00:00You're a USF ambassador for peace and you're encouraging nuclear war against Pakistan.
00:06Priyanka Chopra came under fire over the weekend after being called out as a hypocrite.
00:11The actress was taking questions during a Q&A panel on Saturday at Beautycon when
00:16audience member Ayesha Malik took the mic to question Priyanka on her role as a
00:19humanitarian while at the same time praising war between India and Pakistan,
00:24saying,
00:30Malik referenced a tweet from Chopra from February in which the actress wrote,
00:34Jay Hind, meaning victory to India, along with the hashtag Indian Armed Forces,
00:39following news that India had launched airstrikes in Pakistani territory on February 26.
00:44For context, India and Pakistan have been in conflict for decades over the region of Kashmir.
00:49Both countries have claimed the region in its entirety as its own and have fought a number
00:53of wars over the years because of it. Tensions have continued to escalate as of late as both
00:57India and Pakistan are now nuclear-armed countries. Many saw Chopra's tweet of encouraging
01:02the escalating conflict between both countries as hypocritical considering she's a UNICEF
01:06goodwill ambassador and is supposed to be promoting world peace. During the Q&A, Malik
01:11continued saying,
01:24The actress responded with,
01:31Chopra continued saying,
01:57Many on social media criticized the actress's response to Malik, calling it condescending and
02:02arrogant, with some even demanding that she step down in her role as UNICEF ambassador.
02:06One Twitter user wrote,
02:08I really don't know how an artist can praise military actions and especially while being an ambassador
02:12of UN. I don't think this world could ever see peace when peacemakers love wars.
02:17Another tweeted,
02:24Malik tweeted on Sunday identifying herself as the audience member, writing,
02:27Hi, I'm the girl that yelled at Priyanka Chopra. It was hard listening to her say,
02:32We should be neighbors and love each other. Swing that advice over to your prime minister.
02:36Both India and Pakistan were in danger. And instead, she tweeted out in favor for nuclear war.
02:41As for Chopra stepping down in her role as UNICEF ambassador, it doesn't look like that might
02:45happen anytime soon as the actress is actually being awarded the Danny Kaye humanitarian award
02:50by UNICEF later this year at their Snowflake Ball in December. For more updates to this story,
