00:00:30I won two pollicers. I'm taking this thing to camp.
00:00:33How did I get you?
00:00:34Sophia.
00:00:35Hello, Sophia.
00:00:37My maker called for his mama and I came.
00:00:40My first paramour, Nicolas Delafont, a violinist.
00:00:43He is sick and safe.
00:00:45He is a sonnier.
00:00:45You are a son of Nicolas, one of us.
00:00:48He's so fragile.
00:00:49There were four pages torn out.
00:00:51It was better when he broke my bones.
00:00:52It was when he had me pinned and he told me he loved me.
00:00:55That fucked me up.
00:00:56We would like you to take care of our problem in Detroit.
00:01:00I believe your Claudia spent a few nights with him once.
00:01:08You are listening to The Failures, album 22, side A.
00:01:13The vainglorious homogeny of the Toronto skyline is something to behold.
00:01:18An onslaught of impractical condominiums dominated by a 147-floor waterpick.
00:01:24Its banality is lost on the polite citizenry of Canada.
00:01:28To them, it's iconic.
00:01:30And what the friends and family of Avery Olsen and Natalie Bokel Hyde confirmed as a must-see
00:01:35when the two planned their honeymoon and waited for Avery's divorce to finalize.
00:01:39Had they stayed within the realities of their budget and consummated their union in their home province,
00:01:44the marriage might have lasted longer.
00:01:47But love born from a speed dating event in Musjo, Sakasachuan merited an unhurried commemoration.
00:01:55Can I offer my assistance?
00:01:56Oh, mercy! Aren't you the angel?
00:02:00Kind of me, sir. Thank you.
00:02:02My pleasure. I know these moments last a lifetime.
00:02:05Just make sure we're not in the center center and that the tower isn't coming out of his head.
00:02:09Hmm, the rule of thirds, the golden mean.
00:02:12And thus, amenities from the Radisson Blue honeymoon package went unused.
00:02:17Exchanged as they were for a vampiric appointment in Samara.
00:02:23Gabriela's divine intervention had raised my raptorial spirits,
00:02:28and I channeled our kills into prurient performances,
00:02:32licking the underside of Lake Erie in Cleveland and Buffalo before rounding the shaft of Lake Ontario.
00:02:42Lover.
00:02:44Where are you?
00:02:46Where are any of us, really?
00:02:48Is that him?
00:02:49Ah, give me that.
00:02:50Hey.
00:02:51Justin Bieber.
00:02:52I got 40 fucking people here with their hands up their asses.
00:02:55Did you misplace something there?
00:02:57I'm done chasing you, bust a coffin.
00:03:00I saved your life.
00:03:01You owe me-
00:03:02Perhaps.
00:03:03I do.
00:03:04I do.
00:03:06I do.
00:03:06We'll be ahead.
00:03:07Mounted above a coven toilet if it weren't for me.
00:03:10Transformational trauma down.
00:03:11It's with Sophia again.
00:03:12What do you know about her?
00:03:13Mystery vagina passed itself by date.
00:03:15What do you mean, perhaps?
00:03:17You assume death at decapitation?
00:03:19A study done in Budapest had two Class B vampires surviving separation for nearly two hours.
00:03:24A vampire of Lestat's breeding could last four to five times if-
00:03:27Chuck's dad has the herps.
00:03:29Daniel Malloy.
00:03:31Delivered unto the world April 16th, 1953, into the arms of his mother in a hospital.
00:03:37I assume it's not something vampires ask one another, the details of their mortal existence.
00:03:41It's considered rude.
00:03:44Nurtured or not nurtured, nudged in San Francisco towards a career of distinction and moderate thing.
00:03:50After the can, Chief.
00:03:51Sorry.
00:03:51Murdered and reborn July 18th, 2022, by the gremlin Armand.
00:03:57He led a brief, incidental life as a vampire.
00:04:02Incidental.
00:04:04Is that the right word?
00:04:06He found me shallow.
00:04:08I gave him every reason to.
00:04:09I have regrets when it comes to death.
00:04:11Oh, sorry, yeah, uh, he's here.
00:04:22Ciao.
00:04:26Oh, hey.
00:04:28Is that on your lip, Yadette?
00:04:30Okay, we're gonna be using a new camera today.
00:04:32It's called an interrotron.
00:04:34I'll be sitting here, but you're gonna see my face in the camera.
00:04:37We will be like we're talking face to face.
00:04:40And, uh, we are shooting this in color and we're gonna anchor it to all the black and white tour
00:04:46footage.
00:04:46Okay?
00:04:48So, you were a stutterer as a child.
00:04:54Evening, Dan. Happy to be here.
00:04:56Could you state your name for the camera, please?
00:04:59I'm the front man, Lestat.
00:05:02The vampire Lestat.
00:05:04I'm immortal, more or less.
00:05:07The light of the sun, the sustained heat of an intense fire.
00:05:11Jefferson Starship.
00:05:13Grot-wielding coven members.
00:05:15These things might destroy me, but there again, they might not.
00:05:22The vampire Lestat.
00:05:25The vampire Lestat.
00:05:34I'm a little killer.
00:05:36I'm a lonely one.
00:05:39I'm a chick in the upper spine, telling you to run.
00:05:43I'm the general
00:05:45I'm the last line
00:05:47I'm the past and the future
00:05:48The last of the sutures
00:05:49The cool and dead
00:05:51Where the rock and roll is
00:05:52Where the content
00:05:55Where the heart of me
00:05:56Love and the face of the mud
00:05:57Where the stupid rain
00:06:00Bang, bang
00:06:02Bang, bang
00:06:03Bang, bang
00:06:04Bang, bang
00:06:06I'll fall down
00:06:09Burn the ground
00:06:13I'll fall down
00:06:17Burn down
00:06:19Bang down
00:06:21Bang down
00:06:23Bang, bang
00:06:25Bang, bang
00:06:26Bang, bang
00:06:28Well, that was shit
00:06:31You've said this thing to me
00:06:34A couple of times
00:06:35On the boss
00:06:36Backstage
00:06:37That the songs are your story
00:06:40Must be important if I repeat
00:06:41Or it's a doorstop
00:06:43Because you don't want to talk about yourself
00:06:44I'll kick that door down
00:06:47I'll bunker down with my cookies and trauma
00:06:49Exactly my thinking
00:06:51So let's run with this
00:06:52Let's dig into these songs
00:06:54And see what we get
00:06:55You have a song
00:06:56Longface
00:06:57The lyrics are
00:07:00Ooh, ooh, ooh, wah, ah
00:07:03Ooh, ooh, ooh, wah, ah
00:07:05What's the story behind that?
00:07:08Longface is an agreement between myself and the audience
00:07:10Permission disguised as anthem
00:07:13Oh, yeah, we're coming
00:07:14Yeah, yeah, we're coming
00:07:16Oh, yeah, I'm coming
00:07:28I'm an actor in my makeup
00:07:30I'll get fatter
00:07:31If and when we break up
00:07:34Performing a vampire
00:07:35And at the end
00:07:36They get the real thing
00:07:37Black licorice
00:07:38Structure and ritual
00:07:39Judged and drained
00:07:40Thrilled and shamed
00:07:41Left one anymore
00:07:42Well, that's great
00:07:42Because the band thinks
00:07:44That the song's about
00:07:45How the current culture
00:07:47Has misshapen the mortal mind
00:07:49And how easy and unsatisfying
00:07:51The bringing of death has become
00:07:53You must have experienced this, Dan
00:07:55The memories you take in as you kill
00:07:57Life is an endless cachet
00:07:59Of influencer videos
00:08:00Russian dashcams
00:08:01And shame-ridden pornography
00:08:04Or are we still pretending
00:08:05That you're human?
00:08:06So not about sucking dick
00:08:10Performative journalist
00:08:12Were you a stutterer as a child?
00:08:18Oh, he doesn't like that question
00:08:20Well, we can come back to it
00:08:23Let's talk about what happened
00:08:24In Detroit the other night
00:08:26Some vampires tried to kill you, yeah?
00:08:29Is it a question
00:08:30If you merely put yeah
00:08:31At the end of the sentence
00:08:31Pretty weak bunch
00:08:33But they seemed organized
00:08:35Which is different
00:08:37Than the other two attempts
00:08:38On your life during this tour
00:08:39Is this self-financed vanity romp
00:08:43Your vampire wishful
00:08:47Spin on hope I die
00:08:49Before I get old?
00:08:51Is my doc your eulogy?
00:08:53Did you promise him?
00:08:54I don't do promises
00:08:56I've had 40 shows
00:08:57In 43 fucking nights
00:08:59Nobody gives a fuck
00:09:01About what I was before
00:09:01No one cares
00:09:02No one seems to give a shit
00:09:03About you now
00:09:04Flatlining a thousand capacity venues
00:09:06Let's take a walk
00:09:07You're confused
00:09:08About the pursuit
00:09:09Then
00:09:09It is not
00:09:11About asses on seats
00:09:13Or streams on Pandora
00:09:15It is about
00:09:17Pure expression
00:09:20Raphael's
00:09:20Three graces
00:09:22Brankuski's bird in space
00:09:24Calvino's invisible
00:09:25Cities
00:09:33It's embarrassing
00:09:34It's embarrassing
00:09:35They stutter
00:09:37Stop the cameras
00:09:37No
00:09:38No
00:09:38Let them see
00:09:42Let them see
00:09:44I have had
00:09:4840 shows
00:09:52In 43 fucking nights
00:09:57No one cares
00:10:27I'm the vampire
00:10:28Louis de Pointe de Lac
00:10:30Undone by your relentless questionings
00:10:33Mr. Malloy
00:11:02Hello
00:11:04Make it a brief call
00:11:05To share an important message with you
00:11:07You got the wrong ad
00:11:08The wrong
00:11:15I'm looking for killer
00:11:18Don't
00:11:18Don't do that
00:11:19Just think it
00:11:20I'm a vampire
00:11:21Just like you
00:11:22Except
00:11:23I didn't disrespect my face
00:11:25Like you done
00:11:27What is that?
00:11:29Is that
00:11:29Jar Jar Binks
00:11:30Dunking a basketball
00:11:32Binks
00:11:32Inks
00:11:33Where's killer?
00:11:35Where's killer?
00:11:41Where's killer?
00:11:42Well I got a little baby
00:11:44But you lose upon her lip
00:11:46Mr. Wester
00:11:47You pick another possum?
00:11:49Mr. Wester
00:11:51Well I got a little baby
00:11:52But you lose upon her lip
00:11:55What?
00:11:55I'm looking for killer
00:11:57Cannot kill him
00:11:58He's got a little baby
00:11:59But it's fast and slowly trips
00:12:01Anybody see killer?
00:12:06Kill her
00:12:08Someone's here we got someone
00:12:09Let's go
00:12:13Kill her
00:12:38Out the door
00:12:43Through the fields
00:12:47Keep straight five minutes
00:12:49There's a car
00:12:50Great dog
00:12:52Don't go back
00:12:56Eight wolves
00:12:58By yourself
00:13:00Everyone always repeats the number
00:13:02When I say it
00:13:04I had a pistol
00:13:05A rifle
00:13:06A dagger
00:13:07A mastiff
00:13:09The stuttering wolf killer
00:13:11Well that was the first name for our band
00:13:14Hello Fort Collins
00:13:14We are the stuttering wolf killers
00:13:16Are you ready to rock?
00:13:18From the ages of nine to twenty-nine
00:13:21You stuttered
00:13:22I stuttered
00:13:24Yes
00:13:25And every kill I have made
00:13:27Is a response
00:13:27My entire psyche
00:13:28Is formed from the deformity
00:13:30It's like being strapped down
00:13:32In a dentist's chair
00:13:32Opening your mouth wide
00:13:33Only to have the dentist say
00:13:35I'm not a dentist
00:13:36As he lubes up a thick rubber glove
00:13:37So you be gentle
00:13:39Dan
00:13:42I think he's just bored by you
00:13:44Try asking him about the great conversion
00:13:48What happened at age nine?
00:13:51Hmm
00:13:54I was taken to see witches being burned at a stake
00:13:58Okay
00:13:59Tell me about that
00:14:03Marguerite Deray
00:14:04Jeanne Baudin
00:14:06The twins
00:14:07Marthe
00:14:08And Aimée Roulay
00:14:09Sees their prayers
00:14:10And adored the devil in ceremony
00:14:12Said the torch-bearing priests
00:14:14You remember their names
00:14:17Teenage girls with the resonant voices of men
00:14:20Screaming
00:14:21And thrashing for hours
00:14:22Till their jawbones fell
00:14:23And the devil could sing no more
00:14:25And you were nine
00:14:28Oh
00:14:28That's what moms did with kids
00:14:30Before Lego and Peppa Pig
00:14:33Looking back on it now
00:14:34They were definitely witches
00:14:36The twins
00:14:36That is Marguerite Deray
00:14:38Probably caught masturbating in a field with a few sick oxen
00:14:41Two for four
00:14:42It's not bad
00:14:43Considering it was a priestly-led sentence
00:14:45What happened at 29?
00:14:49Hmm
00:14:55I heard music
00:14:57So you made it to Paris
00:15:03Eyes closed
00:15:04Mouth distorted
00:15:07What struck my heart
00:15:09What struck my heart was the way that his whole body leaned into the music
00:15:13Had I the ear I have now I would have found a pedestrian
00:15:16But I was an ape from Auvergne
00:15:19And it sounded like a god machine
00:15:21Played by an angel
00:15:23Ah, merde
00:15:26Take us to a censor room next
00:15:28I won't miss
00:15:29Oh, it must be our Mozart rising over all the disturb your peace, madame, kindly
00:15:33Piss off
00:15:34This is Nicky who you sing about in your song
00:15:38Why do I have to feel
00:15:44Nicolas Delenfant
00:15:47My first love
00:15:49Tell me to piss off again
00:15:51I am finished, madame
00:15:53I am finished
00:16:02Nicolas Delenfant
00:16:06I am finished
00:16:06Let's not
00:16:08The Lyoncourt
00:16:10No
00:16:11No
00:16:12The Valois
00:16:15Turn on your title
00:16:17Wearing pantaloons
00:16:22Trying to fit in
00:16:24You know what a flying cloak, eh?
00:16:27Good luck with that
00:16:31What are you doing in Paris?
00:16:36Eight walls. Impossible.
00:16:41Stuck the heads in the square and the children play hide the heads with them.
00:16:45Sounds like our village.
00:16:52It's my father's stitching.
00:16:55He gave it to me before I left.
00:16:57And your address on the Rue de Mont-Mauron.
00:17:00Mont-Mauron, si.
00:17:03I haven't lived there for six months.
00:17:06My father's allowance barely covers the cost of my music instruction.
00:17:10Much less rent, food, and the bribes to keep me out of the National Guard.
00:17:25Liberty, equality, fraternity.
00:17:29Pity is a treasure.
00:17:37You play beautifully.
00:17:44I play like a tailor's son.
00:17:54Did he say anything else?
00:17:57My dad.
00:18:03He said, um, tell him I love him and that I'm proud of him.
00:18:19What did he really say?
00:18:22He said, help him, help him to be a man.
00:18:26But he said it without the stun-mo.
00:18:28Hmm.
00:18:29Hmm.
00:18:33Hmm.
00:18:34Are you gonna teach me to be a man?
00:18:36Stand about one.
00:18:39Hmm.
00:18:42It goes where you think it goes.
00:18:44All the old tropes and trapes of tortured and forbidden love, blah, blah, blah, bipolar,
00:18:48blah, blah, blah.
00:18:49Fast forward.
00:18:52Stop.
00:18:53Vape.
00:18:54Check your phone.
00:18:56First play.
00:18:57Oh, good.
00:18:57Now he's a vampire.
00:18:58But you're not a vampire.
00:19:00You're the stuttering ape of O'Vern.
00:19:06Any Quebecers here?
00:19:07Tongue twisters.
00:19:08Vocal exercises.
00:19:09Repeated every day for two years while I washed the floors and, uh, empty chamber pots,
00:19:14Echa Nod's Theatre.
00:19:15A job I got through Nicky who worked in the pit there, so.
00:19:18Go pull up the, uh, song for him that, uh, Why Do I Have to Feel.
00:19:24Oh, I love that song.
00:19:25So, the stuttering, you just bullied it out of yourself.
00:19:28Yeah, Nicky got me the job that cured my affliction.
00:19:31It was, uh, first love.
00:19:33Not a great love.
00:19:39Buried yourself in the ground for a century over a not great love.
00:19:43Only thing you carry with you to New Orleans is a music box reminder of a not great love.
00:19:49I carried the box because I destroyed him, Dan.
00:19:52I carried the box to remind me what I was capable of.
00:19:56You perform her song.
00:20:08Do we have one of those songs?
00:20:09Can someone do something about this?
00:20:11It's quite on set!
00:20:36So you perform a song every night by your abuser
00:20:41Biggest fan
00:20:42Abuser
00:20:44Go pull up the song for me
00:20:46Liberator, Emancipator
00:20:48He says, I want to give you everything I've got
00:20:52I know you're stubborn, but you have to ask for it
00:20:55Did Magnus ask your permission before transforming you into a vampire?
00:21:01I see it as an unbroken chain of similar songs in pop music
00:21:06Herman Herman's laying on a lamppost
00:21:08Every Breath You Take by the Police, I love that one
00:21:11Eminem Stan
00:21:12According to Louis, his name was Magnus
00:21:15He took me from my room in Paris as I kicked and screamed
00:21:20Locked me in a room for a week with corpses
00:21:23They all look like me
00:21:25I mean, does that even sound like me, Dan?
00:21:27My coloring, my physique
00:21:28Where's the artful turn of phrase? Where's the assonance?
00:21:31He fed on me for a week
00:21:33I thought for sure I'd become one of them
00:21:35But instead, he turned me into this
00:21:41Louis was not there when Magnus abducted me
00:21:44But he was there in New Orleans when you recounted it
00:21:47And I was not there in Dubai to correct his faulty recall
00:21:52Yeah
00:21:55You really caught my eye
00:21:59I think you're something special, babe
00:22:03I wanna take you out tonight
00:22:08I think we got real potential, babe
00:22:12I got a bottle of wine
00:22:17And yeah, that's me at your window, babe
00:22:21We're gonna have such a goddamn good time
00:22:25I wanna be your crescendo, babe
00:22:29Don't let me catch you crying
00:22:33Don't tell me the spell is breaking
00:22:38You're so perfect in that raging light
00:22:41I know I'm hard to look at sometimes
00:22:45But I'm here for the taking
00:22:48I wanna give you everything I got
00:22:52I know you're starting to do after
00:22:56I can tell you everything I'm not
00:23:01Yeah, I'm a dog and you're my brave little wolf killer
00:23:09Yeah, I'm a dog and you're my brave little wolf killer
00:23:20I understood my maker
00:23:23If I had seen 19 straight performances of my Lilio
00:23:26I would have abandoned all decorum, too
00:23:29Abandoned decorum?
00:23:30He made you a monster and killed himself in front of you
00:23:36I was an actor at a second-tier theater
00:23:39Squatting in a beheaded nobleman's flat with a severely depressed...
00:23:42Are you still bordering my beauty?
00:23:45How was the kielbasa crafty?
00:23:48And as for the suicide, it gave me a lightness that I would not have known
00:23:52Had he looted the centuries beside me
00:23:54I see the burden written on your face, Stan
00:23:58When I say God and you say monster
00:24:02Is it your absent but very much alive father walking around that gives you this lowly idea of yourself?
00:24:08Son of Armand
00:24:10Who needs another victim song?
00:24:14Exactly
00:24:15Very rock and roll
00:24:16Still, it must have been hard keeping that from Nicky
00:24:21Armand got that part right in my book
00:24:24He confronted you on the street, abducted Nicky, fed him to his coven
00:24:28And yet, you hid your vampirism from him
00:24:32Yeah?
00:24:33Question mark
00:24:35You're safe
00:24:36You are now Rumi in Paris
00:24:39What am I weak?
00:24:41Delirium took you
00:24:43I've been your nurse, mate
00:24:45You've been to our company
00:24:53A rash
00:24:54The batting is typhoid
00:24:56Also the doctor you slept through
00:24:58Our favorite game
00:25:00You lie
00:25:02And I believe you
00:25:03I'm not lying
00:25:04A bicycle!
00:25:06Gone out of the window
00:25:08I saw nothing unnatural happened
00:25:10You returned
00:25:11Wearing silk bitches
00:25:14I told you it's for a patient
00:25:15Lies on lies on lies
00:25:17Sudden vanishings
00:25:18Your change dies
00:25:23Oh, and your mother
00:25:26I wish she alive
00:25:28I brought her to Roca Madreau
00:25:30For a cure
00:25:31A black madonna blaster
00:25:34Your...
00:25:35What?
00:25:36Your mother?
00:25:40The vampire Gabriella
00:25:42Blood on her lips more alive!
00:25:46How?
00:25:47What?
00:25:49She...
00:25:49Followed me to Paris
00:25:52Her body was ready to die
00:25:54But her mind was not
00:25:56My first fledgling
00:26:00Louie must have told you
00:26:01No!
00:26:02Hmm
00:26:02I thought it was discretion
00:26:04That kept her out of your book
00:26:06Hmm
00:26:07My love was a small box
00:26:08That I kept him in
00:26:09No room for the many hours
00:26:11I talked of her, I guess
00:26:13And...
00:26:14She...
00:26:15Where is she now?
00:26:15She's here right now
00:26:22Right...
00:26:24Here
00:26:29She died
00:26:32Vampire toddlerdom
00:26:33Always the hardest years
00:26:35As you know
00:26:35Or don't know, Dan
00:26:38Hmm
00:26:44What do you think about the great conversion?
00:26:46Oh
00:26:48The vampire thing
00:26:50Vampire is taking over the world
00:26:52Collaborating
00:26:53Hmm?
00:26:55Fucking stupid
00:26:56Can you get out of my eye line?
00:27:03Yeah
00:27:04Yeah
00:27:07Three flights up
00:27:10Your bones would be pieces
00:27:12What are you?
00:27:13What is she?
00:27:15Traversa stufata
00:27:16Mother
00:27:17Outside the theater
00:27:18The ragged man calling wolf killer
00:27:21Blackened passages
00:27:22And dog-tooth fiends
00:27:24I'm waiting
00:27:25You are gibberish
00:27:27I want to know you in this change form
00:27:29Don't look to her
00:27:31Don't look to her
00:27:31Roger has bought you a house on the quay
00:27:34I have opened a bank account in your name
00:27:35I could move to her there
00:27:37I could move to her there and then sell cloth
00:27:38Don't bite me out
00:27:39Don't bite me out
00:27:39No, please
00:27:42Speaks my thoughts before I speak them
00:27:46You gave this witchery to her
00:27:50She was an hour from death
00:27:52Finally
00:27:55Admit it
00:27:59Do you want me to murder her?
00:28:01I want you to love me enough to give it to me
00:28:16You cannot do it
00:28:19You mustn't do it
00:28:29I've driven him mad
00:28:33I know I'll leave him to this madness
00:28:35You have used up your affection for him
00:28:38You know you have
00:28:40Don't bring him into eternity
00:28:49Disaster, my son
00:28:50His playing has greatly improved
00:28:56I cannot hear the actors over his improvement
00:28:59Well, I prefer his music to Gustav's acting
00:29:02Well, you can return to the role
00:29:05Anytime you wish
00:29:06And have your cumbersome words in my mouth again?
00:29:09No, thank you
00:29:13There are blood drinkers in Italy
00:29:16Excuse me?
00:29:18There are covens like this one in Roma, Venezia, Salerno
00:29:23Does Nicola know about us?
00:29:25Us?
00:29:27What is us?
00:29:28Do you think you're the only one in the company he drinks from?
00:29:31Do you think I am the only one with disdain for his fledgling?
00:29:34Take him aside
00:29:36You're the active manager
00:29:37Manage
00:29:38You're his maker
00:29:39Make him
00:29:40Is there an evil older than you?
00:29:44Your maker, Marius
00:29:45My maker is dead
00:29:46I've told you that already
00:29:48Just check
00:29:50I will give you the theatre of the vampires
00:29:54I'll give you the theatre of the vampires
00:29:55The greatest spectacle of the boulevard
00:30:05He was Jamaican as a mortal
00:30:08You'll find his way.
00:30:09No, he won't.
00:30:10I believe you.
00:30:12I love you, Lestana.
00:30:14Christ.
00:30:17There's not room enough in this box for your desperation.
00:30:25Has anyone seen the letter opener?
00:30:26You don't need a letter opener, Nicky.
00:30:27We don't get any letters.
00:30:28You want to talk about your recent work in the theater, Nicolas?
00:30:31He's not in the chamber, but I left it there a week ago.
00:30:33You don't like my music, Metro.
00:30:35Well, it's not me.
00:30:37It's my hands, but I don't have my letter opener.
00:30:39I think the music will improve once I find the letter opener.
00:30:44We think you should take some time away from the theater, Nicky.
00:30:52Did you two decide this in the wings?
00:30:55Huh?
00:30:55Or the box?
00:30:56The Place Dauphine?
00:30:58Last Sunday?
00:30:59The Hotel de Ville?
00:31:01And the Feast of Assumption?
00:31:02And the Night Doctor?
00:31:03Don't stop!
00:31:04Look at me!
00:31:05Look at me!
00:31:05Shit!
00:31:08I left it here!
00:31:09I left it here!
00:31:10Yes, I warned.
00:31:11His mind is curable.
00:31:12Two years ago, when you opened up a letter from your mother.
00:31:13How dare you open up my letter, he pouted and shouted?
00:31:17I was trying to make the opener happy.
00:31:20I was trying to give it purpose.
00:31:24Here it is.
00:31:36I was trying to give it to you.
00:31:53I was trying to give it to you.
00:31:55Thank you ever so much.
00:31:56Stop, Nicky!
00:31:57No!
00:32:05It's all a misunderstanding, my love.
00:32:08I wish to serve the god of the dark wood like the rest.
00:32:12Forgive me.
00:32:13My hands are much older than the rest of me.
00:32:19Forgive me.
00:32:22I...
00:32:29Gabriela went to Coffin,
00:32:32leaving us,
00:32:34and Armand.
00:32:39I told Nicky that I loved him.
00:32:44From the first seconds I saw him in Paris.
00:32:50That I was drunk with his love.
00:32:56I was engulfed by it.
00:32:59Your maker would tell you I was being kind, but...
00:33:05In the moment,
00:33:08the words were true.
00:33:14I think...
00:33:22I remember the light.
00:33:27Fireplace.
00:33:30Reflecting golden onto his face.
00:33:35And his...
00:33:37bare arms.
00:33:43But I would not look at the world.
00:33:46I could not.
00:33:54I, um...
00:33:57I couldn't do it.
00:34:02But I watched.
00:34:10As Armand...
00:34:12pushed him into the fire.
00:34:15And made sure he stayed there.
00:34:19With a poker in his chest.
00:34:29Nicky had a bemused look on his face as he burned.
00:34:34And his mouth...
00:34:38formed into a...
00:34:43circle.
00:34:46And he made only one sound.
00:35:11As though he knew...
00:35:14that in death...
00:35:17it was enough...
00:35:18nothing...
00:35:26I'm hungry.
00:35:28I'm hungry!
00:35:29Can we get something that...
00:35:31Yeah, okay, we're cutting.
00:35:32We tried booking something called the Ryan Center in Kingston, Rhode Island.
00:35:368,000 seats.
00:35:37I thought this deep in we'd be able to fill it.
00:35:40We sold 2,500 including a papering service.
00:35:44Unlike your last vampire,
00:35:46there are no delusions here.
00:35:51Arduous.
00:35:53It's tour...
00:35:56my ego.
00:35:58And still...
00:35:59it's not what I hunt.
00:36:02Never say I didn't give you anything.
00:36:04Keys.
00:36:06Let Larry run it!
00:36:10How is Czech me?
00:36:12Like...
00:36:12fun for three minutes,
00:36:14then you're longing for Prague.
00:36:16Prague is that way.
00:36:17You can dig yourself a hole in cork
00:36:19and be buried in a matya the night after.
00:36:21Provoked.
00:36:23Bored.
00:36:23Ah, you'll run fewer reds that way.
00:36:26There's a shameful tiki bar...
00:36:28in a Parkdale.
00:36:30Rain check, Sofia.
00:36:42Well...
00:36:43that took forever.
00:36:45Right?
00:36:47Uh, run it back.
00:36:49Uh, about...
00:36:50I don't know.
00:36:50Four minutes.
00:36:52Been trying to crack those cheeks for two months.
00:36:56Vampires.
00:36:57They're weird just like you.
00:37:00Okay.
00:37:01Let's see what we've got here.
00:37:08What the hell?
00:37:10Go... go back a few more minutes.
00:37:11Please.
00:37:13Stop.
00:37:15Wait a second.
00:37:17What am I looking at here?
00:37:19Did you go back far enough?
00:37:21Alright, let's... let's keep going back.
00:37:24Yeah, right about there.
00:37:25Stop.
00:37:26Can you get out of my eye line?
00:37:30Yeah...
00:37:31What?
00:37:34What the...
00:37:35Where's the part where he talks about transforming Nicky?
00:37:41They...
00:37:41What?
00:37:42What?
00:37:43He just... he just...
00:37:45just sat there like a fucking blow-up doll
00:37:47and no one said anything?
00:37:48Nothing?
00:37:49You gotta be fucking kidding me.
00:37:51What is this?
00:37:52No, yeah, it was frickin' weirdsville
00:37:54to you to sat there for like half an hour, eh?
00:37:59He was crying fucking blood tears!
00:38:02Did no one see that?
00:38:03A mean-spirited telepathic prank.
00:38:06The price paid for amusing my muses.
00:38:09It brought poor Dan to his knees
00:38:11and seeded a hate for me inside him,
00:38:14there to be warded in the sunlight later.
00:38:17But what can I say?
00:38:19Serving cunt has its consequences.
00:38:25You are listening to The Failures.
00:38:28Album 28.
00:38:29Side B.
00:38:32You gonna carry me into the threshold?
00:38:34Yes, ma'am.
00:38:36Mm-hmm.
00:38:43Come here.
00:38:45I got you, man.
00:38:49You gonna make me a mom in the night?
00:38:51I don't think it works like that for us no more,
00:38:53but we can give it a try.
00:38:57We're home!
00:39:05It's all these people so shallow.
00:39:08You're trying to get back to my good stuff.
00:39:12Come on.
00:39:13I got you in the back.
00:39:18That don't happen.
00:39:30Surprise!
00:39:34Congrats on the happy day.
00:39:36I couldn't make it to the ceremony.
00:39:37I hope you don't mind me inviting myself to the honeymoon.
00:39:40You make that mess upstairs, friend?
00:39:43I did.
00:39:47Where's the food?
00:39:50I'll call him an Uber.
00:39:59What the fuck are you doing to my husband?
00:40:08Amaya told the truth?
00:40:10Want to tell me what that is?
00:40:11Oh, shit!
00:40:14This is-
00:40:14Okay.
00:40:16This is about the fucking little stat shit.
00:40:19Okay.
00:40:21Yeah, that-
00:40:22That wasn't my fault.
00:40:24I had these Gen Z fledglings,
00:40:26these righteous fuckers
00:40:28who thinks we ought to be in the sewers and shit.
00:40:30He's my baby Jenks, his baby-
00:40:32Shut up, Bruce.
00:40:34You call me Bruce?
00:40:37Because my name is Killer.
00:40:55You and I have a friend in common.
00:41:00More wine.
00:41:04Cold tea they call it here, I have.
00:41:08Mmm.
00:41:10Apples with a hint of...
00:41:13cowardice.
00:41:15Still in rags?
00:41:17Is this better?
00:41:23Same face, same smell.
00:41:25No hope for you, Father Megs.
00:41:27Oh.
00:41:28Not exactly forthcoming with the vampire journalists.
00:41:32Left out a few prickly details.
00:41:37Uh-oh.
00:41:39You forgot to put your blinkers on.
00:41:47Bruce walked back from the fire,
00:41:50leaned down over me,
00:41:52and for a second I thought I was gonna' go right there,
00:41:55but no.
00:41:57He plunked me onto his motorbike,
00:41:59Got my hand.
00:42:00and switched into his friendly self.
00:42:03The Lord's right hand is downtown.
00:42:05The Lord's right hand has Breeze.
00:42:06Trunk of salvation.
00:42:07Trunk of joy in victory,
00:42:09resound from the sense of right.
00:42:10The Lord's right hand is many names.
00:42:14The Lord's right hand is the dead.
00:42:21BACK IN SIGHT!
00:42:24You got your song.
00:42:28When we got to his house...
00:42:30I guess my biggest question is, why are you checking me down now when we all read your little page
00:42:36turner?
00:42:37And it's all gone dumb in my mind too.
00:42:40Crossed out.
00:42:42New sentence.
00:42:43You tipped over the collywobble shelf and took the cloth off the long table.
00:42:48We eat your soul.
00:42:51At the long table.
00:42:53Sixty-eight courses so far.
00:42:56We keep waiting for the bill, but the plates keep coming.
00:43:00And we keep asking ourselves, when's he going to make an album?
00:43:05When we are ready!
00:43:09She entertains a lot of little French folks with her death.
00:43:14I don't do nothing that bad to her, Daddy Lou.
00:43:19Guess I don't have to tell you, dear diary, what it's like to have a person crack your spine, open
00:43:25you up and shove a pencil inside you.
00:43:28Very odd company at the long table.
00:43:32A hand.
00:43:34A finger.
00:43:36A drum.
00:43:39A pimp.
00:43:40A dad you've won, ready for the last lapse.
00:43:47I love, but you have to do nothing by reason.
00:43:50A hand.
00:43:55You have to step back all 자기 out.
00:43:58For your almighty's pride.
00:44:08A hand.
00:44:10Stuffed, full, too wet feeling down there.
00:44:17Like I was packed with dirt.
00:44:21And I hope one day he feels this.
00:44:27Small and cornered and crushed like a can.
00:44:34But then there were the parts where he brought home kills.
00:44:39And I sat with him and ate.
00:44:44I just said what he wanted to hear.
00:44:52Ask for it, child.
00:44:55And it ain't easy to like myself because of it.
00:44:59All the light's gone out of your blue eyes.
00:45:02I even once felt a twinge of something nice.
00:45:06As if all the summer days are gone.
00:45:10No!
00:45:10And not the worst thing ever.
00:45:13No!
00:45:15No!
00:45:20He let me go because I seemed small.
00:45:24And it looked like he'd won.
00:45:26And he did win.
00:45:29Because I want nothing.
00:45:33To be nothing.
00:45:36And say nothing.
00:45:39And do nothing.
00:45:43You know the stupidest of all, dear diary?
00:45:46I thought I was the thing lurking in the shadows.
00:45:51I thought I was.
00:45:52To be what I should kiss him.
00:46:02That's it.
00:46:08That's it.
00:46:09Def.
00:46:10Def.
00:46:14Def.
00:46:15Def.
00:46:17That's it.
00:46:19Def.
00:46:19Def.
00:46:20Def.
00:46:26I imagine you're naked in your gold, gilded bed, wondering why it didn't end on the highway.
00:46:33How I got on stage the following night to another feverishly modest audience.
00:46:39I couldn't pretend anymore that we were a ticketmaster must-have, or that I wasn't having
00:46:44a nervous breakdown, or that psychosis wasn't the exhilarating, horrifying by-product of romping
00:46:50and stomping around the hippocampus.
00:46:52But here's the thing.
00:46:55I loved the music.
00:46:57I loved it.
00:46:58It was compelling me forward, pulling me through the perennial walls of my psyche, and I thought,
00:47:05why not ride it to blindness?
00:47:07Because it seemed possible.
00:47:09This was the muddy bottom, and on the other side, a marble floor, polished to the horizon.
00:47:16Music in its purest expression would make me worse, and then make me better.
00:47:24Bring on the music.
00:47:26You can't fuck away, the loneliness, it'll wait till you're done, till you come.
00:47:39Like a vampire, you can't drink away, the loneliness, it'll wait till the next day, like a headache.
00:47:57Sucking you dry, you can't escape this loneliness.
00:48:05Sucking you dry, you can't escape this loneliness, it'll say, what a mess.
00:48:11How will anybody ever love you?
00:48:21Don't hide it all, don't bury those feelings.
00:48:34Don't bury that blood on your own.
00:48:42Don't burn...
00:48:47Oh...
00:48:50Oh...
00:48:51Oh...
00:48:55Oh...
00:48:57Save.
00:48:57Safe.
00:49:00Safe.
00:49:01Nearly home.
00:49:03You get what you wanted out there.
00:49:06Yeah.
00:49:08Yeah.
00:49:27Well, the loneliness, love will fade, and you stay, and you stay, and you stay, and you stay, with resemblance,
00:49:44you can't escape this loneliness, it'll break, it'll press, how could anybody ever do?
00:50:27Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.
00:50:27Oh, oh, oh
00:50:29Oh, oh, oh, oh
00:50:31Hi, you okay?
00:50:33I'm gonna get you anything else.
00:50:34I'm good, thank you.
00:50:36Regina.
00:50:53Oh, my God!
00:51:09Perfection.
00:51:15So they're about there, killing it, every night.
00:51:20And I'm following them, you know, on my phone, refresh, refresh, refresh.
00:51:27They're blowing up.
00:51:30You're going to hear about them soon, if you haven't already.
00:51:35I'm stuck here in Monroe, Ohio, of all places.
00:51:41You know, no offense.
00:51:45And God, I just want to drink.
00:51:48I feel sorry for myself.
00:51:53Yeah, thank you for giving me another way through.
00:51:56Thank you. Thank you for sharing.
00:52:05So, who else wants to share tonight, hmm?
00:52:11Come on, guys.
00:52:12I will.
00:52:15I'll share.
00:52:18Um...
00:52:19Hello.
00:52:21My name is...
00:52:24Arun.
00:52:26Hi Arun.
00:52:28Hello Arun.
00:52:30And...
00:52:32I am an addict.
00:52:40Listen to tracks from the Vampire Lestat wherever you stream music.
00:52:47I am the toxic bitch godless dog.
00:52:53Oh, now you filthy little plastic bees.
00:53:00Hi, what can I get you?
00:53:02The star is going to get us all killed.
00:53:04I've got five more shows.
00:53:06I'm getting bored.
00:53:08Shall we do it?
00:53:09Shall we scorch the mortal world?
00:53:16The stuttering wolf killer.
00:53:19The vampire Lestat.
00:53:20Evening then.
00:53:21Happy to be here.
00:53:23You really caught my eye.
00:53:26Molloy is a deft investigator, but he's never investigated anybody like this before.
00:53:32And that's going to become really clear in this episode.
00:53:34Were you a stutterer as a child?
00:53:36It's a really wild interview scene.
00:53:38I mean, there's like 300 things happening at one time.
00:53:41You perform a song every night by your abuser, Magnus.
00:53:46Biggest fan.
00:53:48Abuser.
00:53:57You see the music video of how Lestat wants to portray his transformation and he's like,
00:54:04I'm going to write you my, you know, sweet little Taylor Swift pop ballad song.
00:54:10Make a fool out of my maker.
00:54:17He wants to think about it as like, he was my fan and he made me.
00:54:21But of course the truth within that episode asserts itself.
00:54:30We cast Damien Atkins as Magnus.
00:54:32He's a terrifying, vulnerable creature.
00:54:36And the transformation that he inflicts upon Lestat is incredibly violent.
00:54:43Ready and action.
00:54:46We were trying to really make it as brutal as we possibly could.
00:54:50So that had a real contrast to his kind of gilded music video version that he wanted to show.
00:55:00And then Damien's got this incredible like neck blood pump, you know,
00:55:05that I'm getting rained on beneath and blood going into my eyes.
00:55:10And we tried to make it as gruesome as possible and really show that it was an actual assault.
00:55:15And that is something that Lestat like completely carries through his life as his transformation was full on kidnapping assault.
00:55:25He's got to reconcile that on a daily basis.
00:55:33And what happened at 29?
00:55:37Nicolas de l'enfant.
00:55:39My first love.
00:55:41Don't bring him into eternity.
00:55:49Disaster, my son.
00:55:51Gabriela cannot bear Nikki.
00:55:53I think she really is being honest and I think she's absolutely right.
00:55:56She knows that Lestat doesn't really want to spend eternity with Nikki.
00:56:00Does Nicolas know about us?
00:56:02Us?
00:56:04What is us?
00:56:05This is one of those scenes that I was really interested to see how they were going to revisit the
00:56:11theatre.
00:56:11Je t'aime.
00:56:12Je t'aime aussi.
00:56:14This is basically a revisit of Armand's story to Daniel in episode three of season two.
00:56:22But now it's through Lestat's eyes, which arguably is maybe the more truthful version.
00:56:27I love you, Lestat.
00:56:29Christ.
00:56:30And there's also the dynamic of Gabriela.
00:56:33Oh, she doesn't like Armand.
00:56:34Do you think you're the only one in the company he drinks from?
00:56:38Do you think I am the only one with disdain for his fledgling?
00:56:41I think Armand is like the consummate third wheel in every situation.
00:56:44Louis and Lestat, Armand.
00:56:46Gabriela and Lestat, Armand.
00:56:48And Armand's jealousy really shows.
00:56:54He knew that Nikki couldn't withstand what it takes to live this life.
00:57:00He was already unstable before he became a vampire.
00:57:02And Armand has seen vampires succumb to the madness.
00:57:06So he's not surprised when it finally turns.
00:57:11I couldn't do it.
00:57:13But I watched as Armand pushed him into the fire.
00:57:18And made sure he stayed there.
00:57:23Malloy thinks he strikes gold.
00:57:26As it turns out, that's an illusion.
00:57:30What am I looking at here?
00:57:31What is this?
00:57:33No, yeah, it was frickin' Weirdsville to you to sat there for like half an hour, eh?
00:57:37It is a mean-spirited prank in the fact that Malloy didn't get it on camera.
00:57:41But he is talking truth to Malloy when he gives him his telepathic story about what happened there.
00:57:47It's more of a shared experience between the two of them.
00:57:49The anger is deep.
00:57:51To some degree, Lestat is bullying Daniel.
00:57:54And I don't respond well to bullying.
00:57:56And I will push back hard.
00:57:59We would like you to take care of our problem in Detroit, Mr. Du Lac.
00:58:05The coven leader's name is Bruce.
00:58:08I believe your Claudia spent a few nights with him once.
00:58:12At the end of episode two, Raglan James tempts Louis with this getting revenge on the guy who hurt Claudia.
00:58:20And Louis has a big hole in his heart.
00:58:24And he feels like doing this will fill it.
00:58:27Making a brief call to share an important message with you.
00:58:29You got the wrong address.
00:58:31The wrong address.
00:58:32That first section when he's trying to get to Bruce.
00:58:35He's doing his job.
00:58:36What?
00:58:37I'm looking for killer.
00:58:39You're not killer.
00:58:40Bester!
00:58:41Okay.
00:58:41He's become so adept at doing this.
00:58:44He's very efficient.
00:58:45And also, he's held himself back a lot from having that kind of killer instinct.
00:58:51So then when it comes out, it, like, it explodes.
00:58:56The thing that I actually found creepiest about that set was the bathtubs and the people lying in there, fully
00:59:02clothed.
00:59:04And I was talking to one of the people that was in the bathtub.
00:59:07I was like, is that cold or is that warm?
00:59:09And they were like, it's, it's warm.
00:59:12I was like, okay.
00:59:12So it's like a bath.
00:59:13It's still horrible.
00:59:16No!
00:59:18He wanted Bruce to understand on some level, a degree of the pain and of the suffering that he put
00:59:25Claudia under.
00:59:27You and I have a friend in common.
00:59:31I personally had a kind of complicated relationship with Louis reading Claudia's diary entry because I sort of felt like
00:59:39that's not really his place.
00:59:41But I think Louis thinks that he's speaking on her behalf.
00:59:44And it looked like he'd won.
00:59:46And he did win.
00:59:47Because I want nothing to be nothing.
00:59:54It's just important that before he dies, he can hear it for himself, the hell that he created.
01:00:00And then it's done.
01:00:14I think one of the most poignant moments of this season up to this point is the museum in that
01:00:20diner.
01:00:20I think he realizes almost immediately that it can't bring her back.
01:00:25It can't undo the pain.
01:00:28Kai, you okay?
01:00:29How can I get you anything else?
01:00:30I'm good.
01:00:31Thank you, Regina.
01:00:33Thank you, Regina.
