00:14Grey's Anatomy showrunner Krista Vernoff is bringing the activist life to TV for an ABC
00:18drama called Rebel, which will focus on what life has been like for the legal
00:22consultant in the last 20 years since Julia Roberts first brought her story to the
00:26big screen in 2000's Erin Brockovich.
00:28Rebel, set to be inspired by Brockovich's life today, follows Annie Rebel-Rubelski,
00:33a legal consultant who, 20 years after a movie made her famous, is still working without a
00:38law degree. Brockovich herself will be executive producing the drama alongside Vernoff, who is
00:43also penning the script.
00:44The film Erin Brockovich earned Roberts multiple honors including an Academy Award and a
00:49Golden Globe. The film, which was Oscar nominated for Best Picture, followed the single
00:53mother of three who was instrumental in building a case against Pacific Gas and Electric
00:57in the early 90's, doing so without any legal training.
