00:15A cargo vessel traveling through the Strait of Hormuz has been struck by a projectile,
00:20according to the British military.
00:22The attack took place on Thursday while a ship was sailing along a United Nations-approved
00:28maritime route through the strategically vital waterway.
00:32And the timing is raising serious concerns.
00:35Just hours before the incident, Iran had issued fresh warnings to commercial vessels using
00:40a newly announced shipping corridor backed by Oman in the Strait of Hormuz.
00:46This is the SEPA Navy warning.
00:48Transiting in the Strait of Hormuz is only possible with SEPA Navy permission and undesignated
00:55route.
00:55If any vessels attempt to transit in the Strait without our permission or AIS off or outside
01:03of the designated route, it's responsible for any consequences of any danger.
01:10This is SEPA Navy out.
01:14The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations Center confirmed the attack and said there
01:19were no casualties and no environmental impacts reported from the strike.
01:23But the message from Tehran had already been clear.
01:28Iran's paramilitary Revolutionary Guard had warned ships not to transit the area without
01:34Tehran's permission.
01:36In a newly released video, the Iranian armed forces delivered a direct warning to vessels
01:42operating near the Strait of Hormuz.
01:44The statement declared that transit through the Strait is only possible with IRGC Navy permission
01:51and on designated routes.
01:53It further warned that any vessel sailing without authorization, operating outside designated routes,
02:00or turning off its AIS tracking system would be responsible for any consequences.
02:06Now, attention is also turning to the military response in the region.
02:10Current aerial tracking data reportedly shows significant U.S. Air Force activity over and
02:17around the Strait of Hormuz following the attack.
02:20At least five KC-135 strato-tanker aerial refueling aircraft have been observed operating in the area,
02:29indicating heightened military readiness and surveillance.
02:33While Washington has not yet publicly linked the tanker activity to the attack,
02:37the increased presence comes as tensions remain elevated across the Gulf.
02:41The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world's most important maritime choke points, handling a
02:48significant share of global energy shipments every day. Any disruption to commercial traffic in these
02:55waters has the potential to impact international shipping, energy markets, and regional security.
03:01For now, there are no reports of injuries and investigations into the projectile strike are continuing.
03:07But with Iran issuing direct warnings to ships, a commercial vessel now hit on a recognized international
03:14route, and increased U.S. military activity overhead, concerns are growing that the security situation
03:21in the Strait of Hormuz may be entering a far more dangerous phase.
03:26The key question now is whether this remains an isolated incident or marks the beginning of a
03:32broader confrontation in one of the world's most sensitive waterways.
