A growing dispute has emerged between Washington and Tehran over the future of Iran’s nuclear program. President Donald Trump says Iran has agreed to extensive long-term nuclear inspections and suggested unfrozen Iranian assets could be used for humanitarian purchases, including food and medical supplies. The White House has portrayed recent diplomacy as a major breakthrough toward broader negotiations. However, Iran’s Foreign Ministry has rejected those claims, insisting no nuclear talks have begun and denying any agreement on renewed IAEA inspections. The conflicting accounts underscore persistent mistrust between the two sides and raise fresh questions about the path forward for negotiations.

00:15A major claim from Washington, a blunt denial from Tehran, and fresh uncertainty surrounding
00:22one of the most consequential diplomatic efforts in the Middle East.
00:26President Donald Trump says Iran has agreed to allow nuclear inspections into what he
00:32calls infinity.
00:33But Iran says no such agreement exists.
00:36The conflicting statements are exposing deep disagreements at the heart of a fragile peace
00:41process that is supposed to end months of war and pave the way for broader negotiations.
00:47Speaking on Tuesday, President Trump insisted that Tehran had accepted the highest level
00:53of nuclear oversight for the foreseeable future.
00:56In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote that Iran had fully and completely agreed to highest
01:02level nuclear inspections long into the future, infinity.
01:07The president also claimed that Iranian assets being unfrozen under the agreement would be
01:13placed into an escrow mechanism and used to purchase humanitarian supplies from the United
01:18States, including wheat, corn, soybeans, food, and medical products.
01:24The comments came just days after Washington agreed to temporarily waive sanctions on Iran
01:30for 60 days as part of an interim understanding reached following Swiss-mediated talks.
01:36The administration has portrayed the agreement as a major diplomatic breakthrough that could
01:41ultimately lead to a broader settlement covering Iran's nuclear program, sanctions relief, maritime
01:48security, and regional stability.
01:50Vice President J.D. Vance also struck an optimistic tone.
01:55He said discussions with Iranian officials had established a strong foundation for future
02:00negotiations and suggested Tehran had agreed to allow nuclear inspectors back into the country.
02:06But Iran is telling a very different story.
02:09Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Bagaye rejected the American characterization outright.
02:16According to Tehran, no negotiations on Iran's nuclear program have begun.
02:22Bagaye said Iranian officials did not meet International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Rafael Grossi
02:30during the Switzerland talks and have no plans to invite IAEA inspectors to examine Iran's
02:37damaged nuclear facilities.
02:39Iran's ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland also pushed back strongly
02:45against Washington's claims.
02:47Ali Bahraini stated that Iran alone will decide how its unfrozen assets are used.
02:53He rejected any suggestion that the United States or any other country would dictate spending
03:00some time on the United States.
03:01The disagreement highlights the delicate and uncertain nature of the current diplomatic
03:06track.
03:07While both sides have reported progress in reducing tensions, major differences remain unresolved.
03:14On Monday, negotiators announced steps aimed at sustaining a ceasefire in Lebanon and improving
03:20maritime coordination around the Strait of Hormuz.
03:23The United States has also provided temporary sanctions relief, allowing Iran to resume certain
03:29oil exports and receive payments.
03:32At the same time, Iranian officials say any discussions involving the nuclear file will
03:38only begin after several parts of the interim agreement are fully implemented.
03:42Iran insists sanctions relief, maritime measures, and other commitments must be carried out before
03:49moving to the next phase.
03:50For President Trump, the stakes are significant.
03:54The conflict with Iran has created political pressure at home, particularly as energy prices
04:00and regional instability remain major concerns ahead of upcoming elections.
04:05Many Republican lawmakers continue to demand stricter limits on Iran's nuclear activities, while
04:11others support Trump's push for diplomacy.
04:14Meanwhile, oil markets are watching closely.
04:17Crude prices have declined since the interim understanding was announced, reflecting hopes that tensions
04:23may continue to ease.
04:24But as the latest exchange demonstrates, the road ahead remains far from smooth.
04:30Washington says Iran has agreed to unprecedented inspections.
04:34Tehran says no such commitment has been made.
04:37And until both sides agree on the same version of reality, the future of the peace process remains
04:44uncertain.
