Transcript
00:05Just as Idris Elba is gearing up for the release of his new Netflix series,
00:09Turn Up Charlie, on March 15th, the actor is addressing those James Bond rumors in a new
00:14interview with The Hollywood Reporter. Well, Elba says he's never been formally approached
00:18about the 007 role, which Daniel Craig will play for one more film. And while he's flattered by
00:23Twitter's fixation on the possibility, he says it's not necessarily the career move he's after,
00:28even if it were to present itself. So why'd he tweet my name's Elba, Idris Elba to his 2.6
00:33million
00:34followers last summer? Well, the actor says, I took the piss a little, but I was also reminding
00:42people that I never got referred to as James Bond. So I was like, hello, my name is Elba,
00:47Idris Elba. It was a joke, I swear to God. Before sitting down with THR, Elba was back home in
00:51England
00:52filming Cats opposite Taylor Swift. And before that, he was in Hawaii filming the first spinoff of the
00:57Fast and Furious franchise alongside Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham. This spring,
01:01he'll head back to California for a DJ set at Coachella. According to Elba, my career is more
01:05like a buffet and I like it that way. It's what keeps me alive and interested. And as for riding
01:10the lines between actor and musician, Elba says, I want to be Donald Glover. He's the man.
01:15He literally does it all. For the full interview with Idris Elba, head to THR.com.
01:19Until next time, for The Hollywood Reporter News, I'm Tiffany Taylor.
