00:00Everybody loves the sunshine, well most of us do, and seeing as we're severely lacking
00:05in vitamin D here in the UK, when the sun has got hot on, it puts us all in a
00:10better
00:10mood. However, when temperatures soar and the heat starts to feel a little too overwhelming,
00:15here are some of the best ways to keep cool across the city. Of course, staying hydrated
00:19is key. If you aren't about Liverpool, so many brilliant independent cafes, coffee shops get
00:25that lovely iced coffee. I'd prefer a nice matcha. Then as the evening falls, you can go to one of
00:31our pub gardens. Here in the Baltic Triangle, you've got the likes of Subrosa and the Botanic
00:36Gin Garden, where you can drink, dance and unwind. Dog friendly too, and when the temperature dips later
00:43on over at the Botanic, they have blankets to keep things comfortable. And while it may not be the
00:48obvious choice in a hot day, Liverpool Cathedral offers a striking escape from the heat built from
00:53the local sandstone. Its vast interior naturally holds a cooler temperature, offering a calm
00:58and shaded retreat. From the midday sun, get to one of our green spaces. Calderstone's Park
01:04offers winding shaded walkways, where the air feels noticeably fresher beneath those trees.
01:08Further north, Crocsouth Park spans more than 500 acres of historic parkland, woodland pasture,
01:14and a nature reserve for those who still want a touch of warmth. Sefton Park's Palm House
01:18provides dappled light through its glass structure. Although it's so warm in the winter,
01:23I'm guessing it's even hotter on those rare sunny days. Of course, we have the Mersey here,
01:29let the river cool you down from the thrills of the aquapark to kayaking, paddleboarding and more
01:33at the Liverpool Water Sports Centre, which offers many ways to cool off. Research also shows swimming
01:38and aquatic activity support aerobic fitness while boosting mental and social wellbeing. So two birds,
01:44one stone. Down at the pier head, the Mersey breeze brings a welcome shift in temperature and you can
01:49even hop aboard a Mersey ferry, that'll really get some wind in your sails. Now shop smarter, not harder.
01:57Get into the shops, they've got air conditioning, they like to Liverpool One, St John's, you don't even
02:01have to buy anything, just keep nice and cool in there, do a bit of window shopping. Of course,
02:06we have our gorgeous coastline as well, Crosby Beach, we've got Waves, you can also go along to
02:11Formby and the woodland there and beneath the pines. It's super cool, you might even spot a red
02:16squirrel and of course, across the sand dunes, you have the beach there too. Now where is your
02:21favourite place to be in the city when the sun shines? We've been on the streets to ask you.
02:25My back garden. I'd say the Arbor Docks, the Arbor Docks or the Green Steps, because it's nice,
02:31it's relaxing as well. I just love sitting out in the garden, listening to the birds, the back of
02:37me, it's the railway and it's like a forest, I call it the Mersey Forest. We're always going to garden
02:42centres, centres tomorrow, yeah. Matthew Street is very nice, the grapes. So whether it's the shade
02:52of a park, the cool of the river or your own back garden, Liverpool has plenty on offer to stay
02:57cool
02:57and comfortable when the heat is on.
