00:00Did you see that article?
00:01Every year these liberal elites
00:03kidnap a bunch of normal folks like us
00:06and hunt us for sport.
00:08The hunt is back on.
00:09The Hollywood Reporter can exclusively reveal
00:11that the controversial, satirical thriller
00:13that depicts quote elites, kidnapping,
00:15and then hunting quote deplorables
00:17is now set for a release date of March 13th.
00:20This comes six months after Universal pulled the film
00:22from its September 2019 opening
00:24in the wake of several mass shootings
00:26that shook the nation.
00:27Following those attacks,
00:28Universal and producer Jason Blum
00:30decided to pause the ad campaign for the film.
00:33But after The Hollywood Reporter
00:34and other outlets reported on the film's premise,
00:37it generated instant controversy.
00:39Now Universal is releasing and marketing the film
00:42as the most talked about movie of the year.
00:44The last I heard, free speech still exists.
00:46Don't first amendment me.
00:48It wasn't real.
00:49In an exclusive interview with THR,
00:51Blum and screenwriter Damon Lindelof
00:52defend the film as an over the top satirical take
00:55on the divided state of the union.
00:57According to Blum,
00:58none of us were interested in taking sides with this movie.
01:01And Lindelof added,
01:02no one who has seen the movie
01:04has described the movie as provocative.
01:06He also said,
01:07we think that people who see it are going to enjoy it
01:09and this may be a way to shine a light
01:11on a very serious problem in the country,
01:14which is that we're divided.
01:15And we think the movie may actually, ironically,
01:17bring people together.
01:18The R-rated film cast Hillary Swank
01:20as the ringleader of a gang of wealthy snobs
01:22who try to wipe out a group of assorted individuals
01:24who have posted right-wing views online.
01:27Though the quote elite supply their prey with guns,
01:29the playing field is not level.
01:31But one woman, played by Betty Gilpin,
01:33turns the tables on the killers.
01:34What kind of sick people
01:35would even think of something like that?
01:37White people.
01:38Rear than worse.
