You're welcome.
