00:00The Night King is coming.
00:07The dead are already here.
00:09Sunday night's installment of Game of Thrones finally brought the highly anticipated
00:12battle of Winterfell to the forefront which, holy shit, was nothing short of epic.
00:17But now that the long night is finally over and we're cashing our breath, we're breaking
00:21down everything that went down in episode 3 from the depths to that shocking ending
00:26we didn't see coming. So if you haven't caught up, um, major spoiler.
00:30All of our favorite characters walked into the big battle as the living took their last
00:34stand against the dead and the Night King. There was a lot of bloodshed and, as a lot of
00:38fans expected, some of our favorite characters didn't make it through the battle.
00:42But let's cut right to the chase and talk about the biggest jaw-dropping moment of the night.
00:46The Night King is dead and the White Walkers are gone and it's all thanks to one person,
00:52Arya Stark. Wait, what? Yep.
00:55The Night King's death at the battle of Winterfell's climax stands out as one of the biggest
00:59shockers in Game of Thrones history. The show had framed its central conflict as the forces
01:03of the living versus the forces of the dead, so very few fans expected the White Walker
01:07War to end midway into the final season. And even more shocking was who killed the infamous
01:13Night King, as a lot of people expected Jon Snow to deliver the kill rather than Arya.
01:17So the question remains, where do we go from here?
01:20Another big part of the episode was who did and didn't make it through the big battle.
01:24Of course, fans walked into the night knowing that some of their favorites would not make it
01:28out alive, but it still didn't ease the pain knowing that some of our most beloved
01:32characters' watch has ended. The episode saw the end of characters Dolores' Edd,
01:37Liana Mormont, Beric Dondarrion and Melisandre, who actually ended up being one of the
01:41surprise heroes of the night. And then of course, there were two deaths that really struck a chord
01:46with Thrones fans. The first being Theon Greyjoy, who took on the Night King in an effort to protect
01:51Bran Stark. He didn't survive the showdown, but proved he was a hero until his dying breath.
01:56The second was Jorah Mormont, Daenerys Targaryen's right-hand man from the start of the series,
02:00who was killed after doing everything in his power to defend the Khaleesi once she was
02:05surrounded by wights. Sunday night's episode was also GOT's longest in history, clocking in
02:10at an incredible 82 minutes that proved to be action-packed and emotion-driven from start to finish.
02:16So they won the Great War, but now it's on to the last war against Cersei Lannister and the fight
02:21for the Iron Throne. As for where the series wraps up from here, well, we only have a couple
02:25more episodes before we find out.
