00:00:00Watch The Vampire Lestat after dark on AMC Plus or wherever you get your podcasts.
00:00:10Previously on The Vampire Lestat.
00:00:14Ask for a child.
00:00:15The light's going out of your blue eye.
00:00:18His name was Magnus.
00:00:20He kept me for a week locked in a room full of corpses.
00:00:23It's my era now.
00:00:25Is it true you were a stutterer as a child?
00:00:27You ask this question every night.
00:00:29I won two pollicers.
00:00:31I'm taking this thing to camp.
00:00:33How did I get you?
00:00:34Sophia.
00:00:35Hello, Sophia.
00:00:37My maker called for his mama and I came.
00:00:40My first paramour, Nicolas Delafonte, a violinist.
00:00:43Il est sain et sauf.
00:00:44Il a saunier.
00:00:45Tu as la feuille de toi, Nicolas, l'un des noms.
00:00:48Trop fragile.
00:00:49There were four pages torn out.
00:00:51It was better when he broke my bones.
00:00:52It was when he had me pinned and he told me he loved me.
00:00:55That fucked me up.
00:00:56We would like you to take care of our problem in Detroit.
00:01:00I believe your Claudia spent a few nights with him once.
00:01:07You were listening to The Failures, album 22, side A.
00:01:12The vainglorious homogeny of the Toronto skyline is something to behold.
00:01:18An onslaught of impractical condominiums dominated by a 147-floor waterpick.
00:01:25Its banality is lost on the polite citizenry of Canada.
00:01:28To them, it's iconic.
00:01:29And what the friends and family of Avery Olsen and Natalie Bokel-Hyde confirmed as a must-see
00:01:35when the two planned their honeymoon and waited for Avery's divorce to finalize.
00:01:38Had they stayed within the realities of their budget and consummated their union in their
00:01:43home province, the marriage might have lasted longer.
00:01:47But love born from a speed dating event in Moosjo, Sakasachuan merited an unhurried commemoration.
00:01:54Can I offer my assistance?
00:01:56Oh, mercy.
00:01:57Aren't you the angel?
00:02:00It's kind of me, sir.
00:02:02My pleasure.
00:02:03I know these moments last a lifetime.
00:02:05Just make sure we're not in the center center and that the tower isn't coming out of his head.
00:02:09The rule of thirds, the golden mean.
00:02:12And thus, amenities from the Radisson Blue honeymoon package went unused.
00:02:17Exchanged as they were for a vampiric appointment in Samara.
00:02:23Gabriela's divine intervention had raised my raptorial spirits, and I channeled our kills into prurient
00:02:31performances, licking the underside of Lake Erie in Cleveland and Buffalo before rounding
00:02:36the shaft of Lake Ontario.
00:02:43Love her.
00:02:44Where are you?
00:02:46Where are any of us, really?
00:02:48Is that him?
00:02:49Huh, give me that.
00:02:50Hey, Justin Bieber.
00:02:52I got 40 fucking people here with their hands up their asses.
00:02:55Did you misplace something, Dale?
00:02:57I'm done chasing you, bust a coffin.
00:03:00I saved your life.
00:03:01You owe me.
00:03:02Perhaps.
00:03:03I do.
00:03:04I do.
00:03:06I do.
00:03:06You'd be a head mounted above a coven toilet if it weren't for me.
00:03:10Transformational trauma, Dale.
00:03:11He's with Sophia again.
00:03:12What do you know about her?
00:03:13Mystery vagina passed its sell-by date.
00:03:16What do you mean, perhaps?
00:03:17You assume death at decapitation.
00:03:19A study done in Budapest had two Class B vampires surviving separation for nearly two hours.
00:03:24A vampire of Lestat's breeding could last four to five times.
00:03:27Chuck's dad has the herps.
00:03:29Daniel Malloy.
00:03:31Delivered unto the world April 16th, 1953, into the arms of his mother in a hospital.
00:03:36I assume it's not something vampires ask one another, the details of their mortal existence.
00:03:41It's considered rude.
00:03:44Nurtured or not nurtured, nudged in San Francisco towards a career of distinction and moderate fame.
00:03:50After the can, Chief.
00:03:51Sorry.
00:03:52Murdered and reborn July 18th, 2022, by the gremlin Armand.
00:03:57He led a brief, incidental life as a vampire.
00:04:02Incidental.
00:04:04Is that the right word?
00:04:06He found me shallow.
00:04:08I gave him every reason to.
00:04:09I have regrets when it comes to death.
00:04:12Oh, sorry.
00:04:13Yeah, he's here.
00:04:28What's that on your lip, Yada?
00:04:30Okay, we're going to be using a new camera today.
00:04:32It's called an interrotron.
00:04:34I'll be sitting here, but you're going to see my face in the camera.
00:04:37We will be like we're talking face to face.
00:04:41And we are shooting this in color, and we're going to anchor it to all the black and white
00:04:45tour footage, okay?
00:04:47So, you were a stutterer as a child.
00:04:54Evening then.
00:04:55Happy to be here.
00:04:56Could you state your name for the camera, please?
00:04:59I'm the front man, Lestat.
00:05:02The vampire Lestat.
00:05:03I'm immortal, more or less.
00:05:07The light of the sun, the sustained heat of an intense fire, Jefferson's starship,
00:05:13grot-wielding coven members.
00:05:15These things might destroy me, but there again, they might not.
00:05:34I'm a little killer.
00:05:36I'm a lonely one.
00:05:39I'm a sugar-dum-up-spy.
00:05:41Telling you to run.
00:05:43I'm a little shadow.
00:05:45I'm a last line.
00:05:47I'm a past and the future.
00:05:48The last of the sutures are cool and dead.
00:05:50Where the rock and roll is.
00:05:53Where the good's head.
00:05:55Where the hover mid-loving, the face of the mother, where they're stupid, right?
00:06:00Bang, bang.
00:06:01Bang, bang.
00:06:02Bang, bang.
00:06:06I'll fall down.
00:06:10Burn the ground.
00:06:14I'll fall down.
00:06:27Oh, that was shit.
00:06:31You've said this thing to me a couple of times on the bus, backstage, that the songs are your story.
00:06:40Must be important if I repeat.
00:06:41Or it's a doorstop because you don't want to talk about yourself.
00:06:45I'll kick that door down, Dan.
00:06:47I'd bunk it down with my cookies and trauma.
00:06:49Exactly my thinking.
00:06:51So let's run with this.
00:06:52Let's dig into these songs and see what we get.
00:06:55You have a song, Long Face.
00:07:07Long Face is an agreement between myself and the audience.
00:07:11Permission disguised as anthem.
00:07:13Oh, yeah, we're coming.
00:07:15Yeah, yeah, we're coming.
00:07:17Oh, yeah, I'm coming.
00:07:28I'm an actor in my makeup.
00:07:30I'll get fatter if and when we break up.
00:07:34Performative vampire.
00:07:35And at the end, they get the real thing.
00:07:37Black licorice.
00:07:38Structure and ritual.
00:07:40Judge undrained.
00:07:41Thrilled and shamed.
00:07:41Left one anymore.
00:07:42Well, that's great because the band thinks that the song's about...
00:07:45How the current culture has misshapen the mortal mind
00:07:49and how easy and unsatisfying the bringing of death has become.
00:07:53You must have experienced this, Dan.
00:07:55The memories you take in as you kill.
00:07:57Life is an endless cachet of influencer videos,
00:08:00Russian dashcams, and shame-ridden pornography.
00:08:04Or are we still pretending that you're human?
00:08:06So not about sucking dick.
00:08:10Performative journalist.
00:08:12Were you a stutterer as a child?
00:08:18Oh, he doesn't like that question.
00:08:20Well, we can come back to it.
00:08:23Let's talk about what happened in Detroit the other night.
00:08:26Some vampires tried to kill you, yeah?
00:08:29Is it a question if you merely put yeah at the end of the sentence?
00:08:32Pretty weak bunch, but they seemed organized.
00:08:35Christine.
00:08:36Which is different than the other two attempts on your life during this tour.
00:08:39Or is this self-financed vanity romp your vampire wishful spin on hope I die before I get old?
00:08:51Is my doc your eulogy?
00:08:53Did you promise him?
00:08:54I don't do promises.
00:08:56I've had 40 shows in 43 fucking nights.
00:08:59Nobody gives a fuck about what I was before.
00:09:01No one cares.
00:09:02No one seems to give a shit about you now, flatlining a thousand capacity venues.
00:09:06Let's take a walk.
00:09:07You're confused about the pursuit, then.
00:09:10It is not about asses on seats or streams on Pandora.
00:09:15It is about pure expression.
00:09:20Raphael's Three Graces.
00:09:22Brancuski's Bird in Space.
00:09:24Calvino's Invisible Cities.
00:09:26Cities.
00:09:26Cities.
00:09:33It's embarrassing.
00:09:36They're stuttering.
00:09:37Stop the cameras.
00:09:38No, no, no, no, no, no.
00:09:40Let them see.
00:09:43Let them see.
00:09:46I have had 40 shows in 43 fucking nights.
00:09:56Big nights.
00:09:58No one cares.
00:10:03No one cares.
00:10:27I'm the vampire, Louis de Pointe de Lac.
00:10:31Undone by your relentless questionings, Mr. Malloy.
00:10:33Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha.
00:10:40Oh!
00:11:03Hello, making a brief call to share an important message with you. You got the wrong address.
00:11:15I'm looking for Killer.
00:11:18Don't. Don't do that. Just think it. I'm a vampire. Just like you. Except I didn't disrespect my face like
00:11:26you done.
00:11:27What is that? Is that Jar Jar Binks dunking a basketball?
00:11:33Binks. Where's Killer?
00:11:55I'm looking for Killer.
00:11:58I'm looking for Killer.
00:11:58You're not Killer.
00:11:58You're here's nothing but it starts and slowly clips.
00:12:02Anybody seen Killer?
00:12:04Oh!
00:12:06Oh!
00:12:08Someone's here. We got him up on.
00:12:09Oh!
00:12:10Oh!
00:12:11Oh!
00:12:11Oh!
00:12:12You see the killer?
00:12:14Oh!
00:12:21Oh!
00:12:22No!
00:12:27Oh!

00:17:37you play beautifully
00:17:44I play like a tailor's son
00:17:54Did he say anything else?
00:17:57My dad.
00:18:02He said, um,
00:18:07tell him I love him
00:18:09and that I'm proud of him.
00:18:19What did he really say?
00:18:22He said, help him, help him to be a man.
00:18:26But he said it without this time, bro.
00:18:33Are you going to teach me to be a man?
00:18:36This is the only one.
00:18:42It goes where you think it goes.
00:18:44All the old tropes and trapes
00:18:45of tortured and forbidden love,
00:18:47blah, blah, blah, bipolar,
00:18:48blah, blah, blah.
00:18:49Fast forward.
00:18:51Stop.
00:18:53Vape.
00:18:54Check your phone.
00:18:56First play.
00:18:57Oh, good.
00:18:57Now he's a vampire.
00:18:58But you're not a vampire.
00:19:00You're the stuttering ape of O'Vern.
00:19:06Any Quebecers here?
00:19:07Tongue twisters, vocal exercises,
00:19:09repeated every day for two years
00:19:11while I washed the floors
00:19:12and emptied chamber pots,
00:19:14Echa Nod's theater,
00:19:15a job I got through Nicky
00:19:16who worked in the pit there.
00:19:18Go pull up the song for him
00:19:21that, uh,
00:19:22Why Do I Have to Feel?
00:19:24Oh, I love that song.
00:19:25The stuttering.
00:19:26You just bullied it out of yourself.
00:19:28Yeah, Nicky got me the job
00:19:30that cured my affliction.
00:19:31It was, uh,
00:19:32first love,
00:19:32not a great love.
00:19:39Buried yourself in the ground
00:19:41for a century
00:19:41over a not great love.
00:19:43Only thing you carry with you
00:19:45to New Orleans
00:19:45is a music box reminder
00:19:48of a not great love.
00:19:49I carried the box
00:19:50because I destroyed him, Dan.
00:19:52I carried the box
00:19:54to remind me
00:19:54what I was capable of.
00:19:56You perform her song.
00:20:09Can someone
00:20:10do something about this?
00:20:11Quiet on set.
00:20:36So,
00:20:37you perform a song
00:20:38every night
00:20:39by your abuser.
00:20:41Biggest fan.
00:20:43Abuser.
00:20:44Go pull up the song for him.
00:20:46Liberator.
00:20:47Emancipator.
00:20:48Uh-huh.
00:20:49He says,
00:20:49I want to give you
00:20:51everything I've got.
00:20:52I know you're stubborn,
00:20:53but you have to ask for it.
00:20:55Did Magnus
00:20:56ask your permission
00:20:58before transforming you
00:21:00into a vampire?
00:21:01I see it
00:21:02as an unbroken chain
00:21:04of similar songs
00:21:05in pop music.
00:21:06Herman Herman
00:21:06is laying on a lamppost.
00:21:08Every Breath You Take
00:21:09by the Police.
00:21:10I love that one.
00:21:12Eminem's stand.
00:21:13According to Louis,
00:21:13his name was Magnus.
00:21:15He took me from my room
00:21:17in Paris
00:21:18as I kicked and screamed,
00:21:20locked me in a room
00:21:21for a week
00:21:22with corpses.
00:21:23They all look like me.
00:21:25I mean,
00:21:25does that even sound like me, Dan?
00:21:27My coloring,
00:21:28my physique.
00:21:28That's a wonderful turn of phrase.
00:21:29Where's the assonance,
00:21:31the euphoric system?
00:21:32He fed on me for a week.
00:21:33I thought for sure
00:21:34I'd become one of them,
00:21:35but instead,
00:21:37he turned me into this.
00:21:39We love you, Paul Wayne.
00:21:41Louis was not there
00:21:43when Magnus abducted me.
00:21:44But he was there in New Orleans
00:21:45when you recounted it.
00:21:47And I was not there in Dubai
00:21:48to correct his faulty recall.
00:21:51Yeah.
00:21:59Yeah.
00:22:01I wanna take you something special, babe
00:22:04I wanna take you out tonight
00:22:08I think we got real potential, babe
00:22:11I got a battle of wine
00:22:17And yeah, that's me at your window, babe
00:22:21We're gonna have such a goddamn good time
00:22:25I wanna be your crescendo, babe
00:22:28Don't let me catch you crying
00:22:33Don't tell me the spell is breaking
00:22:37You're so perfect in that raging light
00:22:42I know I'm hard to look at sometimes
00:22:45But I'm here for the taking
00:22:48I wanna give you everything I got
00:22:52I know you're starting to do after us, brother
00:22:57I can tell you everything I'm not
00:23:01Yeah, I'm a dog and you're my brave little wolf killer
00:23:06Yeah, I'm a dog and you're my brave little wolf killer
00:23:17Hmm
00:23:20I understood my maker
00:23:23If I had seen 19 straight performances of my Lilio
00:23:26I would have abandoned all decorum, too
00:23:29Abandoned decorum?
00:23:30He made you a monster and killed himself in front of you
00:23:36I was an actor at a second-tier theater
00:23:39Squatting in a beheaded nobleman's flat
00:23:41With a severely depressed
00:23:42How do you still bordering my beauty?
00:23:45How was the kielbasa crafty?
00:23:48And as for the suicide, it gave me a likeness
00:23:51That I would not have known had he looted the centuries beside me
00:23:54I see the burden written on your face, Stan
00:23:57When I say God and you say monster
00:24:02Is it your absence but very much alive father walking around
00:24:06That gives you this lowly idea of yourself
00:24:08Son of Armand
00:24:10Who needs another victim song?
00:24:14Exactly
00:24:15Very rock and roll
00:24:16Still, it must have been hard keeping that from Nicky
00:24:21Armand got that part right in my book
00:24:24He confronted you on the street
00:24:26Abducted Nicky
00:24:27Fed him to his coven
00:24:28And yet
00:24:29You hid your vampirism from him
00:24:32Yeah?
00:24:33Question mark
00:24:35You're safe
00:24:36You are now Rumi in Paris
00:24:38What?
00:24:40My week?
00:24:41Delirium took you
00:24:43I've been your nursemaid
00:24:45You've been to all company
00:24:49And this?
00:24:52Oh, oh rush
00:24:54The petting is typhoid
00:24:56Also the doctor you slept through
00:24:58Our favorite game
00:25:00You lie
00:25:01And I believe you
00:25:03Remember?
00:25:04A Mexico!
00:25:06Gone out of the window
00:25:08I saw nothing unnatural happened
00:25:10You were down
00:25:12Wearing silk bridges
00:25:14I thought you were so patient
00:25:15Lies on lies on lies
00:25:17Sudden vanishings
00:25:18Your change dies
00:25:24And your mother
00:25:26I wish she alive
00:25:28I brought her to Rokamadu
00:25:30For a cure
00:25:31A black madonna blessed her
00:25:33Uh, your...
00:25:35What?
00:25:36Your mother?
00:25:39The vampire Gabriela
00:25:42Vladimir lives
00:25:43More alive!
00:25:45How?
00:25:47What?
00:25:48She followed me to Paris
00:25:51Her body was ready to die
00:25:53But her mind was not
00:25:56My first fledgling
00:26:00Louie must have told you
00:26:01No
00:26:02I thought it was discretion
00:26:04That kept her out of your book
00:26:07My love was a small box
00:26:08That I kept him in
00:26:09No room for the many hours
00:26:10I talked of her, I guess
00:26:13And...
00:26:13She...
00:26:14Where is she now?
00:26:16She's here right now
00:26:23Right...
00:26:23Here
00:26:29She died
00:26:32Vampire toddlerdom
00:26:33Always the hardest years
00:26:35As you know
00:26:35Or don't know, Dan
00:26:44What do you think about
00:26:45The Great Conversion?
00:26:46Oh
00:26:48The vampire thing
00:26:50Vampire is taking over the world
00:26:52Collaborating
00:26:53Hmm?
00:26:55Fucking stupid
00:26:56Can you get out of my eye line?
00:27:03Yeah
00:27:07Three flights up
00:27:10Your bones would be pieces
00:27:12What are you?
00:27:13What is she?
00:27:14La versa stufata
00:27:16Mother
00:27:17Outside the theater
00:27:18The ragged man
00:27:19Calling wolf killer
00:27:21Blackened passages
00:27:22Dog-tooth fiends
00:27:24I'm waiting
00:27:25You are gibberish
00:27:27I want to know you
00:27:28In this changed form
00:27:29Don't look to her
00:27:31Roger has brought you a house
00:27:33On the key
00:27:34I have opened a bank account
00:27:35In your name
00:27:35I could move to a damn
00:27:37And sell cloth
00:27:38Don't bite me out
00:27:39No, please
00:27:42Speak my thoughts
00:27:43Before I speak them
00:27:46You gave this witchery
00:27:47To her
00:27:50She was an hour
00:27:51From death
00:27:52Finally
00:27:55That's it
00:27:59Do you want me to murder?
00:28:01I want you to love me enough
00:28:03To give it to me
00:28:09I want you to love me enough to give it to me
00:28:14I want you to love me enough to give it to me
00:28:17You cannot do it
00:28:20You mustn't do it
00:28:29I've driven him mad
00:28:32I know I leave him to this madness
00:28:35You have used up your affection for him
00:28:38You know you have
00:28:40Don't bring him into eternity
00:28:49Disaster, my son
00:28:54His playing has greatly improved
00:28:56I cannot hear the actors over his improvement
00:28:59Well, I prefer his music to Gustav's act
00:29:02Well, you can return to the role anytime you wish
00:29:06And have your cumbersome words in my mouth again?
00:29:08No, thank you
00:29:12Are there blood drinkers in Italy?
00:29:16Excuse me?
00:29:17Are there covens like this one in Roma, Venezia, Salerno?
00:29:23Does Nicola know about us?
00:29:25Us?
00:29:27What is us?
00:29:28Do you think you're the only one in the company he drinks from?
00:29:31Do you think I am the only one with disdain for his fledgling?
00:29:34Take him aside
00:29:35You're the active manager
00:29:37Manage
00:29:38You're his maker
00:29:39Make him
00:29:40Is there an evil older than you?
00:29:43You're a maker, Marius
00:29:45My maker is dead
00:29:46I've told you that already
00:29:47Just check
00:29:52I'll give you the theater of the vampires
00:29:55The greatest spectacle of the boulevard
00:30:05He was Germanic as a mortal
00:30:07You'll find his way
00:30:09No, he won't
00:30:10I believe you
00:30:12I love you, Gustav
00:30:14Christ
00:30:17There's not room enough in this box for your desperation
00:30:24Has anyone seen a letter opener?
00:30:26We don't need a letter opener, Niki
00:30:27We don't get any letters
00:30:28We want to talk about your recent work in the theater, Nicola
00:30:31He's not in the chamber pot
00:30:32I left it there a week ago
00:30:33You don't like my music, Metro
00:30:35Well, it's not me
00:30:37It's my hands
00:30:37But I don't have my letter opener
00:30:39I think the music
00:30:40Sit down
00:30:40Will improve
00:30:40Once I find the letter opener
00:30:44We think you should take some time away from the theater, Niki
00:30:52Did you two decide this in the wings?
00:30:54Huh?
00:30:55Or the box?
00:30:56The Place Dauphine?
00:30:58Last Sunday?
00:30:59The Hotel de Ville?
00:31:01And the Feast of Assumption?
00:31:03And the Night After?
00:31:03Stop! Stop! Look at me! Look at me!
00:31:08I left it here!
00:31:09I left it here!
00:31:10Yes, I've warned
00:31:11His mind is critical
00:31:12You opened up a letter from your mother
00:31:13How dare you open up my letter?
00:31:16He pouted and shouted
00:31:17I was trying to make the opener happy
00:31:20I was trying to give it purpose
00:31:24Here it is
00:31:37Lester?
00:31:39Can you cut the other?
00:31:42I fear I won't be able to with only one now
00:31:46Can you help him, please?
00:31:48Are you Niki?
00:31:50No, no
00:31:51Niki, you're going to stone away too soon, Danny
00:31:53Stop!
00:31:54Would you point away?
00:31:55Thank you ever so much
00:31:56Stop, Niki!
00:31:57No!
00:32:05It's all a misunderstanding, my love
00:32:08I wish to serve the God of the Darkwood like the rest
00:32:12Forgive me
00:32:13My hands are much older than the rest of me
00:32:19Forgive me
00:32:29Gabriela went to coffin
00:32:32Leaving us
00:32:34And Armand
00:32:39I told Niki that I loved him
00:32:44From the first seconds I saw him in Paris
00:32:50That I was
00:32:52Drunk with this love
00:32:56I was engulfed by it
00:32:59Your maker would tell you I was being kind, but
00:33:05In the moment
00:33:08The words were true
00:33:14I think
00:33:22I remember the light
00:33:27Fireplace
00:33:29Reflecting golden onto his face
00:33:34And his
00:33:37Bare arms
00:33:43But I would not look at the world
00:33:46I could not
00:33:52I, um
00:33:57I couldn't do it
00:34:02But I watched
00:34:09As Armand
00:34:12Pushed him into the fire
00:34:15And made sure he stayed there
00:34:19With a poker in his chest
00:34:30Nicky had a bemused look on his face
00:34:32As he burned
00:34:34His mouth
00:34:38Formed into a
00:34:43Circle
00:34:46And he made only one sound
00:35:11As though he knew
00:35:14That isn't dead
00:35:17It was a nothingness
00:35:26I'm angry
00:35:27I'm angry
00:35:28I'm angry
00:35:29Can we get something
00:35:31Yeah, okay, we're cutting
00:35:32We tried booking something called the Ryan Center
00:35:35In Kingston, Rhode Island
00:35:368,000 seats
00:35:37I thought this deep in we'd be able to fill it
00:35:40We sold 2,500
00:35:42Including a papering service
00:35:44Unlike your last vampire
00:35:46There are no delusions here
00:35:51Arduous
00:35:52It's tour
00:35:55My ego
00:35:58And still
00:35:59It's not what I hunt
00:36:01Never say I didn't give you anything
00:36:03Keys
00:36:05Let, how are you running?
00:36:09How is Czech me?
00:36:11Like
00:36:12Curlú vivárry
00:36:13Fun for three minutes
00:36:14Then you're longing for Prague
00:36:16Prague is that way
00:36:17You can dig yourself a hole in cork
00:36:19And be buried in a matya the night after
00:36:21Provoked
00:36:22Bored
00:36:23Ah, you'll run fewer heads that way
00:36:26There's a shameful tiki bar
00:36:27In a Parkdale
00:36:29Rain check
00:36:30Sophia
00:36:41Well
00:36:43That took forever
00:36:45Right?
00:36:47Run it back
00:36:48About, I don't know
00:36:50Four minutes
00:36:52Been trying to crack those cheeks for two months
00:36:56Vampires
00:36:57They're weird just like you
00:37:00Okay
00:37:01Let's see
00:37:02What we got here
00:37:08What the hell?
00:37:10Go, go back a few more minutes
00:37:11Please
00:37:13Stop
00:37:15Wait a second
00:37:17What am I looking at here?
00:37:19Did you go back far enough?
00:37:21Alright, let's
00:37:22Let's keep going back
00:37:24Yeah, right about there
00:37:25Stop
00:37:26Can you get out of my eyeline?
00:37:29Yeah
00:37:31What?
00:37:35Where's the part where he talks about transforming Nikki?
00:37:40They
00:37:41What?
00:37:42What?
00:37:43He just
00:37:43He just
00:37:44Just sat there like a fucking blow-up doll
00:37:47And no one said anything?
00:37:48Nothing?
00:37:49You gotta be fucking kidding me
00:37:51What is this?
00:37:52No, yeah
00:37:52It was freaking weirdsville
00:37:54To you just sat there for like
00:37:55Half an hour, eh?
00:37:59He was crying fucking blood tears
00:38:01Did no one see that?
00:38:03A mean-spirited telepathic prank
00:38:05The price paid for amusing my muses
00:38:08It brought poor Dan to his knees
00:38:11And seeded a hate for me inside him
00:38:13There to be warded in the sunlight later
00:38:17But what can I say?
00:38:19Serving cunt has its consequences
00:38:25You are listening to The Failures
00:38:28Album 28, Side B
00:38:32You gonna carry me into the threshold?
00:38:34Yes, ma'am
00:38:35Mm-hmm
00:38:49You gonna make me a mom in the night?
00:38:51I don't think it works like that for us no more
00:38:53But we can give it a try
00:38:57We're home
00:39:08You're trying to get back to my kids
00:39:12Come on
00:39:13I got you in bed
00:39:18That don't happen
00:39:30Surprise
00:39:33Congrats on a happy day
00:39:35I couldn't make it to the ceremony
00:39:37I hope you don't mind me inviting myself to the honeymoon
00:39:40You make that mess upstairs, friend?
00:39:43I did
00:39:47Where's the food?
00:39:50I'll call a maneuver
00:39:58What the fuck did you do to my husband?
00:40:08Amaya told the truth?
00:40:10You wanna tell me what that is?
00:40:12Oh shit
00:40:13This is okay
00:40:15This is about the fucking little stab shit
00:40:20Yeah, that
00:40:21That wasn't my fault
00:40:23I had these Gen Z fledglings
00:40:26These righteous fuckers
00:40:28Who thinks we ought to be in the sewers and shit
00:40:30Shhh
00:40:31He's my baby Janx
00:40:32His baby
00:40:32Shut up, Bruce
00:40:34You call me Bruce?
00:40:37Because my name is killer
00:40:55You and I have a friend in common
00:41:00More wine
00:41:04Cold tea, they call it here
00:41:10Apples with a hint of cowardice
00:41:15Still in rags?
00:41:17Is this better?
00:41:23Same face, same smell
00:41:25No hope for you, Father Max
00:41:27Oh, not exactly forthcoming
00:41:30With the vampire journalists
00:41:32Left out a few prickly details
00:41:37Uh-oh
00:41:38You forgot to put your blinkers on
00:41:41Uh-oh
00:41:43Uh-oh
00:41:43Uh-oh
00:41:45Uh-oh
00:41:45Uh-oh
00:41:46Uh-oh
00:41:47Bruce walked back from the fire
00:41:49Leaned down over me
00:41:51And for a second I thought I was gonna go right there
00:41:55But no
00:41:55Louis de Palme
00:41:57He plunked me onto his motorbike
00:41:59Now
00:41:59And swished into his friendly self
00:42:03The Lord's right hand
00:42:04Will die the dead
00:42:04The Lord's right hand
00:42:05Is my strength of salvation
00:42:07The chance of joy and victory
00:42:08Resound from the sense of bright
00:42:10The Lord's right hand
00:42:10Is the dead
00:42:11No
00:42:12No
00:42:12The Lord's right hand
00:42:13Is no more of that in my present
00:42:16The Lord's right hand
00:42:16Who will live and proclaim
00:42:17What the Lord's right hand
00:42:18The Lord's right hand
00:42:20Is done bloody things
00:42:21Back inside
00:42:25You got
00:42:25Your song
00:42:28Who we got
00:42:29to his house. I guess my biggest question is why are you checking me down now? I mean we all
00:42:34read
00:42:35your little page-turner. And it's all going dumb in my mind too. Crossed out. New sentence. You tipped
00:42:44over the collywobble shelf and took the cloth off the long table. We eat your soul at the long table.
00:42:53Sixty-eight courses so far. We keep waiting for the bill but the plates keep coming. And
00:43:00we keep asking ourselves, when's he going to make an album? When we are ready! She entertains
00:43:10a lot of little French folks with her death. I don't do nothing that bad to her, Daddy Lou.
00:43:19Guess I don't have to tell you, dear diary, what it's like to have a person crack your
00:43:25spine, open you up and shove a pencil inside you. Very hard company at the long table.
00:43:32a heart, a finger, a drummer, a pimp. You love me, Claudia. And I fought him, even with my broken
00:43:51arm and then my re-broken arm. But even still, all the bad things happen that bad men do.
00:44:00He had my legs pulled apart. And my dress pulled up around my waist. And that awful, stuffed full, too
00:44:13wet feeling down there. Like I was packed with dirt. And I hope one day he feels this. Small and
00:44:28cornered.
00:44:30And crushed like a cat. But then there were the parts where he brought home kills. And I sat with
00:44:40him and ate. I just said what he wanted to hear.
00:44:52Ask for it, child. And it ain't easy to like myself because of it. All the light's gone out of
00:45:01your blue eyes. I even once felt a twinge of something nice. As if all the summer days are gone.
00:45:10And not the worst thing ever.
00:45:20He let me go because I seemed small. And it looked like he'd won. And he did win. Because I
00:45:30want nothing.
00:45:32To be nothing. And say nothing. And do nothing. You know the stupidest of all, dear diary?
00:45:46I thought I was the thing lurking in the shadows. I thought I was.
00:45:52I thought I was.
00:46:02That's it.
00:46:06Yes.
00:46:08Yes.
00:46:10Yes.
00:46:25I imagine you're naked in your gold, gilded bed bed.
00:46:30Wondering why it didn't end on the highway.
00:46:33How I got on stage the following night to another feverishly modest audience.
00:46:39I couldn't pretend anymore that we were a ticketmaster must-have.
00:46:43Or that I wasn't having a nervous breakdown.
00:46:45Or that psychosis wasn't the exhilarating, horrifying by-product of romping and stomping around the hippocampus.
00:46:52But here's the thing.
00:46:54I loved the music.
00:46:56I loved it.
00:46:58It was compelling me forward, pulling me through the perennial walls of my psyche.
00:47:04And I thought, why not ride it to blindness?
00:47:07Cause it seemed possible.
00:47:09This was the muddy bottom.
00:47:11And on the other side, a marble floor.
00:47:14Polished to the horizon.
00:47:16Music in its purest expression would make me worse.
00:47:20And then make me better.
00:47:24Bring on the music.
00:47:25You can't fuck away the loneliness.
00:47:32It'll wait till you're done, till you come.
00:47:40Like a vampire.
00:47:42You can't drink away the loneliness.
00:47:49It'll wait till the next day.
00:47:54Like a headache.
00:47:57Sucking you dry.
00:48:00You can't escape this loneliness.
00:48:06It'll say, what a mess.
00:48:10How would anybody ever love you?
00:48:21Don't hide it all.
00:48:28Don't bury those feelings.
00:48:35Don't worship that burden on your own.

00:51:53yeah thank you for giving me another way through thank you thank you for sharing
00:52:04so who else wants to share tonight
00:52:11come on guys i will i'll share um hello
00:52:21my name is arun hello arun
00:52:29and i am an addict
00:52:40listen to tracks from the vampire list ad wherever you stream music
00:53:00hi what can i get you the star is going to get us all killed i've got five more shows
00:53:06i'm getting
00:53:06bored so what are we doing shall we scorch the mortal world
00:53:16the stuttering wolf killer the vampire list ad
00:53:20evening then happy to be here you really caught my
00:53:26malloy is a deft investigator but he's never investigated anybody like this before and
00:53:32that's going to become really clear in this episode were you a stutterer as a child it's a really
00:53:37wild interview scene i mean there's like 300 things happening at one time you perform a song
00:53:43every night by your abuser magnus biggest fan
00:53:47you see the music video of how the start wants to portray his transformation and he's like i'm gonna
00:54:05write you my you know sweet little taylor swift pop ballad song make a fool out of my maker
00:54:17he wants to think about it as like he was my fan and he made me but of course the
00:54:21truth
00:54:22within that episode asserts itself
00:54:29we cast damien atkins as magnus he's terrifying vulnerable creature and the transformation that he
00:54:39inflicts upon lestat is incredibly violent ready and action
00:54:46we were trying to really make it as brutal as we possibly could
00:54:50so that had a real contrast to his kind of gilded music video version that he wanted to to show
00:55:00and then damien's got this incredible like neck blood pump you know that i'm
00:55:06getting rained on beneath and blood going into my eyes and we tried to make it as gruesome as possible
00:55:12and really show that it was an actual assault and that is something that lestat like completely carries
00:55:18through his life as his transformation through his life as his transformation was a full-on
00:55:23kidnapping assault he's got to reconcile that on a daily basis
00:55:33and what happened at 29 nicolas de l'enfant my first love don't bring him into eternity
00:55:49disaster my son gabriella cannot bear nikki i think she really is being honest and i think she's
00:55:55absolutely right she knows that lestat doesn't really want to spend eternity with nikki does
00:56:00nikola know about us us what is us this is one of those scenes that i was really interested to
00:56:08see
00:56:08how they were going to revisit the theater this is basically a revisit of
00:56:17armand's story to daniel in episode three of season two but now it's through lestat's eyes
00:56:23which arguably is maybe the more truthful version i love you start christ and there's also the dynamic
00:56:32of gabriella oh she doesn't like armand do you think you're the only one in the company he drinks
00:56:37from do you think i am the only one with disdain for his fledgling armand is like the consummate third
00:56:43wheel in every situation louis and lestat armand gabriella and lestat armand and armand's jealousy
00:56:49really shows
00:56:54he knew that nikki couldn't withstand what it takes to live this life he was already unstable before he
00:57:01became a vampire and armand has seen vampires succumb to the madness so he's not surprised when it
00:57:09finally turns i couldn't do it but i watched as armand pushed him into the fire and made sure he
00:57:19stayed
00:57:19there
00:57:23malloy thinks he strikes gold as it turns out that's uh an illusion what am i looking at here what
00:57:32is this
00:57:32no yeah it was freaking weirdsville to you to sat there for like half an hour eh it is a
00:57:38mean spirited
00:57:38prank in the fact that malloy didn't get it on camera but he is talking truth to malloy when he
00:57:44gives him his telepathic story about what happened there it's more of a shared experience between the
00:57:49two of them the anger is deep to some degree lestat is bullying daniel and i don't respond well to
00:57:56bullying and i will push back hard we would like you to take care of our problem in detroit mr
00:58:04du lac
00:58:05the coven leader's name is bruce i believe your claudia spent a few nights with him once
00:58:12at the end of episode two raglan james tempts louie with this getting revenge on the guy who hurt claudia
00:58:20and louie has a big hole in his heart and he feels like doing this will fill it making a
00:58:27brief call to
00:58:28share an important message with you you got the wrong ad the wrong that first section when he's
00:58:34trying to get to bruce he's doing his job what i'm looking for killer you're not killer okay he's become
00:58:42so adept at doing this he's very efficient and also he's held himself back a lot from having that kind
00:58:50killer instinct so then when it comes out it like it explodes the thing i actually found creepiest about
00:58:59that set was the bathtubs and the people lying in there fully clothed and i was talking to one of
00:59:05the people that was in the bathtub i was like is that cold or is that warm and they were
00:59:10like it's
00:59:11warm it's warm i was like okay so it's like a bath it's still horrible
00:59:18he wanted bruce to understand on some level a degree of the pain and of the suffering that
00:59:25he put claudia under you and i have a friend in common i personally had a kind of complicated
00:59:33relationship with louie reading claudia's diary entry because i sort of felt like that's not really
00:59:40his place but i think louie thinks that he's speaking on her behalf and it looked like he'd
00:59:45won and he did win because i want nothing to be nothing it's just important that before he dies
00:59:56he can hear it for himself the hell that he created and then it's done
01:00:14i think one of the most poignant moments of this season up to this point is we see him in
01:00:20that diner
01:00:20i think he realizes almost immediately that it can't bring her back it can't undo
01:00:27the pain hi you okay who can i get you anything else no i'm good thank you regina
