00:00Why has the Church of Scientology issued a warning against this viral TikTok trend?
00:05Scientology's speedrunning sees participants attempt to quickly run through properties
00:08linked to or owned by the church. They try to see how fast they can make it through the building
00:13before they are stopped by staff. Many participants then upload their findings of the notoriously
00:18secretive church online. First beginning in the US, in locations such as Los Angeles and New York,
00:24it has since spread across the pond. Last month, the church's main UK centre near Blackfriars in London
00:31was raided after a Snapchat post called for people to join in on the viral TikTok trend.
00:37Bring face coverings and GoPros. Spread the word, the original poster advised.
00:42A City of London police spokesperson said, a proactive policing plan was put in place with
00:46officers in attendance. Officers spoke to the assembled crowd who left after a short while.
00:51No arrests were made. Meanwhile, in Scotland, a group of 30 teenagers attempted a run at a
00:58Scientology building in Edinburgh, though they were stopped by police. We spoke with Danielle,
01:03a former Scientologist from birth, since turned critic, who has called for the runs to stop.
01:09This isn't about clickbait. This isn't funny. This trivialises our whole message that we protest for,
01:17why we protest. It must still be terrifying to anyone, regardless of whether they're Scientologists
01:23or not, to have this just suddenly be confronted by a tribe, if you like, of running kids at them.
01:30It must be terrifying. In Scientology, they tell their parishioners that the outside world is very
01:35dangerous, as I mentioned before. But this buys into that whole false narrative precisely.
01:41The Church's claim that the use of its spacing is trespassing, harassment and disruption of religious
01:48facilities. It said, the Church welcomes lawful visitors. It does not welcome mobs, forcing entry,
01:54damaging property, disrupting religious spaces or endangering people for views.
