00:00Hello friends, this week on Heat Vision Breakdown we're talking about the five hottest topics
00:03in pop culture.
00:04The trick is, Aaron, we only have one minute to talk about each topic.
00:08And to keep us honest, Natalie has a stopwatch.
00:10I do.
00:11It's going to be tough for you, so you talk a lot.
00:18So HBO is making yet another Game of Thrones prequel.
00:21What do you think about that?
00:22Start the clock.
00:23Okay, this one is going to be based off the Targaryen line.
00:25Anyone who's read the books know that the Targaryens have a very long history.
00:28It's been a while since I've read that.
00:29I apologize.
00:33Okay, so this series is going to be based on the Fire and Blood book by George R. R. Martin,
00:37which kind of gives a history of the Targaryens.
00:40The Targaryens are obviously mostly well-known because of Daenerys Targaryen,
00:43one of the main characters from Game of Thrones who went crazy and killed a whole bunch of people at
00:46the end of the series.
00:47Sorry, spoiler.
00:48This is a great fodder for a prequel series because there's such a lot of history about the Targaryens in
00:54the books.
00:55In the original Song of Ice and Fire books by George R. Martin's in the appendices,
00:58there's a very long history of the kings and queens of the Targaryen line.
01:02A lot of craziness has happened in their past.
01:04There's lots of incest, which is great for Game of Thrones fans because apparently they love incest.
01:08Sure.
01:08There's a lot of infighting.
01:09There's something called the Blackfyre Rebellion, which I really hope that this touches on
01:12because it's a very exciting part of the history.
01:14There's a series of prequel short stories, novellas, called the Dunkin' Egg Stories,
01:19which deal with that a little bit.
01:21The Tardarian line has tons and tons of craziness happening and I feel like this makes more sense for a
01:26prequel.
01:26The other one is thousands of years in the past.
01:28This is 300 years.
01:29That could be anything.
01:30At least this one we have like a hook into.
01:32It's sort of like if they did a Robert's Rebellion thing.
01:33Damn it!
01:35Okay.
01:35Yeah.
01:37Feel like I got my fill.
01:38Yeah.
01:39Okay, moving on to the next topic and this one's for you, Aaron.
01:42Hailee Steinfeld has joined the cast of Disney Plus' Hawkeye and his fan favorite Kate Bishop.
01:47Start the clock.
01:48So, you know, this is a big deal because Disney Plus, you know, we already knew there were going to
01:53be a bunch of movie stars in there,
01:55but it's people we've seen before, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan.
01:58This is the first big movie star cast that's new to the MCU in a Disney Plus show.
02:03Basically, she's going to be playing Kate Bishop taking up the mantle of Hawkeye.
02:06I mean, Hailee Steinfeld, it's kind of like Tom Holland, somebody in their early 20s getting cast.
02:11She could play this role for 10 years, potentially, you know.
02:14You know, what's also interesting about it is she's also kind of the face of Apple Plus' Arrival streaming service,
02:21one of their shows.
02:22How does that work?
02:23Yeah, it's kind of like somebody being in a Marvel movie and then being like, oh, I'm also a DC
02:27hero.
02:27I mean, to most people it might not sound like a big deal, but Apple can't be happy that one
02:32of the stars of one of the few shows they have
02:34is also going to be probably a much buzzier show over at Arrival, which launches their service 11 days after
02:40Apple Plus.
02:40But if you're Hailee Steinfeld, you can't say no to Marvel, right?
02:42You need to, yeah, I mean, this could be 10 years at work. I mean, this could be a career
02:47-defining role.
02:48Time.
02:49Oh, you did good.
02:50Oh, thanks. So supportive.
02:52Alright, Nintendo Switch getting into the exercise game. Time.
02:57Okay, they're getting back into the exercise game because about 12 years ago in 2007 they released the Wii Fit,
03:02which I'm sure everybody is familiar with.
03:03Wii Fit was a gigantic hit. I don't think people even understand how big Wii Fit was.
03:08How big was it?
03:09It's the third best-selling console game of all time, or at least on that console.
03:13It sold 22 million copies. It raised the extra gaming or health game revenue to over $2 billion in the
03:20first 18 months that it was released.
03:21It was a huge thing sparked the entire revolution. Everybody else who were the competitors tried to get in on
03:25this at the same time.
03:26Now they're back with something called Ring Fit Adventure, which is a crazy name.
03:30Looks kind of silly.
03:31It looks like a hula hoop, basically, that you squeeze and you put around you and it has a little
03:35leg strap, sort of like a garter belt.
03:37And what it is, is it's getting you off of the couch and getting moving again, which is something that
03:41they did with Wii Fit, but they did it in a way that sounded really fun.
03:44It was fun.
03:45Extra gaming has existed since the 80s and people have been trying to crack that nut of how to get
03:48people to exercise while they're gaming.
03:50We've had games like Dance Dance Revolution, going all the way back to Atari.
03:53They had something called the Atari, I can't remember if it's called the Puffer, it was a bike.
03:58Yay!
04:00Next topic! This is for both of us.
04:02Joker won at Venice, made a big splash at TIFF last week.
04:07What can we expect from it? Start the clock.
04:09At this point, you know, it's not actually news to say, oh, a comic book movie might get Oscar buzz.
04:15You know, I mean, Black Panther got Best Picked.
04:19I think this movie, you know...
04:30Actors have won for the same character in different films.
04:32Oh, interesting, what's the other time?
04:33Uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, Marlon Brando and, uh, Robert De Niro.
04:38Ah, yeah, yeah.
04:38For, uh, Vito Corleone, The Godfather wanted it.
04:40But, this movie's also getting, uh, some controversy.
04:45For, uh, kind of, you know, it's not comic book violence, it's kind of...
04:51That's sort of his trading card.
04:53And it also feels, a couple weeks ago we had this, uh, discussion around video games and if they cause
04:56real-world violence.
04:57And there was a lot of people getting up in arms about that.
04:59That feels like kind of the same argument that's happening here.
05:01Yeah.
05:02I'm confused why some people would think one thing and then also think the opposite thing with this movie.
05:05Every time one of these movies comes out, people say, this is going to change things for a comic book
05:09movie.
05:09Right.
05:09Oh.
05:10That's pretty good.
05:10Will it, though? Oh, my God.
05:12Cliffhanger.
05:12It won't.
05:14Okay, Aaron, I only actually came up with four topics.
05:16Way to go. Nice one.
05:18So, I don't know what we're going to do with this one.
05:19Okay, so I'm going to help you out.
05:20Ad Astra is coming out into theaters next weekend and I want you to talk about space movies, Oscar nominations,
05:27because none of them, even though there's lots of good space movies, none of them have won Best Picture.
05:31Maybe talk about that, okay? And go.
05:33The first thing we have to address is that 2001, one of the best movies of all time, was not
05:37nominated for Best Picture.
05:39Wasn't even nominated for Best Picture. It lost to Oliver.
05:41Yeah.
05:42Oliver won.
05:42So, okay, so space movies, you've got to give them more love. I don't think that Ad Astra is the
05:47movie that's going to break through, though.
05:49Okay.
05:49I think it was, I really, really enjoyed it. It's a lot like 2001, but I don't think it's the
05:54movie that people are going to be talking about this year.
05:56Are there monkeys in a giant obelisk game?
05:57No comment. I don't want to say, I don't want to spoil it. People should go see it.
06:00There are. There must be.
06:02But, you know, talking about Brad Pitt, he's in Once Upon a Time, that is the performance that's going to
06:06get attention this year from Oscar, if he gets anything.
06:09Let's talk about more recent space movies.
06:12Gravity did get a Best Picture nomination. It won the Oscar for its director, Alfonso Cuaron.
06:16Yeah.
06:17But, Interstellar did not get a nomination because it's a crappy movie.
06:20One of my favorite movies. We argue about this constantly.
06:22Oh, you have terrible taste. It's not a good movie.
06:23Interstellar did not get one. Apollo 13 did get one, but did not win.
06:28What are some more recent ones that have come out?
06:30Oh, The Martian was nominated. It did not win as well. That one seemed like it had a chance.
06:34Ah!
06:35Interstellar sucked.
06:36The Martian was great.
06:38All right, you've heard us talk, but you have way more than one minute to let us know your thoughts.
06:41Write down there in the comments on any of these topics, especially why space movies keep getting snubbed at the
06:46Oscars.
06:46Or why Interstellar isn't that great of a movie.
06:48Stop.
06:49Are you doing great of a movie because Redasticacショ면 is not at all.
06:54Yep.
06:54Right, you've messed up.
06:55So, take a foot and put it to The Capesamerショучiter.
