NWS: Severe Heat Threat Expands Eastward — 30 States Under Alert

The National Weather Service released a critical advisory on Sunday indicating that dangerously high temperatures, potentially reaching record levels, will spread throughout the eastern two-thirds of the U.S. this week. Due to elevated humidity, heat indices are expected to soar between 100 and 110 degrees, leading officials to classify this as a 'Major to Extreme' HeatRisk, which poses a serious threat to public health. States such as Ohio, North Carolina, and Washington DC have been highlighted as particularly hazardous for vulnerable populations, including the elderly and those with respiratory issues. Missouri's State Emergency Management Agency is advising residents to minimize outdoor activities and respond promptly to any signs of heat-related illness.
