00:00Since Labor came to government, we have more than doubled support for new parents.
00:05And from the 1st of July this year, we'll see new parents getting a full six months of paid parental
00:12leave.
00:12They'll get more than $1,000 a week.
00:15Parents will be able to take more time off together and more people will be eligible because the eligibility thresholds
00:22will also increase.
00:24And before Labor introduced paid parental leave, Australia was one of the very few developed countries in the world that
00:31didn't have a paid parental leave scheme.
00:34I'm proud of the fact I was there in 2010 when we did that work in the Rudd-Gillard years.
00:40And I'm proud of the fact that now, under the Albanese Labor government, we have more than doubled support for
00:48new parents.
