00:00After WrestleMania, you called kind of your first title run kind of a practice run that you felt like the
00:05next one obviously would be better if they're getting a chance to do one.
00:10What did you learn from that run?
00:11And how do you feel like if you do beat Tiffany that this next run can be better than the
00:15first one?
00:17I think that trust is a major play in all of this.
00:22And I have been able to go out there and deliver because at the end of the day, the end
00:26of the story is the match, right?
00:28And so I think I've learned to really do things my way, just do it my way.
00:37And I haven't really been doing things my way.
00:41I've kind of just been taking things and just going with the flow.
00:45But now with trust, I've been able to really horn in on my skills and do things my way and
00:52how I would say it and how I would go about it.
00:56So that is something that I learned in my first run is just now, okay, you've seen what I can
01:03do.
01:04Now let's really horn in on my skills, you know, when I'm special at and when I lack at and
01:09like, let's pick it up from there.
01:11So this time around, I'm just going to do things my way.
01:15I'm just going to do it my way.
01:16Okay, unapologetic, I mean well, and continue to just strive and, you know, I'll be a grand slam, I believe,
01:24if I do take this on.
01:28So just doing things my way.
01:30What I learned is patience, though.
01:33I learned a lot of patience, a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot
01:36of patience.
01:37But ever since I lost the title, I've been wrestling more than ever.
01:42And I'm very appreciative of that because that's all I want to do is wrestle.
01:45I came here to wrestle and to get better.
01:47And I've been doing that.
01:49So with or without the title, I'm Jay Cargo.
01:52I've been here for a little over two years.
01:55But people have to understand, like, my first several months, I wasn't wrestling.
02:01I didn't start consistently wrestling until after media.
02:04And then after that, I was still with someone.
02:07And I was so I was adjusting to be working in a tag.
02:10And I've never been in a tag prior to that.
02:12I've never worked as a face prior to that.
02:15So I was still doing heel antics as a face.
02:17But that's because previously, I was just being myself.
02:22My character was just an extension of myself.
02:24And my character still is an extension of myself, just a little more lukewarm than what I was.
02:30Because obviously, I have to cater to the audience.
02:33But so it's so many new things that I've, you know, I'm being a champion in a new company.
02:40How does a champion work?
02:42What does a champion do in this company?
02:45How do they sustain themselves?
02:47How do you so and, you know, with our work schedule, like, I've never worked as much as I have
02:54being here at WWE.
02:57So it's so much adjusting that how to do.
02:59I'm still a mother at the end of the day.
03:00I own a sports team at the end of the day.
03:02It was a lot of adjusting that I had to do when I came over and have that character changes
03:08and the unknowns because I'm still figuring things out.
03:12As much as you opt in here for going on, what, three years now, I'm still blind to a lot
03:18of things.
03:18I'm still ignorant to a lot of things.
03:21I'm growing.
03:21And as I get these achievements, that's when you grow in that space.
03:24So me being a solo champion for the first time, I had to grow in that space because now I
03:30have to carry my own.
03:31I don't have someone to soundboard and talk to and figure out ideas.
03:36It just got to work.
03:37And I just got to go out there and do it to the best that I can do.
03:40So just a lot of adjusting.
03:44Whose idea was it to put you, Meachin, and BFAB together, especially with some limited TV time they had?
03:51It felt like it got them something now to do.
03:55And do you prefer kind of creatively to be in a faction to have those people around you to work
04:00off of?
04:01I mean, obviously, you did a little bit in AEW, too.
04:03Yeah.
04:03I mean, well, I was a part of the big three, too.
04:05So I was a part of the big three.
04:07I just felt like I needed layers.
04:10So I actually went to the writers and I spoke to them about these two.
04:14And I was just like, hey, like, what do you guys think?
04:18Can we do this?
04:19But initially, I was actually pitching for another person as well to join the faction.
04:25It didn't happen.
04:26And I don't want to put names out there.
04:28But it would have been great if this person was an addition as well.
04:33A little hint was that she was from NXT, but it's OK.
04:37But I wanted these two.
04:39And when I gave them the idea, they were like, oh, yeah, like, that sounds great.
04:42We didn't think it was going to happen.
04:44We didn't think it was going to happen.
04:46I just thought, you know, like, hey, like, this is layers to things and it can make sense.
04:50We can make sense out of it.
04:52And they were hungry and they're like, hell, yeah, let's do this.
04:55Let's see if it works.
04:56So it had been something that was talked about for a while.
05:01And because of the actual delay of it, we didn't think it was going to happen.
05:05But then it happened and we are very grateful of it.
05:08And, you know, these two women can work.
05:10It was something that, you know, we all really wanted to come to fruitation.
05:15And we're still getting to learn one another.
05:17And we're still growing.
05:18And just imagine if we're with each other for so long.
05:21But again, I've been sour off of groups.
05:23I learned my lesson with the big three, I'm not ignorant and they are ignorant as well.
05:29But they see power and they want power.
05:31And I want them to win that tag team title just as much as they want to see my title
05:34over my shoulder again, the WWE women's title.
05:37So and it just happens to be that Tiffany got in the way.
05:40So I got to face her this weekend at Night of Champions because she can't mind her business.
05:44But I mean, they want to see gold on my shoulder.
05:48And I love that for me.
05:49And I want to see gold on their waist.
05:51So we have an alliance.
05:53We have an understanding that we're just going to take over.
05:58How proud are you of your matches with Rhea?
06:01And do you feel like after, you know, kind of all the work that you're getting in that you're at
06:05the point where, hey, my next big match continues to be my best match?
06:09Yeah, I've always took pride in wanting to do that.
06:14And it's just consistency because for some reason, you know, it's not like Tiffany and I have had great matches.
06:21People probably try to act blind to the fact, but Tiffany and I have had great matches.
06:25I've had great matches with Naomi.
06:26I had a great match with Jordan Grace.
06:29I've had several matches that were really good, but it's like people forget.
06:34For some reason, people are so brainwashed and they just have amnesia out of the blue.
06:39Like, you know, this is my only.
06:40And it's like, no, like, have you guys really watched what I've done before?
06:44Like, you're you're acting very slow.
06:46Like, let's let's try to pick up the pace.
06:49But I always want my next my next match to be my best match.
06:53And with Tiffany, Tiffany and I really have chemistry and we're able to go.
06:57We're really she's athletic.
06:59She's so athletic.
07:00I'm a powerhouse.
07:01There's so much upside to that.
07:03And that's when Rhea and I were like, hey, we don't get that many powerhouse matches.
07:07What can we do to separate this from the other matches?
07:10And so we're like, all right, let's let's like have a hard hitting match.
07:14Just what Naomi and I hard hitting matches.
07:16That's what made our match so great was that we didn't hold back.
07:19Hey, lay it in.
07:21Apologize later.
07:22Rhea and I, we were two powerhouses.
07:24How can we make this match?
07:26OK, well, we don't do these powerhouse moves.
07:28Let's really sell our asses off.
07:30Excuse my language.
07:31Let's really have the facials.
07:33Let's really have the emotion.
07:34Let's let's do that.
07:35And Rhea is so amazing.
07:37I feel like she's like the Tyler creator of faces as far as like facial expressions.
07:43Yeah, she she's so good with her facial expressions.
07:46And it made me want to step it up and say, OK, I need to be more so in the
07:50moment.
07:50I need to have, you know, our producer, Jason Jordan, was like, hey, you got you got the moves
07:55down.
07:56Triple H is like you got the moves down.
07:58Jason Jordan's like you got the moves down.
08:00You got the in-betweens down.
08:01You just need the facials.
08:02And you're going up against somebody who is to the moon with their facials.
08:08What you need to really hoard in on your facials.
08:11So I took that match.
08:12I was like, all right, well, let me slow down.
08:15Let me sell more.
08:16Let me have the facials.
08:18Let me bring the crowd in.
08:21And I did exactly that.
08:23And I think that's the only thing other than the fact that, you know, I'm across the ring
08:26from someone legendary like Rhea Ripley.
08:30That I mean, I just had to horn in on those skills and really be in the moment and not
08:33focus on what's next and just taking my time.
08:37But I always want my next match to be the next the best match.
08:40So I'm expecting this weekend at Night of Champions to to be exactly that.
08:46Obviously, we've kind of been teasing you and Charlotte Flair pretty much since the minute
08:50you walked in the company.
08:51Yes.
08:52It seems like we're getting closer and closer, obviously, after you your attack on her last
08:57week.
08:57What would it signal to you that, hey, it's it's finally time for that match with Charlotte
09:02now?
09:02And is that like with that's the next stepping stone kind of for you to get to face her here?
09:10It was been supposed to happen.
09:12I felt like I was going to say Charlotte many, many moons ago.
09:16But I it's happening at the perfect timing.
09:21I don't know what's happening because in wrestling, I truly I never understood.
09:27It was my old co-worker, Chris Statlander.
09:30And I remember we had a conversation about a title and she was like, well, I don't believe
09:38it.
09:38I'll believe it when I see it.
09:40And I'm like, girl, do you not hear?
09:41It's going to happen.
09:42And she's like, no, I don't believe it until I see it.
09:44And with experience in this industry, you understand until it happens, you don't believe
09:51it.
09:51So I don't I don't know when I'm hoping it happens soon.
09:56It's something that's bowled over several times.
09:58And I think we have such.
10:02I think we can really put on a show.
10:04And I think that we both have a lot of this, but like so much stature and grace at the
10:09same
10:10time.
10:11Um, and I think it could be a very, very, very unique money making match.
10:15And it's a dream match that I wanted when I first got into this company as well.
10:20So I'm hoping sooner than later it happens.
10:23I've I promise you, I've I swear it was supposed to happen forever ago, but it hasn't.
10:28Um, but I'm looking forward to that match.
10:31You obviously said you had your worst nightmare happen the other day when when you're kind of
10:35comes off.
10:36What's going through your head in the moment?
10:37And then to see the praise for you afterwards for for how well you handled that situation.
10:43I mean, I didn't die.
10:44So I guess my initial reaction was to roll out the ring.
10:50But um, because it's just it's just automatic.
10:54Like it's oh my gosh, like this is my biggest because people don't understand like I have
10:59a short hair.
10:59Well, I had I just cut my hair off again, but I have short I have a short Halle Berry
11:03cut.
11:03So people don't understand when I always say, hey, guys, this is a wig.
11:07It's my character.
11:08It's a wig when I go home and I'm with my family.
11:11Yes, I have the same name, but like I dial it down like I'm not the same person.
11:16My character is just an extension of who I am.
11:18It's a big extension, but it's an extension of who I am.
11:22And it's like all of us wear wigs, extensions, tapings, something all of us.
11:29So, you know, of course, I want to roll into a little ball and just disappear.
11:34But my wrestling brain had kicked in and I knew that the women couldn't finish this match
11:43without me.
11:44And I was trying to win gold, like I'm trying to go forth and do what I got to do.
11:50But it got the best of me.
11:52It was very distracting, very, very, very distracting.
11:55But, you know, these women deserved a great match.
11:58And I couldn't just stop that.
12:00The match was going great.
12:02I couldn't just stop that.
12:03So my body just went into override and I just had to finish the match at any way possible.
12:10I mean, I took the Soul Snatcher, I thought, very well with one hand.
12:14So I was very proud of myself doing that.
12:17I just I just buckled down and just did it because, listen, my inner child was screaming
12:23the entire time I was doing it.
12:25Oh, my gosh.
12:26If someone the entire time I was screaming on the inside.
12:29But I'm just happy to get through it and persevere it all and keep it moving.
12:34What would it mean to be Tiffany, you know, Saturday and be able to show people what what that
12:39next, you know, version of a Jade Cardinal title run will look like?
12:44Everything.
12:45I think trust is major right now because, like I said, I had my practice run.
12:51So I know what to expect.
12:52It was my first time ever being a solo champion when I was the WWE Women's Champion.
12:57So it was my first time ever.
12:59I didn't know what to expect.
13:00I didn't know like I've seen examples in Cody and, you know, I've seen Naomi hold a title.
13:07I've seen Bianca hold a title, but I've never personally held such a prestige title.
13:13So now that I understand how it works and to horn out all my skills and trust myself,
13:19because I was more so just writing off of what people wanted for me and what they they were
13:25doing for me.
13:26But now it's time for me to say, no, this is how I do things.
13:29This makes sense.
13:31This is how I talk.
13:33So I think trust is major in there.
13:36And this time around, I think I've I've earned a little bit of that trust.
13:42And I mean, again, I didn't want to come.
13:45I didn't want to go for the U.S. title.
13:46It just happens to be that Tiffany didn't mind her business.
13:48And if she want to take something to mind, I'm going to take something to your.
13:51But then I'm definitely whenever Rhea comes back, I'm coming for that WWE Women's Championship.
13:58That's for sure.
