00:06old imported military defender with my dog taz and in today's episode we're finally spending our
00:11first real night in this truck's new build you see over a year ago i shipped my defender to
00:16goose gear to have the interior camper completely stripped out and rebuilt and after six months away
00:21it came back gorgeous then i got stuck at home handling months worth of deferred maintenance
00:26projects because after all i did not wait six months for a new interior just to ruin it with
00:31classic land rover water leaks anyways long story short after a year of waiting we are finally back
00:37on the road and going to spend our first real night at camp in this brand new build my main
00:42goals of
00:43the night are just to find somewhere scenic to camp to cook a full meal in the new truck setup
00:47and to
00:48start working out the kinks of fitting my entire life into one little truck this is not going well

05:28in this new build when I quite literally drove 2,000 miles from Michigan to Flagstaff Arizona
05:33and now we're finding ourselves even further across the country in the mountains of California
05:37okay so the last time you guys saw me I was just wrapping up Overland Expo West which was
05:41such a blast I'm so glad that we finally made it but then after that I went to go visit

05:48of mine who lives in California he's actually one of my childhood best friends you guys have seen
05:52him on the channel before Daniel he went to Hawaii with me to help me capture pictures and so
05:58similarly um to celebrate Poe's like brand new build and also I just wanted to like celebrate
06:03my birthday with him and stuff we did a bunch of photo shoots in California of Poe and me and
06:08Tazzy
06:09it was really exciting Tazzy you did so good in your photo shoot with your uncle Daniel good job
06:16but I haven't had a chance to have like a full night camping in Poe yet which is wild
06:20when I was driving across the country from Michigan to Expo I just crashed on a pile of hoodies as

06:25guys saw in the back of the truck because I had no time to even set up the yellow cap
06:29and then like I
06:29just mentioned I spent a couple weeks crashing with friends so while I've been out traveling
06:33Daniel was getting sick pictures of the truck I have yet to really use this new build at all
06:38so that's what tonight is for tonight's like our first real night I haven't even cooked a meal in
06:43this truck yet I can't even get into the timeline of it all that's crazy far too long okay took

06:51too long to get here Taz is gonna love that okay anyways we were doing the photo shoots of Poe

07:01Joshua Tree and if you guys don't know like just that whole valley area of California gets very very
07:06hot in the summer and so it quickly went from like 60s nice 70 degrees weather to us getting stuck

07:1293 degree heat and so I had kind of a brutal climb out but for Tazzy's sake for Poe's sake
07:18for my sake
07:19because you guys know how I feel about heat okay I decided to go to the nearest mountain range that
07:24I could find so we're up in the mountains now okay you're caught up but Poe was struggling to get
07:30here I'm not gonna lie to you guys currently pulled over waiting for engine temps to come down
07:36we've been in second gear on the highway and that's how climbing the mountains in the heat is going
07:41so exactly where we're trying to get up there get us to cooler weather anyways because of that Tazzy
07:48and I have just been doing a lot of driving trying to get to colder weather and so she just
07:52needs to
07:52stretch her legs a little bit and she's gonna hate these gunshots but I'm gonna force her I know

17:56going to give you guys the general gist of where I have everything please keep in mind I have been
18:00wrapped before or burglarized or whatever somebody broke into my truck and stole over ten thousand
18:05dollars worth of all of my stuff before so I don't really feel the need to go into the nitty

18:11detail of where I have everything living and what's locked and what's not and also if you
18:16guys haven't seen the reveal video of the new build and you want to see like the nitty-gritty of

18:20the build was made and all the nooks and crannies and stuff you'll want to go watch that video but
18:24for mini tour purposes this is obviously where I have all of my cooking stuff I need to go back

18:29the drawing board on that one I have my Dometic water right here both side panels on both sides
18:34have these which have bungee cords where I can put stuff up I'm not gonna have my hatchet live here
18:41I kind of just threw it up there one day but um it's not gonna live there but anyways but

18:47to figure out what is going to live back there basically my whole thought process when I was
18:53packing up this truck is I want to make things that I grab every single day I want them to

18:57in accessible places trying to be smart about that and seeing as I live full-time in a classic
19:02imported Land Rover Defender one thing I put up here in my cubbies is grippy mechanic gloves
19:07blue shop towels charging cords trash bags spices other cooking stuff what have you and I'm not
19:15gonna lie so far I really love this like I check my oil basically every single day or every other
19:20day with how much I drive and so I'm constantly like grabbing gloves and tearing one of those sheets
19:25off so that works out well for me all of that works good as well I'm liking this side of
19:31the truck
19:32to be honest with you on this side over here I just have more charging cords and then I have
19:38my
19:38sweatshirt that I just had on other hoodies other jackets hats behind here is my kitchen junk drawer
19:46and it's just like it sounds it's basically a bunch of stuff that I don't have a real place for
19:50and I
19:51don't need to grab very often so it lives in these little goose gear cubbies back here also these parts
19:56of the goose gear platform I was gonna try to hang up somewhere but I actually love it because you
20:00can put
20:01them on an angle like this and then it's like a backrest perfect are we kidding now right here in
20:09these cubbies I might make a change I might swap this one with my kitchen one right here not sure

21:02just a little bit harder to access the reason I was thinking of switching these two cubbies is
21:06because if you guys remember this back door I plan on putting a fold down table on and I plan
21:11on cooking
21:12outside of the truck a lot with it and I'm just wondering if when I'm outside cooking right there
21:17if having like cooking stuff in this cubby right here would be easier for me to access
21:26rather than right there I don't know you guys tell me what you think but but that is something
21:31I'm considering and I might change as I go there is one thing I want to put up before we

21:36really quick though because I am low-key excited if you guys aren't new to this channel you will
21:42know that I love command strips okay but so many command strips in this truck over the years
21:47but I found this one that's like a hook so like you stick this to the wall and then you
