00:03Hey everyone! You're watching InStudio and look who we have. We have Tati Gabrielle in the building.
00:11Season 2 is out of Children Adventures of Sabrina. How does it feel?
00:15It's pretty exciting. We've all been waiting for this to happen because we shot the first two seasons together.
00:22So we know everything that happens and fans have been like, what's going on?
00:27We want to know this, this and that. It's been so hard to keep whoops sealed.
00:30So it's cool that everybody gets to see it.
00:32It's like a relief that now everyone has no more secrets.
00:34Exactly.
00:35Now first, before joining the project, what kind of drew you to this and what kind of stood out about
00:40Prudence?
00:41So I have never really played a villainous or antagonistic character before.
00:46One of my favorite characters, by the way.
00:47Thank you! Thank you so, so much!
00:49But yeah, this was my first time in that sort of experience.
00:55And so when I got the character and I read her, I was like, oh, this is, this is going
00:59to be wicked.
01:00And I get to be a witch. This is awesome.
01:01And my personality is very bubbly. I'm a very happy person.
01:05So I thought it would be fun to like challenge myself and step out of the box, become someone that's
01:11completely outside of who I would ever be.
01:14So yeah, it was, the draw was just like, okay, this is, this is a big actor challenge for me
01:20and something to help me grow.
01:22Now as an actor, when did you realize you wanted to become an actor and this is a path you
01:25wanted to pursue?
01:27So like, I didn't really develop a full passion for it until I hit about 10th grade.
01:32Prior to that, I think it was more of a hobby and something fun that I liked to do.
01:37Since I was a kid, I always, okay, so my mom used to say that I would like sit in
01:42a little grocery store basket.
01:43Okay.
01:44And like blankly stare at people.
01:46Like that.
01:47Like that.
01:48That was good, that was good.
01:50So yeah, she did, she thought that I would like study them.
01:53Yeah.
01:53And like, I've always, yeah, like I've always just been fascinated by people and they're like tics and quirks and
02:01how no two people are ever alike.
02:02Um, and so I liked to, I don't know, it was.
02:05It started in the grocery store.
02:06It started in the grocery store.
02:08And I was a big fan of psychology.
02:10I wanted to be a FBI criminal profiler.
02:12Oh my gosh.
02:12If I didn't become an actor, um, to just pick the minds of those people.
02:16Yeah.
02:16Now talking to you, one thing I noticed, obviously your accent is very different than Prudence.
02:21What were the early conversations about kind of how Prudence was, kind of how she presented herself to the world?
02:26Well, I came to the audition with the accent.
02:29Okay.
02:29So you had it in mind.
02:30Yeah.
02:31Um, I just pictured her being this like, you know, prim, like, uh, like proper private school girl.
02:39Um, and that was the voice that came.
02:41And when I, uh, yeah, they never, they never told me any different.
02:45Yeah.
02:46Um, and then when I had the conversation with Roberto about like, you know, what's her life been like?
02:51What, um, I came to him with like a bazillion questions.
02:54And he was like, lady, I love that you have all of this, but there's some things we haven't even
02:59got to yet.
03:00I was like, okay, that's fine.
03:01That's good you had enough time though.
03:02Um, but like, you know, he told me that she was, you know, an orphan and that, that's something that,
03:06uh, that she always keeps with her.
03:09Um, it's, uh, and I think that it's a part of the reason why she's so rigid and so, um,
03:16uh, hard on the outside because, you know, she's had to create her, her own life for herself and has
03:21to create her own place in the world.
03:23Um, so yeah, like, uh, he, he told me all of that and then he told me like how Blackwood,
03:29the original thing was that Blackwood was always my father.
03:33But originally they told me that I knew that he was my father and it wasn't until I read the
03:38Feast of Feast episode that I was like.
03:40Oh my gosh.
03:40Oh, I didn't know.
03:42I've been playing it this whole time like I know.
03:43But apparently it worked, so.
03:45So much to unpack from that episode.
03:47In finding out that Father Blackwood is your father, that was just kind of the best thing ever when they're
03:52at the table.
03:53Can you kind of talk about filming that scene and what stood out about it?
03:56Uh, that was a hard day.
03:57I would never want to eat that cake, by the way.
03:59Oh, right?
04:00Right.
04:01Someone sets you up with that, oh my gosh.
04:03Oh, and we had, I don't know if you guys saw the, the duck goose that was on the table.
04:06Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
04:07That thing reeked the whole day.
04:09Apparently someone's like, they cooked it and someone didn't put it in the fridge the night before.
04:15And so it sat out the whole night.
04:16So between takes they would like take it out and we were like, they were like trying to spray it
04:21with air freshener to try to like.
04:23So we were all just like dealing with this smell around the table.
04:26Um, but no, but uh, um, I, I think it was, it was obviously a really big moment for Prudence,
04:32um, in.
04:33Which is a genius way to set that up.
04:35Right.
04:36To discover part of her identity that she never knew and in front of all of these people and, um,
04:42having to, to, uh, just wrap your head around that in an instant.
04:47And, um, and you know, Father Blackwood, it seems so unremorseful about it as well.
04:52Yeah.
04:52Like, which is even harder to deal with like, okay, you don't even care.
04:56Like had this cake not been eaten, I would have never known this.
05:00Um, so it, it, uh, I had to really go deep for that, um, and try to bring up that,
05:08that emotion for her while still trying to mask it.
05:10Cause you know, you're in a room full of people that you're not all the way familiar with.
05:15So.
05:15And in part two, we see that struggle of her relationship with her father, Father Blackwood.
05:19Can you kind of talk about exploring that more in part two?
05:22Um, so yeah.
05:23The challenges Prudence was facing.
05:24Well, so she, you know, um, any orphan, like, you know, what they want is to be, is to be
05:30claimed and to feel that they have a place.
05:32Um, and so, you know, when she finds out that information that, you know, she does have a dad, she
05:37does have family that's alive and there and has always been there, you know, she, that's what she wants is
05:42to be, feel claimed and feel like she's a part of a family, um, beyond the weird sisters.
05:48And so, for Father Blackwood to deny her that from birth and then, even after, right, it's like, that just
05:57really tears a person down.
05:59Um, and, you know, Prudence being so strong that she's always gonna fight through it.
06:03She's always going to, like, put on her best face and not let anybody know that she's weak or that
06:09she is suffering from it.
06:11Um, but yeah, she, uh, she, as the season goes on, you see that at first this is the greatest
06:20thing that could have ever happened to her.
06:21But then she starts to realize who Father Blackwood really is and reconciles with her own morals and her own
06:29moral compass to figure out, is this the family that I actually want to be a part of?
06:34Um, and is this the route that I want to take?
06:37Um, yeah, and, and so as she, shortly after she goes into that, she is like, okay, wait a minute.
06:45Let me be myself now.
06:48Let me be myself first.
06:49Um, and yeah.
06:50Now, as Zelda becomes her stepmom, what do you, how would you define their relationship?
06:56Um, I think to start, it was a bit rigid and a little, um, uh, distant.
07:02Um, because, you know, at the end of the day, Zelda's a Spellman.
07:04Yeah.
07:05And Prudence isn't like the Spellmans, um, due to, you know, Edward Spellman, like the, just the way that he
07:10changed the Church of Night.
07:11And, um, but as she, as time goes on, I think she starts to learn from Zelda and Zelda is
07:18just as, as devout as she is.
07:20Yeah.
07:21And she realizes that, it, it, it's a big reason I think of why she, um, kind of, kind of
07:28ends up going against Father Blackwood.
07:30Um, and starts to look up to Zelda, um, and, and take on her ways, um, and know that that
07:37is probably the better route to go.
07:39Speaking of the Spellmans, her relationship to Sabrina is really interesting because they're essentially frenemies.
07:45Mm-hmm.
07:46But I do think Prudence has Sabrina's best interests at heart and vice versa.
07:51Can you talk about that? Do you agree?
07:52Yeah, I mean, I think, I think definitely, um, to a degree and I think it grows over time.
07:58I think Prudence definitely respects Sabrina, um, that despite that she is half mortal, the grit that she has and
08:04the way that, um, she doesn't back down from any fight.
08:08Like, I think that Prudence is like, girl, you got it. Like, um, but I think most of the time,
08:15you know, Prudence aligns with Sabrina when it serves her own benefit and, um, serves her own struggle for power.
08:22Um, but yeah, like, their, their relationship is this very ever morphing thing, um, as they learn more about each
08:29other. Yeah.
08:30The magic in the show is really rooted in the spells. I was wondering if you could teach me a
08:34spell today.
08:35Okay, I can teach you the blood curse spell.
08:39Oh my gosh, scary.
08:39Yeah, the, the one from the very first episode.
08:42Um, yeah, uh, it's, okay.
08:45Vos omnes.
08:46Vos omnes.
08:48Ministri.
08:48Ministri.
08:49Odei.
08:50Odei.
08:51Et destructiones.
08:53I know, it's, it's, it's hard. We got like a whole coach on set.
08:57Core et noque.
08:58Core et noque.
08:59How am I gonna remember?
09:00You're right, it's, it's like, we spent so long, the Weird Sisters, like, trying to, like, like,
09:05Abbey has the, the hardest struggle with trying to get the Latin.
09:09Remember, yeah.
09:09Um, and so yeah, we just practiced over and over again, saying it together, trying to, like,
09:13get it, but yeah.
09:14We're going to this one more time in full.
09:16Okay.
09:16Um, can't do it.
09:19Vos omnes ministrio Dei.
09:20Et destructiones et seretore discorte.
09:23Et qui libiter opera facitis et tractibus quode et noque.
09:27Okay.
09:28Uh, Fiat Aldi of Sabrina.
09:31That's the, I just remember the end of it, but I can't remember the, yeah.
09:33Boom.
09:34Casted.
09:34Blood cursed.
09:35To the world.
09:36Bam.
09:36I hope you, I hope you're all okay.
09:39Now, the name Prudence actually comes also from another, um, popular show about witches.
09:44Are you familiar with Charms, the original?
09:46Okay.
09:46Very much, yeah.
09:47Did you watch it?
09:48Yeah, when I was a kid.
09:49My brother has every season on DVD.
09:50Okay, what was your take on Shannon Doherty's Prue?
09:52Um, I, she, you know, she's the big sister.
09:55As Prudence is the big sister.
09:57Um, and she is, uh, you know, will go through anything to protect, um, her sisters.
10:03Um, and so, I, I mean, I loved.
10:05Somewhere to.
10:06Yeah.
10:07I, I loved Prue, uncharmed, like, um, and I love how, like, she was.
10:11And she died.
10:12I know.
10:13Heartbreaking.
10:14Oh.
10:15Um, but yeah, like, she was, she was gentle as well as strong.
10:18Yeah.
10:18Um, which I think Prudence is learning to be.
10:21Um, so yeah, like, I, I, I love Charmed so much.
10:25Who do you think is Prudence's forever love?
10:27Because we see her and Ambrose kind of have this relationship.
10:30Who do you think Prudence belongs with, if anyone?
10:33Um, I think Ambrose would be the best fit.
10:37Um.
10:37I think she should go steal Harvey.
10:39That's, oh, well.
10:40I don't.
10:40They're so, they're so different.
10:42So different.
10:42I don't know if Prudence would, like, dig Harvey, though, because, like,
10:46he's, like, in the best way, he's a simple guy.
10:50Like, and, um, I think that the, the, that he'd also have a problem with, like,
10:57Prudence's ways and, like, just how she thinks in this dark way.
11:01Um, but I do think that, like, Prudence and Ambrose is a really good match because,
11:04you know, they both grew up, um, without fathers.
11:08They both, like, are grappling with that same thing in a different way.
11:12Um, Ambrose, like, understands the, understands, of course, respects the ways of the, of the
11:18witch world and their traditions, um, and doesn't challenge them, but has a different
11:24approach to them, which I think something, that's something that Prudence can learn from.
11:28Um, and, you know, her softening her own self.
11:31Um, so, yeah.
11:33The dynamic duo.
11:33Yeah.
11:34Yeah.
11:34They're the greatest love story.
11:35Yeah.
11:37Uh, speaking of the love triangle of Sabrina, Nick, and Harvey, are you personally Team Sabrina
11:43and Nick or Team Sabrina and Harvey?
11:44Uh, I feel like...
11:47Sabrina and Nick.
11:48No.
11:49Oh!
11:50I actually think I'm, like, Team Sabrina and Harvey because it's like, you know, she,
11:54he keeps her grounded.
11:56He keeps her, like, uh, like, you know, a part of the mortal world and, and keeps this
12:02piece of light inside of her.
12:04Um, while, you know, Nick, as, as sweet as he is, um, and as, like, you know, we'll find
12:11out later that he's had a different agenda.
12:14Yeah.
12:14Um, he, um, yeah, like, he's just, he's leading her down the dark path, the dark side.
12:21Like, and I'm, I'm a light person.
12:23And he's carried into the gates of hell.
12:25Right.
12:26Exactly.
12:27Um, and he's...
12:28Yeah.
12:29Um, you know, gives up his, his own vessel, um, to save Sabrina and trap the Dark Lord.
12:36Yeah.
12:37It's wild.
12:37These teenagers go through so much on the show.
12:40Right?
12:41Well, I mean, you know, like, all the witches, while we look like teenagers, we're, like,
12:45like, Ambrose is the eldest of us.
12:47He's, like, 90 years old.
12:48Um, I, I feel like Prudence is in, like, her, like, 70s.
12:52Yeah.
12:53Um, Gavin thinks that Nick is, like, in his, like, 50s.
12:57So, yeah, we've got, like, ex, life experience on us.
13:01We just haven't, like, aged yet.
13:04Now, speaking of your castmates, we actually have a question from Chance.
13:07Oh my god, okay.
13:08Roll the tape.
13:09Ask her about the samurai swords.
13:11Okay.
13:11And ask him about how easy or difficult they were to, uh, to holster.
13:15Um, thanks Chance.
13:17Um, yeah, so, that was a day.
13:20Um, they were, so they were really long, um, originally.
13:24They ended up having to cut them because they didn't fit in the holsters that were made.
13:29Um, and even after they cut them, I couldn't, like, properly, like, my arms weren't long enough
13:36to get them all the way out.
13:37Yeah.
13:37Um, so we had to do, like, stop and cut takes where, like, I'd, I'd start to pull them and
13:43then we'd stop and then they'd get them the rest of the way out.
13:45And then we'd keep going.
13:46Um, but they were really fun.
13:48Like, I, I, I just, I used to do martial arts.
13:52Yeah.
13:52And, um, I never worked with swords or anything, but I got a samurai sword from a, uh, tournament one
13:57time.
13:58And I always liked to play with it, so I was super excited that day that, I was like,
14:01Prudence gets weapons, it's so badass, yes, in this leather jacket.
14:06I was so excited.
14:07Um, but it was super, like, um, like, I think due to my martial arts background, though, I know how
14:11to move.
14:13Like, I did bow and sigh, um, before, and so, it was, yeah, it was fun.
14:17Will you teach me that?
14:18Yes.
14:19Okay, so, you're gonna, like, it's all in the wrists.
14:23So, like, as you bring them down, you're gonna, like, twirl your wrists, and then, like, you're gonna go in,
14:30inward.
14:31Like, yeah.
14:33So, like, as they come out, and, like, oh, no, outward, sorry.
14:37Outward.
14:38And then back around, and down, and, like, out.
14:42Whoosh!
14:43Yeah!
14:43That's it!
14:45Uh, lastly, what else do you wanna see in part three?
14:48How the, the, like, you know, now that we have no Dark Lord, like, what, who do we, like, you
14:54know, where does our faith lie?
14:56And, like, like, how does, like, you know, the, the aunts take over the school, and they're gonna build a
15:02new curriculum and everything.
15:03And I'd love to see, um, how they change, like, our, basically what's gonna be our entire witch world, and,
15:12and what we know, um, to be safe and true.
15:15Um, so I, I, I, I can't wait to see them do that.
15:19As well as, like, does Madame Satan, like, is she gonna go, like, like, rogue, and, like, be the Dark
15:27Lord all over again?
15:28Or is she gonna, like, align, and, like, be, like, our savior, like, our true savior, and, like, our hero.
15:36Like.
15:36I don't think that's gonna happen.
15:37I don't think so either!
15:38She's so conniving!
15:40I'm like, oh!
15:41But I really want her to, like, be, like, on, on the good side, but still dark.
15:45Like, if that's possible.
15:47No, that's a good way to do it.
15:47Yeah, so.
15:48Thank you so much for being here.
15:49This is a blast.
15:50No, thank you for having me.
15:50Should we do the same ride before we go?
15:51Yes!
15:52Ready?
15:53One, two, three.
15:56Whoosh!
15:56Whoosh!
15:57Whoosh!
15:58Thanks for watching.
15:59Thank you, guys!
