Iranians are optimistic they could still qualify for the FIFA World Cup knockout stage despite a 1-1 draw against Egypt on June 26, a match which ended in dramatic fashion with an apparent last-ditch winner ruled out for offside.

Iran finished third in Group G and is currently ranked sixth in the qualification for the best eight third-placed teams into the round of 32.
