00:00I'm Alex this is Tony hi I'm Tony thank you for the generous mic placement yeah
00:09that's it they don't care about my people go ahead we'll make it work here
00:17thank you I can't I can't hear you yeah I know on which side my bread is buttered but
00:44they really are extraordinary they do it all now there's 15 other things they do
00:48that I didn't I didn't have time to mention yes can I just just dominate the
00:59entire thing I'm just gonna dominate yeah um well there's two actors on our show
01:05that are so phenomenal and and add so much bring so much to the table Kevin
01:11Pollack and Caroline Aaron they play Moish and Shirley Maisel and they are they're
01:17just phenomenal I get to do a lot of my stuff with them and it is total joy I
01:26was so happy to see Luke Kirby recognized I think he's phenomenal when he's on it's
01:31not like anyone's doing a performance it feels like Lenny Bruce that's so tricky to
01:35portray someone who really existed and such an icon and I think he embodies him
01:40but isn't doing an impersonation and it's so phenomenal and Jane's amazing yeah I
01:46just the whole cast everyone's amazing and our crew our crew our crew I get to
01:50come and go but they're there first thing in the morning and last thing at night I
01:53don't know how they do it and I don't know why they do it
01:59slow down everyone one at a time one at a time I think I think it's working oh sorry sorry
02:06hi over
02:08here can it uh Margaret Crowe at KNX radio congratulations to both of you absolutely
02:11love the show just kind of speak to why you feel it resonates so much this show
02:16with the people who are watching I think it has a lot to do with Alex Borstein it
02:23says your name there I don't know yeah and me why does it just have my name and
02:31not your name that's true yeah why does it resonate I don't know I think because
02:38it's kind of a refreshing respite from the the present day and our current
02:44situation and it's a little bit of a you know there's a little element of
02:49nostalgia to it and yet it's sort of the themes and everything are are relate to
02:54to present day it's relevant and and it's just full of full of great characters
03:00and and and great writing that's that's everything I would agree I think it's um
03:06it's like a musical without singing it's it's it's it's fantasy and it's an
03:11escape and I think people want it right now
03:16Alex the story you told at the end of your speech was very moving can you
03:20share a little bit about why you chose to tell everyone about your family and
03:24share that story tonight I'm not sure I don't know just just talking about the
03:31strength of a woman and and and my grandmother was the strongest woman I knew
03:35and I get choked up every time I talk about her but yeah she's she's an amazing
03:41person and an amazing story and we keep focusing on the strength of women now and
03:46how we've come a long way and it's it's bullshit they've always been there these
03:49these women have always run the roost and I come from a long line of bulldozers and I'm
04:07proud Tony Alex congratulations it's Jeannie wolf um Alex were were you're the strong women in your
04:17family saying yeah go be an actress or were they you know honey have a something to
04:25fall back on or no absolutely my my grandmother used to say why don't you make
04:31your own show make a show why don't you make a show they have a my mother and
04:38grandmother always said be an actress and my father said go to college and have
04:42something to fall back on and so I followed all of their advice Tony how
04:48does it feel to be surrounded by all these strong women on the show well
04:53actually it feels very I feel like I'm very much at home I grew up in a large
04:57family have six sisters I am married to a fabulous woman I have two daughters I
05:02I'm just I'm in that world all the time and and it's it's it's it's it's fed me and
05:08it's nurtured me and it's it's made my life fantastic are any of your daughters
05:14interested in acting well I'm happy to say no my older daughter actually did go
05:20to to Cal Arts and she in the acting program did really well but when she got
05:26out she had the good sense to to become a writer and she just chose a totally
05:31different path and we're incredibly proud of her can we have time for one last
05:42question yes why do you hide like why do you hide on the red carpet when lots of
05:59people wanted to talk to you and you and Brooke are kind of sneaking in
06:08I just I just I'm I'm obedient and I I just follow orders you know I don't know
06:18I mean I just I never get the sense that people are clamoring to there's so many
06:22great high-profile people you know on that carpet and so I prefer to you know
06:29recede rather than rather than be pushed out of the way and Alex I think that
06:34every year I learn something new about you and I think I mean in a professional
06:39sense that you can do so much and I feel like there's something that you're
06:43working on maybe your desk that you're gonna write and do yourself is there a
06:48secret project in your life oh yeah there's always a secret project but my the
06:55biggest project is my kids I I when I'm not working for it you know we work for
07:00five to six months and then I go and just have fun with my kids and play with
07:04them and take them to school but yeah I'm always writing I'm working on a feature
07:07and we'll see what happens comedy drama horror it's it's kind of a porn
07:16why is that funny it's the first laugh of the night I'm offended yeah it's a
07:21hardcore porn it's a snuff film you're gonna get in trouble over that am I no
07:27I'm gonna get rich I'm gonna get rich
07:34thank you everyone
