00:00This summer, this has to stop. Here are three steps to take if your dog is
00:05overheating. This year we're teaming up with the RSPCA to keep pets cool. If
00:10you're worried your dog is overheating, here's what you need to do. One, stop
00:15further heating. Stop whatever they're doing that's causing them to overheat.
00:18This could be exercise, buildings, hot vehicles or movement. Get them out of the
00:24heat and into the shade. Two, cool the dog. Pour any available water that's cooler
00:31than your dog's temperature over their body. Submerging them in paddling pools or
00:35streams can also help, but make sure that you keep their head above the water and
00:40never do this if they're unconscious. Three, transport them to a vet. It's
00:45always best to call ahead and tell them you're on your way. If you're using a
00:48vehicle, make sure it's well ventilated and provide cool water on the way. Thank
00:52you. And remember, if you keep your cool, we can keep pets cool.
