00:00You're trying to strike this tone between being infatuated but also not, you know, being like us being a stalker
00:13essentially and so
00:18Wes falls for Jill through her voicemails before he really knows her in person right
00:23In the dating culture that we have right now where so much of our first impression of someone comes from
00:30curated photos on social media and like our online personalities
00:34What do you both think is this is special about Wes falling for Jill just through voicemails just through hearing
00:42her voice?
00:42I think, you know, one of the things that is that that is
00:45So attractive to Wes is that this is an unfiltered look at at someone's
00:50Um interior life. Yeah seeing her most secrets. Yeah, this is this is someone being completely honest and I think
00:58Honesty is something that's kind of lacking in his life
01:01Um, and so it's really attractive to find someone that is just letting it all sort of hang out. I
01:08think it's what he wishes he could do
01:11um and
01:13Uh, so I think it's it's a nice sort of um
01:16Um, it's a change for him. I think he's used to having the kind of shallow curated online relationships that
01:23are surface level
01:25And this is the opposite where he's getting to a real glimpse into
01:28um
01:30someone's personality and humor and
01:33Um, just inner thought process that, uh, is
01:36Intoxicating coming off from that. Um, I think this is for you, Zoe
01:40What's something about?
01:42Modern dating that you think voicemails for Isabel gets right and that audiences will quickly relate to how hard it
01:49is
01:51A lot of my friends are single and hearing their horror stories and how um
01:57Hard it is to date right now, you know, it's interesting because you would think
02:01with all the access and all these different opportunities to
02:05Kind of expand your network with our phones. You would think it would maybe get
02:09There would be more options and it would be easier, but that has not been the case and so
02:14I think it does get it right how
02:16Also, how comical some bad dates are
02:20The film explores grief, love, sisterhood
02:24Um and second chances in a very very grounded and realistic way
02:29Um for you, what was the most challenging part of bringing both of your characters?
02:34Like emotional journey to life. I think going back to the beginning is with wes
02:38It's like he is falling for this person from afar and so you're
02:43Trying to strike this tone between being infatuated but also not being
02:49A stalker essentially and so, you know, it's like trying to strike that balance
02:54You're like finding the humor finding the comedy for wes. It's like his journey from
02:59This uh person that you know runs away from intimacy and is um
03:05Kind of really trapped by uh his own um inability to open up and over the course of the the
03:11the movie
03:12jill is able to kind of show him a way to do that to um
03:17To open up and like express some of his interior life, so
03:21Uh, it was a fun arc to play and I think it was uh, you know, I for for this
03:28it was it's just easy
03:29I just kind of followed zoe's lead
03:30I just was constantly trying to toe the line of like
03:35I probably pushed always for it to be for her to be more sad
03:40Um and leah was wonderful in helping me navigate and kind of modulate those moments
03:45I don't think a human being can feel one emotion for more than 30 seconds. It's like a you switch
03:49You just don't feel one emotion for an entire movie
03:53But I probably leaned into the sadness more than I needed to and so that was a little bit challenging
03:58because I just wanted it there to always be this undercurrent of
04:01Kind of depression for her while also
04:05Uh leaning into like the humor and that was the the part that I was trying to balance
04:15You
