00:00Which pilots are likely to score series pickups? The Hollywood Reporter dialed up
00:04industry insiders and compiled a list of the buzziest comedies and dramas that
00:08stand the best shot at making it to series. Over on ABC, the graphic novel
00:12adaptation Stumptown, starring How I Met Your Mother grad Cobie Smulders, has
00:16emerged as the early drama standout. The show sees Smulders playing a strong,
00:20assertive and unapologetically sharp-witted army vet solving everyone's
00:24messes but her own. Multiple sources say the network is impressed with Smulders'
00:27performance. And Batwoman, starring Ruby Rose, is already staffing up over at the
00:31CW and just awaiting the formal series pickup call. This one has been a lock
00:35effectively since the minute Rose was cast as TV's first leading lesbian superhero.
00:40She made her first appearance as the character during the CW's Arrowverse
00:43crossover event at the end of 2018.
00:51Meanwhile, after years of development, Saturday Night Live star Kenan Thompson may
00:56finally get his own primetime series with The Kenan Show. The single-camera
00:59comedy in which he stars is a widowed dad raising his children with his very
01:03involved father-in-law, played by Andy Garcia, is considered a lock for NBC's
01:08schedule. Over on Fox, the southern gothic dramedy Filthy Rich, starring Kim Cattrall,
01:12has drawn strong early reviews. The show sees a wealthy Christian network CEO die,
01:17leaving his family and illegitimate kids to battle over his fortune. The former Sex and the
01:21City star has also drawn rave reviews for her performance opposite This Is Us
01:25Emmy winner Gerald McRaney. And you know her from Everybody Loves Raymond and The Middle,
01:30Patricia Heaton may be back on TV screens once again with Carol's second act on CBS.
01:35The multicam family comedy was picked up with a sizable series commitment penalty attached and is
01:39considered the season's biggest slam dunk to get on the air. Heaton stars as a woman who,
01:44after raising her two children and retiring from teaching, decides to become a doctor. Kyle
01:49McLaughlin co-stars. Now, it's worth noting that you should take this list with a grain of salt,
01:53because nothing is official, as pilots can always go from hot to not. But to see the full list of
01:5810
01:58pilots likely to score series pickups, head to THR.com. Until next time, for The Hollywood Reporter News,
