00:00People keep telling me they know me. No one does.
00:06Well my friends, it's the end of an era. Lucasfilm unveiled the final trailer for
00:11Star Wars' The Rise of Skywalker appropriately on what would have been late star
00:15Carrie Fisher's 63rd birthday. New trailer footage features clips of Daisy Ridley's
00:20Rey, Adam Driver's Kylo Ren, Oscar Isaac's Poe Dameron and John Boyega's Finn,
00:25as well as an appearance from Fisher herself, who will be returning to the film
00:29via previously unused footage, she and filmmaker J.J. Abrams shot for Star Wars' The
00:33Force Awakens. Abrams rolled out the first trailer for Rise of Skywalker at Star Wars
00:37Celebration in Chicago in April and unveiled a short sizzle reel at D23 in August,
00:42so it's expected that this will be the final major look at the project ahead of its release.
00:47Now with The Rise of Skywalker, Abrams is closing out the nine-picture saga spanning 40 years
00:52that began with George Lucas' original 1977 film. So the release of the final film will
00:58undoubtedly be a really emotional moment for fans. But rest assured, this isn't the end of
01:03Star Wars as we know it. Star Wars will be kept alive on the small screen via Disney+,
01:07with Jon Favreau's The Mandalorian serving as the flagship series for the service, an
01:12Obi-Wan Kenobi series starring Ewan McGregor, and a Rogue One prequel starring Diego Luna,
01:17also in the works for the streamer. And on top of all of that, The Last Jedi filmmaker
01:21Rian Johnson is also developing a trilogy. Meanwhile, Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff
01:26and D.B. Weiss are penning their own trilogy, so we have a whole lot more to look forward to.
