00:00Three men, including Kanga UMNO Chief Fatul Bari Mat Jaya, have failed to stop a court order requiring them to
00:07repay nearly RM492,500 to Amra Pilgrims.
00:13The High Court rejected their bid to delay the repayment while they appealed against an earlier ruling.
00:19The court ruled their appeal did not amount to special circumstances that justified putting the payment on hold.
00:26The trio were previously found to have committed fraud after failing to return money that should have been refunded when
00:32COVID-19 forced the cancellation of the pilgrims' trips.
00:36KRS Travel Sendirian Berhad had paid RELA Travel Services RM492,480 to buy Malaysia Airlines tickets for the Amra journey.
00:47When the trips were cancelled during the pandemic, Malaysia Airlines refunded RELA as part of a settlement worth about RM1
00:54.3 million.
00:55KRS argued its RM492,480 share should have been returned to the affected pilgrims, but the money was never refunded.
01:05The High Court latest ruling means the repayment order remains in force while the trio's appeal continues.
