Transcript
00:00Jacob Tremblay and Awkwafina just might be headed under the sea. The two actors are in talks to
00:04join Disney's live-action remake of The Little Mermaid. This news comes as Melissa McCarthy is
00:09already in talks to play the villain in the story, the sea witch Ursula. Rob Marshall is directing
00:14the live-action take on the animated classic. Now, as I'm sure you recall, the 1989 animated movie
00:18loosely retold the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale of a mermaid named Ariel, who falls in love
00:23with a prince and just wants to be a part of his world. So, she makes a deal with the
00:27evil Ursula
00:28who grants her wish to be human, but takes her voice. If deals make, Roomstar Tremblay would give
00:32life to flounder Ariel's fishy best friend. How cute. And crazy rich Asian scene-stealer Awkwafina
00:38would play Scuttle, the seagull friend of the red-headed princess. The live-action remake will
00:42showcase all the well-known songs of the original, like Under the Sea and Part of Your World, as well
00:47as have new material. Original composer Alan Menken is teaming up with Lin-Manuel Miranda for the new
00:52songs, with Menken composing and Miranda writing lyrics. For more on this story, head to THR.com.
00:58Until next time, for The Hollywood Reporter News, I'm Tiffany Taylor.
