Around 6,000 people join the Wattah Wattah Festival in San Juan City on June 24, 2026, according to the Eastern Police District monitoring the annual water-dousing celebration. Mayor Francis Zamora said the traditional 'basaan' activity would only be allowed for participants inside the designated water zone covering portions of N. Domingo and P. Guevarra streets. The water-splashing activity was permitted from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. as part of the city’s safety measures for the celebration. Zamora said the restrictions are intended to keep the festival safe while allowing residents and visitors to continue the tradition honoring St. John the Baptist, the city’s patron saint.
