00:00The biggest surprise of the world is not who is winning.
00:03It seems that nobody is winning.
00:05Brazil won't win with Morocco.
00:06Spain couldn't win against Cabo Verde.
00:08Belgium won't win with Egypt.
00:10Uruguay won't escape points.
00:12Iran and New Zealand won an emotional 2-2 win.
00:16Why are there so many matches?
00:18First, it seems that the great selecciones are running below what expected.
00:23But the true reason has more to do with the same tournament.
00:26This is the first World Cup in which 8 teams that end third in their groups
00:31can still classify to the elimination phase.
00:35That completely changes the incentives.
00:38In previous World Cup, an win could put your game in danger.
00:42Now, for many teams, an win is a good result.
00:45Sometimes, even the plan.
00:47The smallest selecciones know that they don't need to win the favorites.
00:51They just need to add points, keep the group alive until the last day.
00:56And that has created a different type of football.
00:59The result?
01:00The difference between the great selecciones and the least favorites
01:03seems smaller than the other.
01:05So this is not just a World Cup full of matches.
01:09It's a World Cup where the format has turned the match
01:12into one of the most valuable results of football.
01:16World Cup.
01:24But how do you log more?
